D. R. Bickham’s Unnatural Selection is a highly compelling work of paranormal fiction sure to intrigue from the very first page. With engaging characters studies, mind boggling twists, and a thrilling conclusion, this book is not to be missed! Get your copy in print or digital format today!
Paralleled characterizations were what drove The Chambers Effect at a break-neck pace for me. The author, D.R. Bickham, switches back and forth between two protagonists: Danny, a Vietnam vet struggling to move on with his life and support his family; and Warren, a black activist struggling to hold on to his own family as well. There are great similarities in their struggles, and I am not just talking about the supernatural events that begin to crop up in their lives.
The pacing is excellent, and the final scene is such a satisfying pay-off. It ends so abruptly, but not in a way that ruined my enjoyment but rather in a way that made me excited for the sequel.
If you are a fan of thriller-horror such as Stephen King or Dean Koontz, pick this bad boy up on Kindle. It's a quick read and guaranteed to entertain. And keep in mind: this is an indie author, so if you read it, be sure to leave a review!
I had a great time writing this book. It is my very first book but it most certainly will not be the last. I resonated with each character in the book and felt like I was experiencing this world through their eyes. I celebrated their victories and mourned their losses.
When I wrote this book, I wasn't really sure if there was a market for this kind of story. For this reason, I made it a short, fast-paced read. The book is only 150 pages, and I made it a point to make every single chapter as interesting and engaging as possible.
The reviews for the book have been phenomenal, better than I ever expected, and I thank every reviewer for investing their time into doing a write up for my book. If you are on the proverbial fence about giving the book a try, I encourage you to take the leap! If you've already read the book, please be so kind as to leave a review!

Thank you for taking the time to consider my book.
Set in the 1970’s, “Unnatural Selection” is the story of two men: Danny, a Vietnam vet who makes risky choices to support his family and live up to expectations and Warren, a researcher by day, with a passion for the Black Rights movement, who he discovers he’s about to be a father. While it seems these two men have nothing in common, they share more than either of them know. “Unnatural Selection” is the tempting introduction to a series that is only just beginning to reveal the darkness that lurks.
It's been long time since I have read a book that captured my attention and drew me in like Unnatural Selection. I literally was up all night reading it. The story flows nicely and will keep you captivated. The visualization of the characters was easy thanks to the descriptive details. I got sucked into the story of each of the characters, especially Danny and Warren. I felt their joy, anger and pain. All I can say is WOW! The ending was a total SHOCKER and took me by surprise! Definitely left me wanting more. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait for the second installment of the series!
No spoilers!!! I read this a few years ago from than new author D. R. Bickham. In the post hey-day of comic-book eras from the early 1990's and mid 2000's (like Marvel's Civil War storyline), I now look for supernatural, adult storytelling for my fantasy reading. Thankfully, Unnatural Selection scratched my itch for grounded, metahuman storytelling that reflects the real-world repercussions on families and the world at large. The author, D. R. Bickham has a great talent for respecting the maturity of his readers and placing the them in every thrilling moment in the life of "Danny" and those within his circle. Good stuff!
