At only twenty-two, Cody Falco has been through more than anyone should in a lifetime.
Brought back from the depths of despair by her mothers, Lyric and Savanna, she now spends her days working to stop other young girls going down the same terrifying path that she once did. While working undercover she meets McKenna, the wife of her latest suspect, and there is an instant connection.
When Cody is finally able to reveal who she really is, they embark on a whirlwind romance. But Cody’s past is never far away, haunting her from the shadows. Someone is pursuing a Vendetta… but who is going to come out on top?
Sherryl grew up in San Diego, California the youngest of three. She began making up stories as a teenager. Working for the State of California at the Department of Justice taught her the inner workings of law enforcement. Her first stories centered around law enforcement situations. She married her husband and had two children. She continued writing and attempted to be published. When an agent returned her submission for the third time she gave up. Always the romantic, the stories came with a vengeance after marrying her wife. Her biggest fan, (other than her mother) her wife, Tirzah, decided these needed to be published. First self-published then contacted by a publisher this is a dream come true for Sherryl.
Good read but not as good as some of the others in the series. Some things were a touch weird/unbelievable for me e. g. The fact that Cody (the supposedly studly main character) makes chicks scream her name such that her moms can hear them across the house and the fact that Cody (allegedly) gave some woman 10 orgasms in 20 minutes. Come on, man! I don't understand why the author takes away from the story with ridiculousness like that. Yeah, yeah I know it's fiction. But still...
All of the WeHo books go over the top slightly... but this one, way, WAYYYYYY over the fecking top! Hardly any of it is believable and there seems to be too much happening for such a short story... But I think maybe my main problem with this book is, the reason why the 2 main characters meet in the first place, it 'hits home' slightly. SO maybe I'm just 'nit' picking the book because of my own issues here, I don't know. Give it a read if you enjoyed the ones before, but my opinion... I was let down.
Going undercover, she ended up in a dangerous situation. Not only dangerous for her life but also for her heart. Well, when love hits, it hits. There are many emotional moments and with heartbreaking details. Group homes, street gangs, bipolar depression and a deadly hit are important elements in this installment. I love all the characters and their interactions with one another. They make this series so great. The whole series is well worth the read and I highly recommend this. Now, I'm looking forward to the next book.
So, you know that scene in the Matrix series where one Agent Smith becomes a million Agent Smith Clones? That's how I'm starting to feel with this series. We now have over half a dozen butches in town; and aside from skin and eye color, they all drive ridiculous vehicles, work in law enforcement, and wear black pants, a t-shirt, biker boots with a 2-inch heel, a Harley jacket and a thick-banded black watch. Each one is emotionally unavailable until they meet a magic femme. This femme will have good fashion sense, love dance cardio, and benefit from the sexual prowess of said butch. Clones aside, the main butch in this story stretches belief for me. I refuse to believe that a 22-year old rookie agent would be given a dangerous solo undercover job when she's clearly an emotionally stunted/damaged, immature, verging on suicidal, reckless individual who is dealing with BPD and has a history of going off her meds and losing it. There is exactly zero chance that someone this unstable would pass the psych test to become an agent. There are other things I take issue with in this book that stretch belief, however I don't mean to leave a laundry list of nit-picky spoilers... I just hope the author pulls this series back together; it's got a solid foundation but it's getting repetitive and over the top in its dramatic moments.
Great read at first but starting to seem racist...
I'm hoping the rest of the books break this mould, because I'm mostly enjoying the series immensely, but so far *every* black character in the series has been a nameless violent criminal...but there is positive middle eastern and native american representation. Like, if you can't write relatable black characters, don't write them at all. I'd rather see no representation than insulting tropes. I'm gonna keep reading and hope for some improvement. But I'll go back and lower my ratings if I'm still disappointed. The writing is very distinct, no question that it's the same writer all the way through, with all the focus on music and the fluidity of perspective on each page. The latter is something I usually can't stand, but this writer does it remarkably well. The characters are easy to tell apart, even when there are so many of them as the series builds. So yeah. Either write an actual decent black person or quit writing us all together. Just stop treating us like nothing more than criminal plot progression.
