Sensual Surrender by Katie Reus

2nd book in the Sin City Serafina series. Can be read as a stand-alone romance but better if the first has been read since this has the same characters in the casino in Vegas, but the focus is on a different couple.

Ellie’s past has her wanting to distance herself from Jay and her boss Wyatt. But their soldier backgrounds and support instead turn the situation into a trap for the criminals

High heat and passion along with emotional commitment makes these men so sexy and strong. They step up to take care of the criminals and give to charity as well as wholly loving their heroine. Hero is a good word for them. I want to know men like this in real life.

I alternated between the ebook and audiobook. The audio was Narrated by Holly Fielding and Ryan Hudson who did a great job with the emotions and pace.

4.5. The heroine’s decision to run away was just too stupid.

Ellie is deeply in love with Jay Wentworth and he with her. She'd like nothing more than to spend the rest of her life with him, however, when her ex-boyfriend, who's supposed to still be in prison, comes calling, she realizes that her happily ever after is in jeopardy. She runs but it's not for long because Jay was willing to do whatever it took, use all of his skills as a former SEAL, to protect the woman he loves... whether she wants him to or not.

Sensual Surrender was an adventure in schemes, manipulation, and criminal undertakings. It was indeed sensual, set against the backdrop of a sting operation. I've never read anything from Katie Reus before. I'm a huge fan of all things suspenseful and thriller-like and after getting her as a recommendation again and again, I took the plunge. No Regrets! I've now found a new go-to for my suspenseful binging needs.

This is a re-issue. Never read it the first time, so I don't know if anything is new or different.

Ellie and Jay work together and live together. He's about to propose when her past comes back to haunt her. She runs, but doesn't get very far. They get help taking care of the bad guys from his brother, other colleagues, and some Red Stone peeps.

4 Alpha Loving Stars!!!

Jay is a former Navy Seal and head of security for The Sarafina's wealthy owner Wyatt and Ellie is Wyatt's Executive Assistant and Jay' s live-in girlfriend.

Ellie has a secret in her past that she has determinedly put behind her until the day her past is released from prison and brings the happy life she has built for herself to a screening halt. Her ex is a nasty piece of work and makes demands from Ellie that will have her betraying those she has come to love (Jay) and admire and respect (Wyatt).

Rather than betraying her friends and those who have become family to her she decides to resign (which Wyatt refuses) and flee. Naturally Jay & Wyatt go after Ellie and convince her that the safest place for her is with Jay in the Serafina family fold.

Jay is hurt and unsure of their future since Ellie attempted to flee rather than confide & trust him to help her. He understands that Ellie has issues that only she can resolve, so he gives her the space (but not too much) she needs. He loves her and wants a future with her but he knows she needs to come to some decisions and choices on her own....but that doesn't mean he'll meekly stand by, nope he makes his presence and intentions very well known!!

I was over the moon when I was granted access to this ARC as I love Katie Reus, she is a favourite author of mine and is an auto-buy. Although it was a short time since the first Serafina story it seems like ages since reading it, maybe I was getting withdrawal symptoms :)) I was really looking forward to reading Jay's story and am pleased to say that I loved it, the plot was exciting and fast paced which made it difficult for me to put it down, I liked Ellie and loved Jay. I didn’t approve of Ellie running but I could completely understand it and was a good thing that Jay refused to let her go and with the help of their boss Wyatt he found her very quickly.....5/5 Stars - Fabulously written and a blooming good read!

My only complaint with this story is that it was too short, not that the story suffered because of the length because it didn’t, my disappointment was due to the fact that I was loving it and didn’t want it to end, and now I have to wait a few months until the next instalment and as soon as I see it available for pre-order I will be hitting the button!

I was mixed with book 2 i enjoyed it but i did dislike Ella (h) few times.. all the drama she went through when she could have told her boyfriend and her friends since well they are all marines.. they know how to handle themselfs..  like i get it she wanted to keep them safe but they can keep themselves safe.. your boss even offered you money when he thought you were in danger.. instead you went to a loan shark?? Who kinda beat you up when you turned him down.. like come on Ella that whole thing made you kinda stupid.. beside that mess this story was fast pace and okay i enjoyed Jay (H) so much he was a true alpha even when his heart was broken by the woman he loved he still protected her and loved her he just wanted her.. my other bad is.. no epilogue:(

Low angst, no cheating, no ow drama om drama her ex, drama, sexy times, secondary chara, not a manwhore and not a virgin gal

Jay is living the dream, and is just about to pop the question when Ellie leaves with just a note at home. Whst´s going on, and how can he help?
Suspense, action, Alpha males, feeeeeelings =) and smutty fluff. Great series set in Las Vegas.

