You'll enjoy this about Maddie ... After graduating from high school, her three best friends leave their hometown of Chance California, to attend various colleges. But she doesn't, she goes Los Angeles to become an actress. Getting an acting job isn't easy, so she works as a waitress in this cafe where most of patrons are friends along with the owner. After a couple of years she gets a small part on setcom, which isn't renewed. She and the male lead start dating, but he turns out to be player. Time passes and she gets another part on a sitcom and dates the male lead, they take a trip Vegas and end up getting married. During an tv interview she finds out he's gay. Maddie returns home to Chance and so does her besties where she meets Dylan an author.
I enjoyed most of Madison's story. I hadn't really liked her in the previous books in the series so it was nice to get a different view of her. However as in Lianne's story, there's lots of build up and stories to go around but then the author just rushes the Madison/Dylan romance and boom the book is over. With everything else that happened in Madison's life and her divorce was barely finalized and we're to believe she's ok giving up the career she worked years for and picked up with another guy. Too unreal to believe and too rushed to enjoy. On a side note: the books in the series are overpriced at $3.99 for the book size.
Maddie had the confidence to move away and pursue her dream. Her compassionate and kind nature allowed her to make friends wherever she went. It served her well. When Maddie's life is turned upside down, the many friendships she'd fostered rally around her assuring her that she's valued and loved.
While I was critical of the first book in this series, I have only good things to say about Maddie. The promise of Lianne's storyline was fulfilled in this one. The premise of the series is a good one and the writing style more like a Robin Carr series. I love the characters. So glad the time periods were more in order n stead of back and forth.
I have enjoyed the characters in this series. Their experiences and dealings are realistic and relatable. I'm sure each of us has known a person in likeness to them and easily felt the emotional connection.
I really enjoy Mona Ingram 's books. They have a decent pace, they are clean and often so a part of life that you may not be familiar with. This was another great story.
Very well written series. Love the books so far and looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Romance but a really good plot. Doesn’t include revealing sexual situations, but well rounded rounded characters. Enjoy.
MADISON wanting people that are real, and true and having a purpose in life. She comes to bring life back into this town of Chance. Maybe there will be second chance at love. She has the spunk and ideas to forge ahead with a new life surrounded with friends.
This book did not disappoint. After reading the prequel and book 1, reading this book helped tie things together a bit more. A page turner and must read. Now on to book 3!
It is well written and I felt as if I were right there with the gals. I laughed and cried while reading these first 3 books. Good job Mona you achieved what I look for in a book, keep up the great writing
This is a very good series thus far. I love the characters and the story line to save a small home town. Plus the romance is clean and slow. Give this sries and author a try. it is a GOOD READ.
I knew soon as I started this book I would love it as Mona is one of my favourite authors. And to know that she’s a fellow Canadian just makes it even more great. Keep up the awesome work Mona, now I’m off to read Emma.
