There was something about this book that just captured me. It is well written & I couldn't put it down until it was finished. This is story about a small town mechanic, Andrew 'Ace' & a young woman, Michelle, staring a new life after graduating from law school. Michelle is new in town & has car problems right off the bat. Ace helps to get her car running again but she cannot afford to pay his bill. When she confesses her money problems to Ace they end up having a sex in his office. Several months later, Ace finds himself getting into hot water with the local police. When he goes to meet his attorney, he is surprised to see the mystery woman from his office is appointed to defend him. Neither of them has forgotten that one intense & hot hook-up they had. Michelle wants to keep everything professional but Ace has other ideas.
This was just one of those books that spoke to me. I'm not sure I can really pin point what is was that captured me but I just was in love with these two characters. Kira Blakey is a talented writer who has truly evolved into a wonderful story teller. Hands down this was one of my favorite reads of the year so far. This book is meant for mature readers.

Great chemistry between Andrew and Michelle. Lots of nefarious/scheming secondary characters. Although it didn't seem like Lola or Chet received the punishment they deserved for their crimes!
Throttle by Kira Blakely a full on five-star read. I am getting to point that I have loved everything Kira has written, and am now worried what will I do if her next one isn’t as good as this one? As this one was amazing. I loved how Ace was just a mechanic with a small-town life, and small-town problems like the local police Deputy Chet Browntooth. I am almost tempted to send a copy of this book to my mechanic to show him how to show a woman a good time, as years ago we used to date and for our first date he took me to a railway museum. (I like trains and museums but not on a first date). But is a wedding any better? He could also do with some other tips from Ace. All I can say is Michelle is one lucky lady. But she may not feel it right now, as she has her own problems to deal with. Kira Blakely has once again written a five-star read. She shows us once again what an amazing writer she is, creating characters that you fall in love with, and baddies you would happily throat punch without a second thought. The passion falls off the page, and you can’t put this book down.
This is the 5th book I read by Kira Blakely. I really liked the hot & steamy scenes. I really liked Andrew's character. I liked the scenes with Andrew & Connie. This book's story line was okay. Michelle's character was okay.
I ADORED Andrew...so sweet, so sexy and just truly kind. Michelle on the other hand, i found her to be a freaking bitch. I couldn't stand her. She was so mean and unnecessarily rude to Andrew. And do fickle. I really thought he could do better.

Beautifully written. Phenomenal characters. Realistic relationship. Smooth character development. I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish. Ace & Michelle were a match made in heaven even though they were polar opposites (outside of sex). They both had realistic issues and I could totally see this romance happening in real life. My least favorite character was the cop Chet. I hated his guts but he played his role well. No one would have known he was really psychotic.
The storyline between Michelle and Andrew "Ace" is a good read. They meet when her car brakes down and he fixes it, only then does she realize the she has no move to pay. You have to read it, to see how it ends. I give this book 4 stars. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Loved this quick, steamy read by Kira Blakely. She really hit out of it out of the park with Ace & Michelle. The chemistry between these two was undeniable. I really liked how they were opposites but it just worked for them, they both moved beyond there past ghosts and fought the current ones to be together.

Kira never fails to entertain me with her wonderful words. I devoured this book, was hooked from page one. She has a great writing style that really sticks with you. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
A fast paced read filled with drama, action, some suspense, a few twists and plenty of passionate steam. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Seemed like a lot of drama for a short story but it was interesting drama and not all from the source you think (like ow ex stuff although how he managed not to kill that bitch I'll never know) it was more about learning about oneself and learning to trust again.....not as deep as some other books I've read but still entertaining and just enough head shaking drama to keep me interested! Had to dock a star because some of the descriptions for the sexy times made me cringe....anytime 'sopping wet' is said my lady boner instantly deflates.....
A one night fling that changes two lives months later. A pretty lawyer defending her fling, sparks fly, stubbornness rules. Can these two make it past insecurities and physical threats. Nobody can take what's his and he'll damn well prove it. An enjoyable read with the main characters being relatable. Not sure I liked the ending but not all stories end how we want, not necessarily a bad thing. I'd tell my fiends who read this genre to give it a read 😉
This was a great read however I just felt it was lacking something, like the characters needed a bit more development to really connect with them. Michelle and Ace ran a bit hot and cold for me, like how Michelle walks in on Ace at the wedding with Lola and Michelle leaves and he just stays at the wedding even though he cares for her? It was still a great read though especially if you are after a hot n heavy read.

