Heed this warning seriously. This book is not for the weak it is an extreme horror novel that is meant to test your limits. If you can not handle gory details please do not read this book. If you feel you can handle this type of book please enjoy! Fiona is a career driven woman in her mid thirties who has woken up in a strange place with her hands and feet restrained to a bed. She has no idea where she is and how she got there. How would you react inthis situation? For Fiona everything she has gone through and will go through leads her onto a path she may never recover from.
Okay so this is like a mix of an extreme horror/splatterpunk and then kind of delves into a dark romance as well as it goes on. If you liked Sick Fux by Tillie Cole, this has similar vibes.
Now: trigger warnings. Check them. Thoroughly. Seriously. Nothing really gets to me and this one made me extremely uncomfortable at times. There’s r*pe, there’s **extreme** abuse, there’s removal of body parts, there’s A LOT. It’s extremely unsettling and you will be uncomfortable and sick to your stomach but will want to know what happens next. I do not recommend this to anyone who is not already well versed in extreme horror and splatterpunk. This is not a *nice* book. This is not meant to be a sweet love story. This is meant to shock.
I wouldn’t say I *enjoyed* this as much as I think what the author did was done well. The content of this book make me angry and upset and that’s exactly what the author wants so 👏🏻 for you friend!
It’s the author’s first published work, so an editor could definitely go through it to catch spelling and grammar errors, but my review is not based on that as I understand that editors are not necessarily accessible to indie authors. So, if you’re going to read it and are gonna be a dink about that kind of stuff: just don’t. The author is aware.
Overall: well done Thomas! You sure know how to write fucked up shit. I can’t wait to read more!
first of all if you have a weak stomach or can’t handle extreme gore, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!!
the author does give you a warning but let this be another warning that there is some VERY dark and messed up scenes in here. this book is like 90% gore, 9% sex, and 1% plot.
i think i liked this book just because of the fact that it was like challenge to me for me to finish it, as far as the plot goes though it was a bit empty and rushed, thus my rating of 1 star
the end had my jaw on the FLOOR because like wtf?!?!
This was a fucked up novel, in the best way. I genuinely did not see some of these plot twists and the horror was so gruesome and vile. A great extreme horror novel and such a quick read!
Wow! This is my first Horror/erotica and let me tell you this was gripping from the first sentence. Thomas J Kline has made me a fan. It was well written and the twists and turns were outstanding. From the beginning to the end you just never knew how Jeremy was going to engage with his captives. Let’s not even mention the brilliant ending. Jeremy always knew that this was going to be HIS life not to share that with anyone. He is excellent in his craft. Loved this read!
This is honestly so bad, I would give it zero stars if I could. There's no plot, no actual story, no substance and the characters are shallow. Not sure what the "limit-testing horror" Thomas described this book as, is. The entire book is just misogyny and the mutilation of women. It's not horror and it's not worth your money. And the formatting is so bad! It's written like a childs' Word document, no formatting or editing at all. Here's an actual line from the book: '"HELP ME!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!! Please let me go please tell me why I am here someone any one PLEASE!!!!!!!!!" The tears are coming uncontrollably now I can't seem to shake them or this ever growing fear of what is happening to me.' No commas where they should be, hundreds of exclamation points, misspelled words, bad dialogue. So frustrating.
My Monster Author: Thomas J Kline Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 Format: eBook
My Monster by Thomas J Kline is a horror story that follows a man with extremely strong, horrifying urges. Urges he doesn't plan to fight any time soon. He takes his “prizes” when he can and he’s meticulous when it comes to the “games” he likes to play. But what happens when his newest “prize” starts to love the game? Is this better or worse for him?
This is one of the most interesting POVs I've read. This story really does a good job of challenging your personal moral standing. It helps you understand the mind of a deranged killer and at some points the story really shows you how normal they think that way of life is. And as you read, you start to follow them and want to know more. There's a trigger warning at the beginning of the book and honestly, it was really well placed. This is a hard book.
The author states that this is his first book released to the public and you can tell. There's MANY grammatical mistakes. The POV changes are not clearly stated and sometimes switch depending on the paragraph. It's not easy to follow. I was not a fan of how it ended as well. It felt very rushed to me and it could have gone a much different way. Or it could have even ended the same way, just more thought out. It felt as though the ending was an afterthought and that was rough for me because it was honestly really well thought out and a great read for me until then.
