He was the son of an old family, a family not only of wealth but a great history going back hundreds of years. As such his future had been mapped out at birth. He knew his duty and had never given it much thought. Until his years in the marines showed him a different world. Still, he was more than happy to follow the status quo, until he met her. She was the daughter of the groundskeeper, someone they both knew would never be accepted by his peers and definitely not by his mother. But how could he deny the heat between them each time they meet? Or ignore what his heart tells him each time he looks into her eyes? Will he defy convention, turn his back on his duty to his family name? Or will he give in and condemn himself to a life of misery without her?
It's a good story. He's not the OTT alpha male I'm used too when it comes to Jordan Silver heroes.
The story is about Ethan and Lucia.
He's from a very wealthy family and his mother expected him to marry a woman he knew since they were kids who's also from a wealthy family and carry on the family name. He let his mother rule his life and it's a matter of time before they get engaged formally but then he met his groundskeeper's daughter.
He tried to fight his feelings to protect her from his mother and their circle but when she's about to leave, he knew he can't let her go.
I actually enjoyed this one. Some of Jordan Silver's stories can be a little ott, but this was on the tamer side. I'm glad the H quickly decided to pursue his feelings for the h. I hate when an author has the main characters fight their feelings for almost the whole book just to create unnecessary drama.
Another good story from Ms. Silver. The only thing I didn't like was at the beginning when Ethan was ready to marry someone he didn't love because they came from the same social class and was ready to put Lucia out of his mind.
Ethan knew he could not be with Lucia, his heart wanted her but she was below his station in life. However, Ethan realizes being married to someone he didn't love would never satisfy him and decides to follow his heart and claim Lucia. He is met with disdain by his mother who has carefully planned his life and is determined to destroy Lucia. Will Ethan give in to pressure or follow the path he is meant to lead.
I liked this one and if you are looking for a insta love short story definitely one to pick up. The chemistry is there and I liked the overall rags to riches theme.
This is J.S.’s version of the unsuitable wife trope but since her H’s are usually OBSESSED with their h’s, this doesn’t follow the typical formula. If you’re familiar with this author you know what you’re in for, in case you’re not, she usually writes trashier smut romances. They aren’t super-duper polished (fair amount of editing issues) and certainly not literary masterpieces. I’ve read a lot of her stuff and would say this falls in her milder/more plot-based romances. I believe it takes place in the present time, but it very much felt like a 70-80’s southern old money soap opera.
Ethan is an ex-marine and heir to the Sullivan fortune. He has been groomed and expected to marry Helen Thorn since childhood and accepted his duty until meeting the new gardener’s daughter two years earlier. Now that he has taken over and is 30-ish (I think) he is being pressured to make things official, but Lucia his secret love is legal and making her interest known.
Bottom Line- I was in the mood for easy and this delivered. I enjoyed it but doubt I’ll reread it again. It’s pretty tame for her stuff. There’s a solid storyline, there’s smut but not a ton (he waits for marriage to seal the deal and that takes ¾ of the book), and there’s plenty of delicious drama-llama provided by his snooty mother.
Its all about the hero. Sometimes Jordan writes a gem and this is pretty close. This isn't insta sex if youre going into it your wrong. Hes a throwback, told in his point of view, a lot of the good stuff does not happen until well into the book, but I thought he was a great H. I love a good age difference, class difference story and its all wrapped up here in a nice quick short read. Recommend.
"When Worlds Collide" is the story of Lucia and Ethan. So... This had JS writing a typical romance novel plot- a super rich guy falling for the poor heroine, who is the daughter of his gardener. Now lemme first give the positives in this book -The hero wasnt mean or pissy violent as I expected -He actually loved the heroine -May/December -The heroine and her dad had a backbone Now my issues with this one -The backstory to establish the discripancies between their financial status kept going on and on -The couple gets together at 80% mark sexually -I did not like the hero's disdain towards the heroine's poverty in the first half, or his vow to follow his family values -The Though this did end on a sweet note with resolution of issues, including the bitchy mother, other things rubbed me the wrong way- making this an overall average read. SWE 2/5
3.5 stars. It's been so long to read her novels with build-up, although the build-up mostly exit in H's thoughts, better than most of her recent works. All in all, her latest two works show that she is finally back to her early writing style.
3 1/2 STARS !! Ethan Sullivan is 30 years old, he was born into a very wealthy family and they have certain expectations of him. His time in the Marines taught him that money and social standing don't mean anything and that all men are the same. His mother expects him to marry Helen, the daughter of another rich family who he's known since they were kids. He probably would've went through with it if he never met Lucia, the 19 year old daughter of his mother's new groundskeeper. He was completely captivated by Lucia from the first moment he saw her. He wanted her and the feeling was mutual but he knew if he brought her into his world she would be destroyed. He saw it happen before when a friend of his married outside his class circle and the woman was treated horribly and ended up killing herself. Lucia is too special and he will not allow her innocence and light to be snuffed out by his mother and others like her. What happens when Lucia tells him she's leaving for good to join the Navy ? I would've liked this book a lot more if Ethan would've grew a set of balls sooner and made his move on Lucia. Also it totally irked me when he said her pussy tasted like sunshine in a fresh meadow.
