He is having a difficult time connecting with his students and their standardized test scores have dropped since he arrived. He is on his last year of his Initial License and must how he is competent to advance to a Standard License by the State Board of Education and time is running out. When all hope seemed lost, his path crossed with Harrison Tan, who would change his life forever."
This book was a great read for the weekend before school starts. It was recommended to me by an elementary principal in my district, and its lessons are great for all aspects of life, but they're particularly pertinent to beginning educators, since the main character who is learning the lessons IS a beginning educator. I hope to use this book with my team of mentor coaches as well as with the beginning educators in my district. It is a quick, easy read that really packs a punch.
Reread February, 2018, for a Mentor Team book study
As a new teacher, I love this book. Not only is it a good read that you can get done in one night, but it also has some good advice for new teachers. I even took notes incase I was having a tough day, so I remember to look back on what I read. I did purchase the second book in this series, but have yet to read it. Great book!