I received an Advanced Reader’s Copy in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed reading Michelle and Andrew's story. It's a very steamy romance with some mystery and drama. I didn't like some of the language or phrases used in the love scenes (it made the book seem a bit dated) but if you can get passed that, then I really think you'll enjoy this book as well.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book, I found the story to be okay, both characters are dealing with issues in their pasts and find reluctance in trusting and moving on despite their attraction. Chet is a twisted being who uses his power as a police deputy to manipulate and stalk Michelle.
Michelle just got her first job out of college as a lawyer, and just moved states away to become a public defender in Texas. Just her luck that her vehicle breaks down. She's at the shop, and her bills a lot more that she thought it would be. The mechanic/owner Ace is undeniably the sexiest man she's ever met. He calls her into his office to hopefully set up a payment plan when he scrunches up the bill, and welcomes her to the area. She still can't deny him, and she's not the type of girl to have one night stands but there's something that she can't control. He tells her to leave, but they clash in the hottest one night stand right there in his office.
6 months later Ace/Andrew is arrested at a roadside stop, and is assigned a public defender. When he arrives to the lawyer's office, he's greeted by the last woman he expected.... Michelle. He let Michelle know exactly what happened at the roadside stop & how it was all officer Chet's antagonizing. He's really not to worried about the charges anymore, he's more concentrating on the woman standing in front of him, and how to get her.
Michelle has a lot of relationship issues/anxiety issues, that she has to overcome. Along with a burglar breaking into her house, that the cops don't seem to get the notices, or they don't seem to be taking anything of value.
Ace/Andrew is struggling with whether or not he's his daughter biological father. Trying to get Michelle to see what's going on between them, and getting the charges against him dropped.
Loved this book! Worth the read!!! "I voluntarily received an ARC of this book for my honest review."
I received an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I totally enjoyed the banter in this book. I laughed so hard at how the characters reacted to each other.
Michelle is a lawyer who is a public defender. She just started working as a lawyer when her car breaks down. When the hot mechanictakes, who she had a hard time taking her eyes off of, takes pitty on her and throws out the bill she has a quickie with him that left her longing for more but she never planned to see him again.
Andrew, "Ace," a mechanic, tries to work out a payment plan with Michelle and when she tells him what she can afford he throws out the bill. She gets so excited and suddenly seems so turned on, he tells her to tell him to stop, she doesn't, and they have a quickie. Months later, he is arrested and provided with a public defender, when he goes to meet the lawyer he is surprised to find it is Michelle, who he hasn't been able to stop thinking about. He lets her know that the officer who arrested him has it out for him, at which point she recieves an alert about a break in to her home. Her car breaks down again on her way home and Andrew tows to home. She has told him on the way she lives next to a cop, when they arrive he tackles the person on her porch, only to recognize him as the officer who arrested him. Michelle hasn't met her neighbor yet and Andrew ends up introducing the cop to her.
The antics only get better from there. One of my favorite parts is when Michelle says "I'll be fine, Andrew. I'll call you - at your garage. For the total on my vehicle." and Andrew responds, "No, no. You can call me on my cell anytime you'd like. You can text that number, too."
Simply must read to find out more about Andrew's history with Chet (the cop), about Michelle and why she does acts like she does and how Andrew and Michelle's personalities mix.
I have read other books by this author, and none have ever disappointed in the romance area.
In this book we have Andrew or "Ace" a local mechanic.
We also have Michelle - a new to town public defender lawyer.
The things about small towns, is usually if you went to mid school / high school there you stay there in adulthood, Andrew stayed of course. He was driving home one night and was going through a police checkpoint, which was manned by Chet, a police officer, who has it out for Andrew. As Chet & Andrew grew up together, Chet knew which buttons to press, and how to rile Andrew up. After Chet said something, Andrew of course said he was abusing his powers as a police officer, and Chet booked him for disobeying an officer. Andrew was thrown in jail and charged of course. Andrew is a good man, an honest hard working man, but his past catches up with him and people want to believe he is what he was in the past. They don't want to believe he has changed.
Michelle is given the case and needs to help prove Andrew's innocents. Chet has told her about Andrew's womanizer ways and that makes her very standoffish with Andrew. However, after seeing the dash cam video of Chet abusing his power, and hitting Andrew without cause makes her rethink this decision.
Michelle lives next door to Chet the trusting police officer. Her house is always getting broken into, but, nothing ever seems to be missing. Who is breaking into her house? Kids? Who ever it is seems to have a key made, as her doors are always unlocked after she gets home from work.
