Sarah Reynolds doesn't believe in love. To her the myth of love belongs in fairy tale stories for little girls. She knows sex and money make the world go round. Matthew Weiss is a tough bodyguard who isn't interested in meeting the right girl. He is dedicated to keeping his next mark safe from a very dangerous person, at any cost. At their first meeting, their attraction sparks to life. Falling in love isn't part of the plan but neither are the lies and betrayal that will tear them apart. When the lies come to light, the only thing on Sarah's mind is revenge and making him pay.
I can't believe I'm giving 2 stars to Regan Ure. I love her writing and her books, but this one... Well, let say I didn't expect that. Too many words repetition. Too many identical scenes. I couldn't get Sarah and her personality. She is one of the dumbest and annoying heroines I have ever read about. And about Matt... I wish I have read some chapters from his POV. I bet it would be more exciting than reading about Sarah's "same shit, different day" babbling. And the end, oh God...I wanted to slap Matt for even thinking like that. Like, really? What exactly did you find in Sarah? I couldn't get the connection between Matt and Sarah, except the physical one(obviously). They were just too different. Regan, I'm sorry, but this book is awful and I don't know if it even deserves 2 stars.
Regan Ure did it again. I LOVE everything about the stories and characters in the Living Bad Series. I hope she continues to write more books about the gives of these characters.
Alright, so besides the whole back and forth of “I love him. No he’s an asshole”, I feel tears coming. Like holy fucking complicated! But the ending killed me. I really enjoyed the book!
This is part there from loving bad. If you want to know how Matt feels and how he came Matt this is his story . Still good just not the two main characters.

And once again I was not let down with this series! It was completely different then the other book in this series yet I still loved this book. Once again still would love a Matt’s POV.
Half way through this book I started reading Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover and that quickly became my all time favourite. Nothing compared it seemed. So when I finally picked up Breaking Matt again it just didn’t hit the same. Midway through it started reminding me of her previous books in the collection, similar storyline’s but I kept reading because I do love Regan Ure’s books. Happy to say the book improved and took its own storyline that differed from the previous books in the series and I quite enjoyed the ending. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous books so far in the collection but I did still enjoy it. 3.5 ⭐️ if it would let me put that :)
I love Matt! I fell for him in Loving Bad, needed more of him in Surviving Slater, and was very much looking forward to a book on him.
I think that if you read this as a standalone, not because you want more of Matt, you will rate it higher than I did. It was a very good New Adult book.
The main character in the book is not Matt though, and there lies the problem for me, a Matt fan... Towards the end of the book you know as much about him as you knew in the beginning. He is a tough bodyguard with a heart of gold... even though towards the end she kind of writes him a little mean. I get it though, who wouldn't on his shoes?
The main character is Sarah. She is a spoiled rich girl who does't believe in love and will pretty much use boys to satisfy her needs. Her internal monologues through out the book for the most part drove me nuts. It is only towards the end, when she is miserable, that I start to like her. Maybe because she is miserable? I am heartless like that 🤣
The story goes more or less like so (spoiler free): Sarah's dad is a powerful man with many enemies. One of them is proving to be a real treat. He hires bodyguards to watch over his daughter. Matt gets closer to her but doesn't tell her he is a bodyguard (since she refuses to have one). Things spiral out of control from there, both in their relationship and on the threats over her life.
I personally needed Breaking Matt to focus on Matt as much as it did on Sarah and not mostly on Sarah. I like strong male character presence in my romance books.
Another thing that this book was missing for me was a stronger connection to the previous books. My favorite thing about Surviving Slater (review here) was how well it incorporated the characters from the first book. Here the characters from the first book are mentioned once than never again, and the characters from the second book not at all. That sadden me.
All in all though it was a fab book, I am just giving it a hard time because I wanted more of Matt.