4.25 stars---SENSUAL SURRENDER is the second storyline in Katie Reus’s contemporary, adult, romantic, suspense -The Serafina: Sin City Series. The focus of the series is on the men and women who work at the exclusive Las Vegas resort and hotel The Serafina. This is Ellis and Jay’s story. Ellie is the personal assistant to billionaire hotel mogul Wyatt Christiansen and Jay works security at the hotel.

The premise follows Ellie as she is determined to protect the people and the man that she loves from her past. But her past has come calling and Ellie is on the run. Handing in her resignation fuels the curiosity and concern of everyone at the Serafina when Ellie pushes everyone away in search for a solution to a debt that she owes. Ellie’s attempts to right a wrong, set into motion, a series of events that will end in tragedy-one way or another.

The relationship between Ellie and Jay started in a previous storyline. Now lovers and so much more, the sexual heat is strong between the couple; their lovemaking is sensual; but there is still the unspoken question of trust-why hadn’t Ellie come to Jay with her problem?

Katie Reus pulls the reader into a storyline of mystery and suspense; heartbreak and betrayal; getting rich and the bottom line. Sensual Surrender looks at the illegal side of life in Sin City where power and money mean the ultimate control. Ellie is caught between a life with the man that she loves and a life she thought she had left behind.

Sensual Surrender is a welcome addition to The Serafina: Sin City Series. There is a little bit of mystery; a little bit of suspense; and a whole lot of sex and romance rolled into a story where the past meets the present and could very well affect the future.

Safe. Longer than the 1st one, more developed.
But so many weird and not very bright decisions... Glad she survived. Not a doormat, but some things she did were silly.
He was a standard 'alpha'. Demands in bedroom don't make me swoon... it looks more like a caricature to me.

Sensual Surrender by Katie Reus is book Two in The Serafina: Sin City Series. This is the story of Jay and Ellie. I haven't yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book. Ellie was young and dumb just like all of us but her mistakes keep coming back to her present. Ellie is in a happy place where she has a job she loves, friends and a hot boy friend. But then her past comes back again and she does what she always does..runs. But this time her new friends and Jay aren't letting her go.
Enjoyed their story.

This was a "nice" story, somewhat typical, but lacked real energy. And the middle "twist" was so close to TSTL that I almost put it down.

Another great story by one of my favorite authors. Perfect blend of suspense, romance, action, and steamy moments. This spin off series is one of my favorites. The characters are interesting. Jay and Ellie are one of my favorite couples. This can be read as a standalone as well. I'm really excited for a couple of the other characters to get there own stories, Vadim and Cody are intriguing.

“After everything we’ve been through together, I hope you know by now that there will never be anyone else for me. "- Jay

Sensual Surrender is the second book in the Serafina: Sin City Series. Katie Reus outdid herself. I loved the first book in the series but I fell in love with this one, I don't even know what my reaction will be regarding the third book in the series.

Elle is Wyatt's personal assistant. Those who have read the first book already know that their relationship was off the charts from the very beginning. They both cared for each other but none did something for it, until Jay had a terrible accident.

Jay works for Wyatt as a member of his security team and for The Serafina. He knows what his job entails and he's confident he can succeed. But Jay has a weakness, Elle.

Ellie has a secret. A secret that could cost her much. She has a hidden past that she'd kept from Jay, one that refuses to be buried any longer. When her past resurfaces she does the only thing she knows that will keep Jay safe, she runs. Jay knows something's wrong and he's determined to find out but will he be able to live with it???

I loved, loved, loved this book. Jay was an incredible hero, strong, determined, caring and above everything else a protector. Jay and Ellie had great chemistry and there's was a lot of action. Elle felt that she didn't deserve Jay but little did she know that for Jay, Elle was everything. They were such a loving couple. I can't say I agreed with some of her actions but knowing that everything she did, she did it with Jay in mind was what made me like her.

Although, it is a pretty short story it has a nice flow, filled with action, mystery and intrigue. I couldn't read it fast enough. The only thing that I hated was the length. It was too short (well that's not entirely true but for me every good romance seems short) I loved sooooo much Elle and Jay that I didn't want to leave them so soon!!!

Ellie: Right now I’m wearing that gray skirt suit you like so much.

Jay: You look like a naughty librarian in that thing.

Ellie: That’s why you like it so much?