Loved Loved the story!! This love story is between Michelle Harper and Andrew(Ace) Bogart. They first meet on Ace's garage where Michelle has to take her car for a broken heater. When she can't pay the bill with money she pays it with something else 😉... The story continues after 6 months have passed. Ace gets stopped by crooked deputy Chet Browntooth, where he gets charge with resisting arrest and preventing the checkpoint. Ace gets a lawyer assigned by the court and it's Michelle!!! The chemistry between them is off the charts when they see each other again. Their story is a rollercoaster!! Poor Michelle has a lot of insecurities and keeps doubting Ace intentions. This becomes a problem for them more than once. To make things worse, Michelle's house keeps getting break-ins. Then there's Chet..... He's Michelle's neighbor and always there to help her when the break-ins happen. But there's still no leads and no police help to find who is doing this. And Chet is getting really attentative with Michelle. Which makes Andrew very suspicious of his intentions and overprotective of Michelle. There's some scenes that made me cry and I felt Michelle's emotions. It was like I could feel how lost she felt😔. But not everything was sad...the sex was hot😜😜!!! I mean who doesn't want a sexy alpha mechanic fixing their broken heater?😍😉 Ms. Kira did an amazing job!!! I really enjoyed the book. 😃 I received an arc of this book for an honest review😃
Michelle is moving for a new job and a fresh start and gets car troubles. Ace is the mechanic Michelle takes her car to in her new town however she wasn't expecting the bill to be that high. Ace over hears Michelle asking if she can makes payments and comes back to ask if something is wrong. Ace has her go into his office with him and its like they can't keep their hands off of each other. The chemistry between these characters is extremely hot. They didn't expect to see each other again however it seems like life had other plans. Deputy Chet harasses Ace and even though Ace didn't do anything wrong he ends up in the need of a lawyer and to his surprise its his Michelle that walks out of the office to greet him. The attraction is still there. What Michelle didn't know was that Ace lives in the same area she does as well as her new neighbor is Deputy Chet. Things start happening to Michelle and even when she turns to the police for help she ends up with Chet. Ace can't shake the feeling that his might be missing something. He and Michelle grow closer as all this weird stuff continues. Until the unthinkable happens.
I loved this book it has everything you could want in a book. Characters with hot chemistry, drama unfolding and a story that'll keep you entertained throughout it all. If you haven't read anything by this author this book would be a great starting point. I would recommend this to any book lover
OMG!! AWESOME HOT READ!! I absolutely loved the story. Ms Blakely definitely brought us a great, suspenseful, hot, page turner of a book which literally kept me up all night till I finished it. Michelle's car broke down and Ace repaired it for her but she didn't expect the bill to be so high. There's no way she could pay it, therefore she asked Ace if he would accept a payment plan. Next thing you know, they were having hot sex on his desk and Michelle was gone. A few months later, Ace was driving home when he got pulled over by Chet, the police officer who provoked Ace which led him to punch Chet. A court appointed lawyer was assigned to Ace and to his surprise it was Michelle. The attraction was still here but Michelle was trying to fight it. There have been numerous break ins at Michelle home which was strange as nothing felt out of place and no evidence was found. Chet was the one who found her door open, so happens they are neighbors. Ace made sure Chet knows that Michelle is off limits. Ace's ex is trying to create problems between Michelle and him. Ace found out that Connie wasn't his real daughter. Will Ace and Michelle finally have a happy life which they deserve? Will they be able to find out who have been breaking into Michelle's home. I highly recommend you to one click to find out cause you will not be disappointed. I loved the story so much, I turned around and purchased it.
Michelle has some baggage in her past she just wants to put behind her. She just wants to do her job and pay off her student loans. She hopes to do that with her new job, new home, new town. She wasn't counting on Ace, the mechanic that fixed the heater in her car, who then threw out the bill when she couldn't pay it. Before she knew it, they were having sex in his office.
Andrew ("Ace") wasn't prepared for Michelle, and the way she made him feel. He didn't know what made him do it, but he threw out the bill for her car repair. She was so grateful, she started hugging him. And hugging him again. He had to get her out of his office before it was too late. And then she kissed his cheek, and that was it. And now he couldn't get her out of his mind.
Their road was rocky, to say the least. A lot of misunderstanding, jealousy, and insecurities played a huge part in that. There was also humor, compassion and passion. A few twists thrown in as well, and this was an all around awesome read! I was hard pressed to put it down. I just wanted to keep reading and reading, dying to know how it would all play out. If I didn't need sleep, I would have finished it in one day!
I Love Kira Blakely books, and this one is no exception. She hasn't written a book yet that I didn't love. I would recommend this book to anybody that enjoys a good romance and HEA.
I am voluntarily leaving this review. This is my honest opinion.