Still enjoying this series, as I stated on the last book - I like that this author is touching on a lot of serious issues and in this one the fact that she managed to bring to light a little attention on one of the growing issue that is Human trafficking, child abuse and gangs is amazing to me as someone that understands these issues. Even in this fictional story lines, I'm glad they are covered to illustrate the enormity these issues are and the so much needed help our homeless youth needs. Cannot stress how happy that Cody found her OTP, I'm really hopeful that McKenna will help her with everything she needs to finally leave her demons is the past. What can I say about Lyric, I was holding my breath along with Savanna and could not be happier for their decision to have their own kid now and looking forward to see if that makes its way into one of the other books.
As for this volume, I wish changes were as simple as writing them in a story but I nevertheless liked the book. On to the next one.
Without the gory details the author writes the scenes of the horror of teenage girls being kidnapped and sold into the human/sex trafficking world. Cody's survived her traumatic/abusive experience but she's emotionally stunted because of her sexual abuse history. However, Cody's electric when it comes to women and it's a well written scene at the bar that Cody calls 'carousing'. Hilarious. I appreciated the one sentence regarding her step-father. The Baptist preacher who was a child molester. Telling. The love story between Lyric & Savannah was a joy to read. As well as the love & respect between Lyric and Cody. Cody attached herself to McKenna to first clear her name while simultaneously wanting to know her better. It was love at first sight. A wonderful book within the series. Of course I read it until I finished.
Oh my gosh I have been wanting to write a review but never had the time and now I do and I just want to say KEEP THEM COMING!!!! There books are amazing I love them so much and I love how each book continues on the storyline and has everyone from the other books in it it is just awesome. The books grab your attention, hold onto it, makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you feel like you are involved in what is happening. I will definitely continue reading these books as long as Sherry Hancock will write them. Everyone should try these books out one of my favorite authors and series.
This book you get to know even more characters. The way all the characters are connected isn't too far fetched if you know the six degrees of separation rule. This applies greatly in any lesbian community.
I think this was one of my favorites because of loved the relationship between Lyric and Cody. No, this is not the romantic relationship but I think that is what makes it all the more compelling. It shows a different side of the characters.
I love that Cody is determined to save people the way she was saved. She is the perfect flawed hero that every book needs. When she gives she gives her all.
I wondered at the beginning of this book if this would be the installment that disappointed me in this series, but I'm happy to say that it didn't. Once again I got wrapped up in the story line, rooting for both the safety and the successful relationship development of the main characters. I love seeing the same (ever-growing) cast of characters in these books and look forward to the next one.
Just when you think Sheryl cannot come up with another story, she blows you away with another amazing plot. I could not it this one down, again. Every one of the Weho books have held me hostage until I finished them. Cannot wait for the next one. Love your style Sheryl. Thank you.
The wonderful and realistic characters in this book are from previous WeHo books as well as a couple of new characters. I hope Ms. Hancock continues to keep the shelters in the series as it continues as well as the therapists. They will be needed for more than just therapy as they have big plans as their lives move forward 👏💛!!

A life full of trauma and pain makes Cody impossible to connect with, but an excellent undercover hunting human traffickers. Is there room for love in her life or just loss?
I like the characters in this one and third book in the series. I like Tyler and Shenin the most, but the ladies in Vendetta are my second. Great storyline, I had some tears in this one.
Sherryl Hancock is phenomenal at butch\femme pairings and creating wonderful chemistry in her stories. The women she creates are inspiring. I LOVE this series and will continue to read it again and again.
Well Sherryl Haddock has done it again. Another great Book that keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting to know more about the ladies in her books. This whole series will have you going through all of your emotions.
I have to give it 5 stars because I couldn't put it down It kept me up late last night as soon as I got home I started reading it again I finished it and I can't wait to read the next book I so loved the series
I loved Vendetta, book 7 in the WeHo series. Cody is a great character. Love Lyric and Savannah too. Great book. Little tiny BUT, still needs better proofreading for spelling and grammar errors.
Saw that this book was interesting and decided to read #1 in the series all the way to this one and can't believe how much I enjoyed this series. I love his book. No spoilers but some parts get hard to read, not in a bad way but it does speak on some heavy topics. Overall the book was amazing. Can't wait for #8