Jay: I thought you knew.

Ellie: Tonight I’ll wear just the skirt and jacket.

I totally recommend this book and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Note: Although, this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.

Here’s a little sneak peek from the upcoming Sensual Surrender!

As the other two men moved toward the parking lot, Jay turned Ellie so that she had to face him. Now that she was safe and he was able to touch her, the anger burning inside him pushed toward the surface. “We talk here or at home. Your choice.”

“Jay…”

“No,” he said savagely. “I come home on a break to find a bullshit note from you, throwing away our relationship like it meant nothing, then I find out from Wyatt that you quit with no notice. You’re going to talk about whatever the fuck scared you enough to run. So you get a choice. Here. Or home.”

Shifting from one foot to the other and still not looking at him, she finally whispered, “Home.” (Sensual Surrender, 3/2/14)

I loved this from the first page to the last. I haven't read the first book in the series, but I think this is a stand alone. I enjoyed Ellie and Jay's relationship, and I could understand where they were both coming from. Jay is a very protective man, who has the capability to take care of anything - I mean anything that threatens his woman. Ellie, has had a difficult past and had made some poor choices when she was younger. She's no longer that person, but she doesn't let anyone see who that person used to be, until she has no choice. Because her past has come back with a vengeance and she doesn't see any way out other way to get out of what is wanted of her. So she runs. Not far or fast enough though. Because she has Jay and Wyatt and Iris, and others who care for her and won't let her leave them. That's as much as you're getting out of me. This is a fantastic book, and I'm very glad I had the opportunity to review it. Katie has a fantastic story line that pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn't let go. Her characters are easy to relate to and interesting as well. Excellent read.

While I liked SENSUAL SURRENDER, it didn't work for me like other Katie Reus books. I loved the action and suspense and the romance was scorching as always but I have to admit I was a bit bored. Part of that comes from the similarities between SENSUAL SURRENDER and FATAL DECEPTION from Reus's other series.

That being said I did really like both Jay and Ellie; they're incredibly selfless and work hard to protect the other. Ellie might have made some mistakes in her past but her integrity can't be questioned. She's willing to give up everything to protect both Jay and her boss, Wyatt. Jay, of course, refuses to let Ellie slip away and he's your typical protective, dominant hero. The choice Jay and Ellie make in the ending was a bit different and I'm still a little conflicted over it, but I won't say anything else because I don't want to give anything away. I also really enjoyed seeing so much of the other characters in this book. Wyatt plays a big role, but we also see his wife, Iris; Jay's brother, Hayden, and his girlfriend Sierra (from the previous book) and there's clearly some set up for Vadim and the twins, Roman and Logan.

I loved Ellie and Jay. She works for Wyatt, one of the richest casino owners in Vegas and property developer worldwide. Jay leads Wyatt's personal security team. It was oddly one big happy family, even with the secondary characters who are part of Wyatt's team and her best friend Sierra. They truly have each other's backs!

Jay and Ellie's chemistry was off the charts. I love Jay's dominant, protective personality. He is the ultimate hero with sexy looks, military background and extincts, fierce love for Ellie...the list goes on!
I love Ellie's confidence and determination to protect those she loves from the trouble that comes knocking at her door.

The story jumps right into the action and doesn't stop until the end. It was a definite page turner. I am going to go back and read the first book in this series, although this book seems to be okay to read as a stand alone novel.

Sensual Surrender by Katie Reus
4 Stars
Ellie and Jay both work for the Serafina casino in Las Vegas. They also live together. Jay wants to make their relationship permanent and has plans to propose that very evening. He leaves for work as Ellie is getting ready. Just before Ellie leaves she receives a phone call; an exboyfriend. She thought for sure he would still be in prison. He threatens to harm those she loves if she doesn’t help me with an inside job at the casino. No knowing how else to keep her friends and Jay, Ellie quits her job and goes on the run.

This book is a little different that other romantic suspense books I have read in that Jay and Ellie are a couple at the beginning of the book. The plot was unique and I enjoyed every minute. There were some definite steamy moments, and a few sweet ones too.

I truly love this series and I can’t wait for more!

Jay and Ellie have been together for a year and after him almost being killed in a bombing he's finally feeling it's the right time to propose.

She is the happiest she's ever been, she has a great life, a great job and the best man who doesn't push for more. She's scared to get to comfortable though because every time she does something happens and she loses her happiness. But today feels different she is going to make him breakfast before his long day, except she doesn't have eggs so she runs next door to borrow some from her neighbor and when she returns by the look on Jay's face their will be no making breakfast she knows that look and what it means.

