In fairy tales, heroes don’t demand people’s homes to repay debts. And happily ever after isn’t supposed to start with indentured servitude. There’s a Beast in all of us. Mine demands I claim this beauty or risk losing all control...

Prince Adir

I've given in to my dark side one time too many. The more I indulge, the more bestial I become, until now I'm struggling to remain in control!

A sweetly innocent girl offers herself to me in repayment of her fathers debts. I think I’ve scored big time, until I realise her untouched little body just might be the thing that tips me over the edge!

Isa

I love my father and our library home. One of the last places on Earth not taken over by high-rises and digital media!

So when the Singarti known as the Beast comes to collect a debt, I do what I have to do. I offer myself to him. Three years of service, no big deal. Right?

Wrong!

He’s dominating and scary but hiding something secret behind a locked door. A secret I can’t stay away from. I came to repay a debt but now I want to tame the Beast...

Beast is an over-the-top, spun sugar sweet and filthy STANDALONE modern fairy tale romance novella with no cliffhanger, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

USA Today bestselling author Miranda Martin writes fantasy and scifi romance featuring heroes with out-of-this-world anatomy that readers call 'larger than life' and smart heroines destined to save the world. As a little girl, she would sneak off with her nose in a book, dreaming of magical realms. Today she brings those fantasies to life and adores every fan who chooses to live in them for a while.

Though born and raised in southern Virginia, Miranda Martin is a veteran who's traveled to places like Korea, Hawaii, and good 'ole Texas. She's since settled in Kansas, the heart of America, with her husband and daughters, a cat, and wishes for a pet dragon or unicorn. When she's not writing, you can still find her tucked away somewhere with a warm blanket and her nose in a book.

The Singarti people have landed on Earth and formed a relationship with its people. In return for the singarti useful technology, the Singarti have money and power. The Singarti are also looking for mates. The singarti are torn between being beastful and civilized. If they give into their beast's desire too much the Beast starts taking control. Prince Adir is a good example of that because he has indulged his beast so much he is on the verge of losing control. His features have turned very beastlike.
Isa is an old-fashioned girl who has never been with a man. She lives in one of the last physical libraries on Earth taking care of the old things. She even has a garden. Prince Adir comes to the library to collect on the debt her father owes him. Seeing no choice she offers herself to the beast as a servant for three years to save the library and her father. Adir is instantly drawn to the sweet beautiful girl and wants her. The problem is he is afraid his beast will hurt or destroy her. Somehow he has to keep her near but keep her from his bed or he will be lost to his beast forever.
This is a great retelling of a fairy tale with fantastic world building. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Beast is Miranda Martin's very enjoyable version the old Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. I've probably read the original and at least ten other versions during my reading career, and this one is among the finest. Martin's Beauty is Isabelle Stone - Isa - a poor human girl who lives with her widower father in one of the last real libraries left on overcrowded, fully urbanized Earth. Earth has been conquered by the alien Singarti, who despite their veneer of human-like beauty and sophistication, are possessed of, and sometimes ruled by, their furry, fanged, feral beast selves. One such Singarti, Prince Adir, is close to losing control of his insatiable beast when he encounters Isa, and nothing will calm the raging beast but her. I don't do spoilers - and many readers already know the basic story anyway - so let me just assure you that Martin's version, with its SF/dystopian futuristic twist, has all the drama and angst, all the steamy sexiness, and all the tender sweetness a reader could want. And no dancing teapots.

I love adult retellings of fairy tales. This one is Beauty and the Beast but set in Earth's future. Instead of being cursed, the prince is a Singarti. This is an alien who has a "beast" living inside- basically an alien shifter. Adir's beast is too close to the surface at all times. Isa knows the true worth of actual books and libraries. When Isa offers herself to Adir to clear her father's debt, she finds more Adir is more than she thought. Will she be able to save him from his beast? Will Adir be able to save Isa when trouble comes calling? Can't wait for the next installment in this series.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I have to say I liked this story even more than I thought I would. My only real problem with it was I found the insta-love a bit too over the top (a couple of days is just really too fast given the situation). I really liked Isa, a bookworm and hard-worker. The Singarti offered an interesting twist on "the Beast". I liked Adir and I think he filled the role in the story, but I wish the story had been longer to make the whole redemption from "beast" a little more believable.

I would love to see another fairy tale set in the same world, there is certainly room with the another Singarti.

Capturing her heart

Prince Adir has no idea when he goes to collect on a debt that the woman who offers her service as a servant will capture his heart. Isa wants to save her father and her home so when an alien Prince states that there is an outstanding loan she offers her service instead. Readers should enjoy the interaction between these two people and I would highly recommend this book to all.

Beast is an Alien?

Isa and Adir are definitely not a normal couple but they are fun to read about. I thought the "future" they are from does not sound pleasant but they make the best of it. Adir being an alien was just amazing. Miranda Martin changed the fairy tale just enough to be quite fun and interesting.

Like the title

The story is pretty much what the title says. A filthy sweet fairy tale romance. Instead of a man turned into a beast, it's an extra terrestrial prince. His race happens to have invaded earth at some point in the past. It was an interesting twist. There could have been more to the story. It's more like a 3.5 star.

4.5 stars

I really liked this book and have found that I like Miranda Martin in general. I couldn't give 5 stars because I felt like there needed to be more story between Isa entering Adir's home and then both declaring their love.

Highly recommend!

This is a great book. It is based on Beauty and the Beast. Adir is a prince and when he goes to collect his debt from Isa's father, she steps in offering herself for three years of servitude. Things get a little steamy. There is a HEA!!!

I read the second and third books first lol I have to admit I was not interested in this book when I read the blurb and to be honest it was not as good as the other two. A cute book but it needed more to make it a "good read"

I though this was a nice story but it wasn't great. The hero was sexy. The heroine was sweet. And that was about it. The conflict wasn't all that difficult to overcome. The "bad guy" was a teenage twit. I usually really like her books. This one just fell a bit flat for me.

Beast

Wow! I love this book. It is a filthy, sweet fairy tale. I will never look at Beauty & the Beast the same way again. Yes, it’s corny. Yes, it’s predictable. We all know the story. But this is the grown up version & wow, it’s great.

Para mi, todo retelling de la Bella y la Bestia nunca va a bajar de las 4 estrellas(a no ser que sea muy malo).
