I’m one of those people that you can try to explain Chemistry or Calculus or even French to and I can’t get it till maybe the sixth or seventh try. However, this book was able to make me understand Cryptocurrency in just one reading. I’d say that’s a win! I didn’t have any background knowledge of Cryptocurrency (frankly it sounded like a made-up name out of a Bond film), but after reading Cryptocurrency: How to Make a Lot of Money Investing and Trading in Cryptocurrency: Unlocking the Lucrative World of Cryptocurrency, I am now one of the twenty-five percent that can say what a Bitcoin is and get it right!

As most financial books do, I thought this one was going to put me asleep within the first chapter. I was surprisingly wrong. The book is written in plain English, which means the average Joe like me can actually read it without being inundated with Cryptocurrency jargon. When the book does use terminology, it gives definitions. For instance, the book explains what a Merkle Tree is made up of and that it is used to “follow the flow of individual transaction.” Most of this easy to read language is due to the clear voice author Andrew Johnson has. It feels like he’s talking to the reader as a friend he’s helping make some money in the Cryptocurrency trading, but is making sure the friend is well informed before taking the leap.

This book is geared towards adults of all ages, and I say that because you can really start investing at anytime. Someone looking for extra retirement money or someone just starting out in the real world (like myself) could pick up this book and use the information is possess to responsibly and effectively start investing. There’s a lot of attention to detail in this book, which I found really helpful as a novice investor. It tells you exactly how to get started in Cryptocurrency, including specifying what scams to look out for when you’re beginning your journey. It’s also candid about the future of Cryptocurrency and how it’s still a relatively new concept and the market is still fluctuating so investing can be risky. By including a pro and con list for investing, it felt like the book wasn’t pushing you in the direction to invest, but just making the reader informed and leaving the decision of investing up to them.

Adding synopses of popular exchanges were a nice touch to help clarify and I found a lot of the facts really influential such as “fifty percent of all Kenyans now own a Bitcoin wallet while less than forty percent have access to reliably clean water.” That amazed me. I found it so interesting that a whole world of currency exists and I’ve never heard about it until now. I thought I was starting to grasp regular stocks, but now there’s a new realm of digital currency to explore.

While I liked having background information on how Cryptocurrency came to be and what networks like Bitcoin became important in the market, there wasn’t much information on investing until chapter three. Since the title is a “how to” title, I felt like the background information could have been summed up in chapter one. I understand that the author wanted readers to have a well-rounded view on Cryptocurrency, but it felt like an abundance of Bitcoin when I wanted more tips and tricks.

This book is for anyone looking for a new way to invest their money, or just to find out more information about Cryptocurrency in a way that does hurt their brain. Even if you’re not looking to invest right away (like me), I’d suggest taking a look at this book to glance into the future of money trading. However, pick up the paperback copy because the Kindle Cloud Reader makes the formatting a little off so some words are pushed together and the pictures are out of place.

An easy read to know more about cryptocurrency. Not so much on how to invest or trade, but surface knowledge which is good for beginner.

Good read

It was a good start in understanding cryptocurrency. What is clear is that this concept is still not well understood.