It took me a long time to ponder if this novel deserved 3 stars or 4. Personally, I wanted to give it 4 stars because it was a REALLY good book. But as most of my reviews show, an ending can really make or break it for me and unfortunately then ending just barely tipped the scale back to a 3 for me.
I will not be recommending this book. If someone already has it and asks, I'll tell them how much I enjoyed it. But I will not be recommending it. There's a trigger warning in the beginning telling you to not read it if you can’t handle HEAVY gore and moral questioning. I highly advise you to take that warning if you have ANY triggers. This is not even remotely for kids.
I read someone's review about this book, and they said that this is the authors first book and so he might've not had access to an editor, sooo I'm not going to say much about all the grammar errors and run-on sentences. BUT I didn't like that it wasn't highlighting who was talking at the moment and who wasn't... took me a while to figure out who was. "My king, my queen, my dear, my love" a bit corny/ cheesy LOL. This was actually pretty fucked up and gory... The ending made me kinda giggle because I was like "welp damn .-."
If saw was a book instead of a movie then this would be it. It was so crazy. The things that went down in this book were 😬🤢 It was however a good book. I think if you can get past the gore and triggers of it all then you’re in for a good book. It gives you a deeper dive into the minds of these characters and I enjoyed that.
This book is gruesome. It doesn't have much of trigger warning although it definitely needs more. It had some nice twists. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 18 and definitely do research before reading if you get triggered by sexual stuff or gore etc
there's so much and yet so little to be said about this one. the smallest part first: the grammatical errors, the typos, the inconsistent narration flipping between past and present tense, it's enough to give a literature teacher a heart attack.
it's a stockholm syndrome story but in the most vile ways possible.
the plot holes: page 67 "'yes i am' she replied through chattering teeth" so, she had no teeth by this point. you removed them all yourself.
page 119 "[...]freeing my d!ck from its confides with blood all over her hands she stroked me[...]" so, at this point she only has one hand. you made her remove the other one herself.
[SPOILERS] GIRL HE KIDNAPPED YOU HE TORTURED YOU HE SEVERED YOUR LIMBS HE REMOVED ALL OF YOUR TEETH HE BURNED YOU HE CUT OFF YOUR NIPPLES HE CARVED A FLOWER IN YOUR FACE HE RAPED YOU REPEATEDLY HE FED YOU YOUR OWN FOOT BLENDED INTO A SMOOTHIE HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY MARRY HIM IN THE END WHAT THE FUCK??????

On my god. I don't know who edited this book if any attempts were made at all but it's absolutely terrible. Words were spelt wrong, words were missed out then there were huge gaps here and there. I carried on regardless as the bone structure of the story was ok(ish) just to see where it lead and was pleasantly surprised by the ending as all the way through the book I didn't really get where this would end.
Unfortunately as I say the editing was very inarticulate which put a huge wet flannel across the whole book. Sorry Thomas but a couple of hours on your spell checker would have made a huge difference.
Had a good idea, some twists I didn't foresee, but for the love of God it needed an editor! It would switch perspectives between characters so fast while still delayed (like the new character did a previously on 'my monster'). Honestly I would have rated higher but the plot was rushed, and the ended left a lot to be desired. Jeremy went from in love to unhinged and wanting to end his 'marriage' too quickly. If he'd tried to ignore some pet peeves she'd presented along the way, a slow build up with the lack of playthings (HIS choice to have killed off mind you) being the final straw, sure I love it. Up until the last 2 pages overall I did enjoy it.

I read my monster a while ago. Since then I have gifted this book to at least 10 people. This book was everything and more. Fiona and Jeremy were like Bonnie and Clyde on steroids. The perfect amount of love, blood, guts and gore made MM a great romantic horror. I love a detailed, graphic, erotic horror. Thomas J Klein delivered all of that in this little novella. Perfect ending. I even own a I ❤️ Jeremy coffee mug. My Monster was my number 2 read for 2023.
bro what. there were loads of spelling and grammatical errors, strange sentence structure, and overall just weird cheesy writing. while there were times that i physically recoiled while reading because of the graphic content, there were other times i was just downright cringing. this book reads like a 12 year old wrote it and the relationship between the main two antagonists is downright childish. not what i was expecting at all given the generally positive reviews.
Honestly I have sat on this review digesting it……..and I am glad I did because I have found that I really enjoyed the book and I recommend it often for erotic horror lovers
This was sick, twisted, depraved and the perfect short horror book, complete with everything you think of when you think extreme horror Including a love story
If this is your genre then you absolutely have to get this book, it still lives rent free in my head 2 months later