After a yummy distraction when she's getting ready for work she gets a call that does exactly what she was afraid of and erases that happiness. Will Ellie panic and leave or will she trust the man she loves with her darkest secrets and her less than desirable past. You'll have to read to find out. It will be totally worth the read.

Ellie has found happiness. She loves her job and her lover, Jay. He is the best thing that has happened to her. Her life is perfect until she receives a threatening phone call from an ex-boyfriend. He demands that she help him steal from her employer and friend, Wyatt Christiansen. Ellie is trapped. What can she do? Is she strong enough to leave? Ellie and Jay complete each other. They are a passionate couple who need to be together. Their relationship is deeply sensual and very romantic. The suspense-filled plot and strong characters kept me riveted. I love that Katie included people that we've met before. It was like taking a trip back home to catch up with friends. The action is non-stop. I must admit that the ending took me by surprise. Katie Reus is a excellent writer. This story is skillful crafted and left me wanting more. I am anxious for the next book in The Serafina: Sin City Series.

I was very lucky to be given an arc of this book by Netgalley for an honest review. This is the second book in Katie Reus's Seraphima-Sin City Series and this series is a take off from the Red Stone Security series. As I have read all those books and enjoyed them, I hoped I would love this. The first book of the series was a short novella and although good, was too short for me to get a feel for how this series would go. I am happy to say that the second book, Sensual Surrender gives me everything I look for in a Katie Reus book. There is an actual storyline as well as good romance. This is not a mystery but enough suspense and action to really keep me turning pages. Loved the primary characters as they both were good people, and really enjoyed getting glimpses of some secondary characters who I hope will get their own stories. If you liked any of the Red Stone Security books, I think you will enjoy this series and this book.

WOW - what a great story.

I received this book free for an honest review. Bought the first book after reading it.

I could not put the book down and it is my first read from this author. The action started right from the first page. The sex is HOT!

Following Jay and Ellie through there ups and down kept me riveted. When Ellie’s past comes back to hunt her down and she runs in fear. Jay can do nothing but rescue her from herself and her enemies.

I did not read First Surrender of "The Serafina: Sin City Series" This book can stand alone. I have purchased both book, as this is something that I will reread over and over again.

Be warned this book has an ending that will blow your mind!

This was a great story by a great author. I’ve read a number of her books and they don’t disappoint. I really liked both main characters as well as the plot. I recommend.

This audiobook is book 2 of the Serafina Sin City series by this talented author.
This one belongs to Ellie and Jay. Ellie is the PA for successful millionaire Wyatt Christensen and Jay is his lead bodyguard.
They have been together for a year and are totally in love. Jay is ready to propose , when he gets home to find a goodbye letter from Ellie. Ellie has left him and her job because someone from her past is after her and will harm anyone close to her. She refuses to have them hurt.
But when her boss and Jay have her followed and rescue her in her first attempt to solve her problems, they discover her secrets. Needless to say, Jay was NOT a happy camper.
It’s a story filled with intrigue, bad guys, hunky good guys, sex and romance.
A good story in this sexy series.
I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Katie Reus is a new-to-me author. I liked that Jay never gave up on Katie and didn't for one moment believe what she said in her note. I loved that though he was hurt and angry with her, he still went to comfort her and show her that he wanted her. Such a great hero -- showing us that you can be angry at someone even while loving them, and make the choice to control your anger because lashing out would hurt her even more, and she's already hurting.

I like that there was no long drawn-out drama and misunderstanding. Ellie realises pretty quickly that now her escape has been foiled, her best bet is to tell Jay all, even though she's afraid he'll reject her when he learns of her past. I loved that their boss, Wyatt, and other friends and co-workers rallied around them.

Definitely will look out for more books from Katie Reus!

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

Jay is almost ready to propose to Ellie. She has been his rock and helped him get back to top shape. She makes him want forever. But Ellie's past has caught up with her and her ex wants what she kept from him. And he wants it NOW. Ellie refuses to drag Jay into her murky past and attempts to go it alone. But Jay and her boss, Wyatt, have no intention of leaving her flapping in the wind on her own!

Jewel heists, stolen plans, dirty money - what has Ellie got herself into! Great story and engaging characters. Vegas itself is a character. I loved Jay and his will-do attitude. He has no intention of letting Ellie go, he just has to get her to see that he's in for the long haul. As a former SEAL he doesn't know the meaning of the word failure.