Michelle is moving to a new town and trying to begin her new life. As she's rolling in to town her car heater breaks. She ends up at Ace's garage, when he gets through with the repairs he gives the bill to his receptionist and heads for his office. Michelle is floored when she sees the bill is almost $900 and she can't afford it. Ace tells her to come to his office and tries to work out a payment plan for her. He quickly realizes that she can't really afford the repair at all, so he balls up the bill and tells her it's a welcome to town gift. Michelle is so excited she jumps up and hugs and kisses him. Sparks fly between them and they have s*x in his office. Six months later Michelle ends up being his public defender for some trumped up charges by a deputy that doesn't like him. This is the first time they've seen eachother since that day in his garage. They end up having s*x again and then Michelle notices her alarm at her house was triggered. She tries to forget Ace but he doesn't make it easy and over a period of time the are several break-ins and she is not getting any response from the police because apparently they are not receiving any alarm alerts. Will Michelle by able to let Ace in her life or will she stay closed off? And who is breaking into her house? Find out by reading this story today. Excellent book, great story and interesting characters.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Michelle Harper and Andrew “Ace” Bogart. When they first meet it is a wild explosion of hormones. Neither of them can forget the other but figure they will never see each other again. However things have a funny way of drawing people together when they least expect it. Michelle is the new lawyer in town and as the new public defender she gets the cases the courts choose for her. Ace has been known to be a hothead but since having his daughter he has tried to settle down. There is just one problem with that scenario for Ace and his name is Deputy Chet Browntooth. Chet and Ace have had problems for years and one night Chet takes it too far and falsely arrests Ace. Well his lawyer is the last person he ever thought he would see. Michelle can’t believe who her new client is. The one man she can’t seem to forget. They wonder can they get past all the issues they have in their past to have a real future or will it totally kill their present and possibly their future together?
This is a great story will a few major twists in it. I want to tell you so much more about this book but don’t want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
When Michele had her car fixed in the new town she moved to she couldn't afford the $900.00 to fix it so she and the mechanic had great sex in his office and even though she thought of him a lot she was keeping to herself and not getting involved with anyone. When her new case as an attorney came in she couldn't believe it was her mechanic who was just as surprised as she was, he introduced himself as Andrew. The fire that sizzled back then still was between them but Michelle is afraid but she really likes him but now he's her client so she is having doubts but she has to rush home because her alarm is activated. When she and Andrew get there the only person there is Chet the cop who arrested Andrew and is her next door neighbor but he claims the call came in so he was checking it out. Something is going on and Michele just wants to back to being alone so she isn't hurt or upset but Andrew likes her too much to just let her hide plus someone keeps tripping her alarm. Michele has been so traumatized by things in her life she can't see what is right in front of her and it may cause her to lose everything I requested this book for free from the author and I have chosen to review it
Ok, if you were a fan of Kira already, you will definitely love her work even more with this read! She made me fall in love with Michelle and Andrew so much. I really hope we get an extended epilogue sometime, because I can't get enough of them. Andrew will make you swoon and their chemistry was crazy hot! You have Michelle, who is a very sheltered, uptight, fresh out of law school lawyer, focused on her career trying to make it on her own. Then there's Andrew, the hot dirty mechanic, who just wants to run his shop and keep a drama free life. But a broke down car and an office quickie later, send both of their lives into a tailspin. Especially when six months later they meet again when Michelle is assigned to Andrew's case against a dirty cop, he'll bent on making Andrew's life hell. Even more now that he's got his eyes set on Michelle who's also his next door neighbor. Throttle is a must read. Kira wrote Michelle as the shy girl who keeps to herself, but shows you how she matures into a strong woman seeking her independence and overcome the her issues from her past. Not your typical HEA, which I loved. 1-click this standalone and get hooked from the start with this great steamy read.
A great read about a mechanic, Andrew, and the new lawyer in town, Michelle. When Michelle's car breaks down and can't pay her bill, Andrew throws away the bill and it gets steamy in his office. Months later she is defending him against a bad charge that an old nemesis charged him with. Once again they can't forget that day and soon are having steamy times in private and the one time they go out in public as a couple to a wedding, it goes badly. During this time apart Michelle has a few more break ins at her house and the next door neighbour is getting chummy with her. When his court date arrives they see each other again and once again they can't deny the attraction, but is it enough? A great read with steamy scenes and I enjoyed the fact that Andrew wasn't a man wh*** and was quite charming. I didn't like how he was with Lola (at the wedding) after the incident in the chapel and how he treated Michelle at the wedding, leaving her alone and not going after her but going back in with Lola when she left....lost a bit of respect for him there. Also that the book wasn't thrown at the intruder and no jail time, just a restraining order after what happened. Otherwise an enjoyable read that kept me turning the pages. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
