Southern Grace #6

Miss Marple's B&B

Rate this book
Agatha O’Malley has led a charmed life, going straight from a wealthy family into a marriage with Charlie, a doctor, ten years her senior. She’s had the best things money can buy, but when Charlie dies two weeks after their 35th anniversary, he seems to be playing games from the grave. The old adage of, 'you can’t take it with you' isn’t holding true for Charlie. His fortune has mysteriously disappeared and his attorney claims to know nothing about it. With her small savings account dwindling, Agatha has nothing to fall back upon except the Victorian home that’s been in her family for four generations, and turning it into a B&B is her only hope to stay afloat. The kindness of each guest arriving at the B&B during this Christmas season soon brings Agatha to the realization that God is putting these people in her path for a reason, but she’s caught off guard when He reveals His purpose? A sweet romantic story of faith, hope, and redemption.

Wonderful Book!

I loved this book. I had a couple moments when I thought, "I didn't see that coming!" . I usually can see those moments coming so it was great to not figure things out before the end. I'm not good at writing reviews but this book compelled me to write one. I see "God moments" in my life too and like for authors to include them in the lives of their characters because they do happen! Thank you, Glenda, for a wonderful read.

Building a life after 60

I really enjoyed Miss Marples B&B, being close to the same age as Agatha, I can relate. Such a wonderful story of loss, finding out she needs to find some income, Agatha turns her home into a B&B, and by God's Grace, lovely people enter her life. This is number 6... of a wonderful series, each book has it's own story. I hope there will be more.

I needed this book

I lost my husband of 49 years less than two months ago. I'm 67 and in this day in age - that isn't ancient. My father is still alive at 93 and though he had 66 years with Mom - Itsekf realize that the last 4 years must have been harder than he let his only daughter witness to closely. I am not expecting or even wanting to find another life partner because you can't improve upon the type of perfection I had already but this book did bring me moments of hope that if I want it bad enough I can eventually find a life worth getting out of bed over. This is a book I might need to reread in a year or maybe 2 years when my grief isn't so fresh and new but I did realize that healing is different for everyone and it probably would be easier if I got back into Church again - find the right Church for me at this stage of my life. I know God is there always waiting to be let back into our lives once we relinquish control of it to him. This is an excellent series for me to be reading right now - especially since I'm rarely out of bed anyway. This series is funny, sad, inspirational, hopeful and I hope to read all in the series and if I have too - start reading them all I over again when I get to the end of the series!

A sweet story of coming out of the fog of grief and learning that life still holds joy. After Agatha O'Malley's husband, Charlie, died suddenly, she has to figure out how to provide for herself. A spur of the moment decision to turn her home into a bed and breakfast leads to growth, recovery, new friendships, contentment, and joy.

A quick read, not deep, with religious thoughts and church attendance seemingly thrown in to merit the "Inspirational" category. But I don't read these types of books for theological education...it was a nice, easy read that gave me a mental break from other, more demanding things on my shelf.

God speaks....

I'm truly loving this series of books. So many remainder of God's love and care for us on a daily basis. We all have the tendency to jump right into our days without a single thought about what God would want for us to do. The book reminds us to be still and listen to hear direction from God and maybe save ourselves from a little unnecessary trouble.

Life is a mystery for Agatha

Widowed for two years and no end in sight for her grief, Agatha has to come up with a plan to go on with life.
Twists in plot and relationships make Miss Marples B&B a fun read.

A beautiful tribute to God’s Grace!

This was a lovely little book. A little sad but it’s all about new hope for a widow starting over. It’s full of finding joy and moments of grace. I love Park Place and it’s great to read more about the people in it!

A good uplifting read

I rated this highly because it was lighthearted and positive. It was just what was needed with all the havoc taking place in America and so many haters on the rampage. God does intervene in our lives for good when we have love for Him and our neighbor.

Very good and inspiring book that I’ve read for the second time!

Read it again today as I ‘recovered’ from a joyous Christmas Day with family. I loved Agatha’s resiliency and determination. Very inspiring. I remembered that I want to make the Orange Slice cake, so I went on the hunt for the recipe. Decided I didn’t have the energy, not to mention not having all the ingredients in the pantry, so ... maybe next year!

One of the best of this series.

This book was amazing to see how faith and God’s grace can work in our lives if we believe in God’s promises. It’s not easy getting old and losing your spouse. Being thrown into a life alone and dealing with the grief. Dealing with financial issues and making life changing decisions. But to see what God does in His timing when we are obedient to Him is such a miracle. I certainly recommend this book.
