It’s never about a slave. It’s about a passionate and smart woman who will never ever be a slave to no one.
Meet Sofia, Aya’s best friend (from the 1st book which I haven’t read yet) who is smart, fearless, and a 100% career woman. She will never be a slave, even a slave of her own heart. But, what if it only takes one meeting with a strange guy, who turned out to be the villain who almost destroyed her best friend’s life, to change everything? Will she let her heart decide and be the slave of her own feeling?
My first assumption about Sofia’s story is that it won’t be in the same level of greatness as Sybina’s story. Frankly, I was mistaken. Sofia’s wittiness, sassiness, and her smart retorts are entertaining. Well, of course the hot chemistry and sexy banter between her and Oliver surely add up to the story. Even so, Sofia is not the dominant character in the story. Oliver has his own spotlight too and I didn’t expect the attack on Oliver will leave a deep scar that changes Oliver’s character throughout half of the story. It changes the dynamic between him and Sofia. Suddenly, I don’t think Sofia is a perfect heroine like Sybina. She is with many flaws, including her indecisiveness to take a chance with Oliver.
I love how Elin changes the rhythm of this book so different from the previous one. Here, you won’t find the war, the devastation, the slavery. Instead, you will find a situation close to our daily life and makes us think about how following our heart doesn’t always mean we will be a slave of our own feeling. Why? Because it is never about a slave.