°Virgin heroine °Experienced hero °Only hero's POV °He's 30, she's 19 °Hero celibate after meeting the heroine °No OM drama °OW drama °No separation °No cheating °Intimate scenes only between the MCs °Epilogue: 3 months later
This was relatively tame for a Jordan Silver book. There was still the usual heat mid way through the story and I liked that the characters were vivid. Would have liked to have gotten to know them more.
This is the story of Ethan and Lucia, when their worlds collide with one another. They come from very different social standings. Ethan comes from old money where social class standing matters and is still a very real thing. Lucia, however is the daughter of a gardener and housekeeper. Her parents work for Ethan's family and have for about two years. Lucia has made it very clear that she has feelings for Ethan and she knows he has feelings for her as well. Unfortunately Ethan has known for a long time that his mother has chosen Helen to be his wife, she is of the same social class as Ethan and his family and their families have been acquaintances most of Ethan's life. So they have been intended to marry since they were kids. Ethan never really cared that he was supposed to marry Helen, he didn't have feelings on the matter either way. He was just planning on marrying Helen out of family obligation. Ethan hasn't really had any kinds of feelings for anyone until he sees Lucia. Ethan been fighting his feelings for Lucia for a long time and he knows he can't drag her into his life because the people in his class standing would look down on her, tear her apart and make her feel unworthy. Ethan will not stand for anyone making Lucia feel badly about herself or where she comes from, so he decides to stay away from her and fight his feelings. Until Lucia informs him she can not and will not sit by and watch him marry someone else. She is going to join the navy and follow in her father's footsteps to fight for her country. Ethan freaks out and says she can't leave him especially to do something so dangerous. To find out what happens you need to read this book. Will Lucia leave? Will Ethan go ahead with marrying Helen? Or will Ethan finally stop fighting his feelings for Lucia and start fighting to keep Lucia with him permanently? This is an awesome story with strong characters and definitely a must read.
After returning from serving for the Marines, Ethan knew that his duty would be to marry someone of his station and produce heirs. He never counted on her. One look at Lucia and Ethan's world spiraled. Will he go against the grain and choose who he wants? Will they get their happy ever after?
Loved this Jordan Silver book! It was hot and steamy with a twist. I did understand Ethan's POV and was happy when he put his foot down before it was to late. Great read!

Sorry I got to 27% and couldn't take it any more. This was so far away from what I've read from Jordan in the past it's unbelievable that Jordan wrote it. Now, I know her books do have a lot of inner dialogue, but usually it's entertaining. This book up to what I read was so stupidly sappy and boring I fell asleep 3x's and that was just to 27%! Sorry I do not recommend, thank goodness it was free with kindle unlimited.
One of the best books so far by Jordan Silver. Ethan and Lucia know they can't be together. He comes from money while she comes from a working class family. His mother has already chosen his bride to be and she's not taking no for an answer..will Ethan finally stand up to his mother or will she force Lucia to leave Ethan forever?? Drama..true love and a couple who fight to be together..what more do you need??
Jordan's done it again with a Marine Alpha. No one writes a strong man like her . Lucia fell crazy in love with Ethan. His long time girlfriend has big plans for him but Lucia is going to wreck them.
Ethan knows Lucia is the right woman for him and finally had enough of his meddling other's matchmaking. He's taking control of Lucia once and got all. He hopes she can keep up. Great book!!
A quick read but a good one. The intimate scenes are so detailed I felt like a voyeur. I love that it was told by the man's point of view. My only complaint was that it was anticlimactic. No real story line however the love story was great. I would have liked to see the writer develop Lucia's character more.
The first Chp had me all excited and I couldn't wait to come home and read. However, Mmy excitement idn't last after reading 2 chapters.
I'm all for guys going after what they want but this book was really boring bc of all.the sex. I swear I skimmed thru the rest of the book cos it was just SEX SEX SEX N MORE SEX.
The characters in this story are fantastic, Ethan and Lucia especially are well written, and his mother is just a witch. I liked the plot/story-line, and all of Ethan's internal angst. The writing is good with only a few very small editing issues. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fun story Jordan Silver!
I’ve circled around this book for a year before I finally took a chance on it. Jordan Silver did not disappoint. It’s not her typical sexually charged novel. A bit old world forbidden love with a bitter mother filled with venom. Always with a twist at the end. Good stuff!
Another hot read from Momma Butterfly!!! Ethan and Lucia make things more complicated than they have to be. When things become clear and choices made, the consequences turn out to be easy to deal with. Definitely recommend
This is another awesome book. I can’t wait for the next one. So much passion. I hope she never gives up writing. I especially love when another woman makes the heroin jealous. There is never cheating a another reason I love her books.
A sweet refreshing novella told from male POV. I loved the intensity of their love. And it reminded me of several Thai and Hindi soap opras I watched as a kid. The hero always falls for the daughter of housekeeper with an evil fiancée and mother in law in the mix.
No OM drama OW drama - MMC is engaged but doesn't have feelings for her and anyway once he became aware of his feelings for the FMC he was loyal and OTT af
