I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This book is actually by the same author as the short story anthology that I read yesterday, although I didn't notice that at the time I was requesting it. I definitely prefer this longer story to the other collection though. The dialogue was still a little bit awkward at times and the mystery plot was still I think too overshadowed by the sexy bits, but overall the characters were fun and likable and the story was enjoyable and although things did seem a little bit rushed it was still a pretty fun, quick read. If you're in the habit of skipping the sex scenes in books like this you might be disappointed because there are quite a few of them, but they are pretty well written overall.

2.5 Heart Review by Cindy

If you’ve read my reviews before, you know that werewolf/shifter books are my favorite genre and so I started reading this book with lots of hope for a good story.

But, my hopes were dashed.

Elijah, Jayden and Chogan are all likable characters but the whole thing just never jelled for me. The beginning felt rushed and stilted. I felt like more attention should have been paid to the horror that happened in young Jayden’s life. But it was told as more of a recitation of facts than anything else and did little to entice the reader to continue reading the story.

In fact, I felt like the whole book was rushed. There was very little angst because everything happened so quickly that there was no time for anticipation to build.

My biggest complaint though is that it feels like the whole thing was written just to showcase the (admittedly hot) sex scenes. The story of the killer lurking in the woods had real potential to be something kinda scary but the bad guy is kind of obvious from the get-go. I would have loved to have seen the story focus on that aspect a little more and give our characters some time to grow and become more real to the reader.

Because everything happened so easily, I had a hard time staying interested long enough to finish this book.

On the plus side, like I said, the sex was hot. The premise had real merit and the characters were all men I could have gotten really attached to if I’d been given the chance to know more about them.

Joshua, Elijah’s father and Jayden’s adopted dad is about the coolest parent on the face of the planet, but then again, when you spend every day dealing with horrors that most people don’t know exist, it’s probably easier to worry about that than who your son is in love with.

I really wish the author had spent more time on character and plot development and less time on stuffing as much sex as possible into the story.

Three and a half stars!
The story is an odd mix of established couple meets slow burn menage. I found the storyline with the strange killings and markings interesting. I wasn’t too surprised who the bad guy wound up being. However his reasons were different. I liked how it was explained, and how the magic and mystical elements were described. The relationship between Chogan, Jayden, and Elijah didn’t mesh well. WIth two sort of being together already, but not really. And then each having feelings for each other but unable to admit it. I just didn’t feel the emotions they claimed to have. I didn’t believe the three would work long term. The author creates very fascinating lore so I’m hoping they write more paranormal, or maybe even fantasy, in the future.

I recived an arc of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

From what I am able to gather this is the second edition of this book but I don't know if it was expanded at all from its previous form.

I will say I had a really hare time getting into this book but I do not enjoy present tense at all. It takes a lot for me to fall into a story in present tense in order to enjoy it most of the time this story came off as clunky in need of a second polishing with an editor. While I enjoyed the idea behind the plot and characters I wasnt able to connect with them very well because how the plot flowed in present tense. I tried to enjoy how we got to see each chapter from different perspectives and I can see a lot of potential here but for me personally it didn't work. Though I am happy to see a diverse polyam relationship triad.
