Candy Sawyer has decided to put her Strix obligations on hold in order to find herself – whatever that means. After years of being a dream-jumping white-witch, she hits the road with two friends seeking answers in the unknown. When she stumbles upon a small town in northern Arizona, she discovers something she wasn’t quite ready to deal with.
Sherwood ‘Wood’ Wilder is a broody, gorgeous, supernatural Pursuer who loves to grate Candy’s nerves. Some wouldn’t even call them friends – Candy, especially. So, when she runs into him while on a case, she doesn’t expect to have any sort of feelings for him other than aggravation.
Against her better judgment, Candy finds herself on a dangerous mission alongside Wood to unlock the secrets tormenting the town.
Their relationship becomes a thrilling game of cat and mouse, and soon, the lines they firmly put in place become blurred beyond recognition.
They’ve unknowingly jumped off a ledge. The question is, will their parachutes open before they hit the soil below?

Reviewer: Lindsey Rating: 4.5 stars Candy and Wilder takes the reader on a great adventure while they find themselves. This was a great book that I enjoyed all the way till the end. This roller coaster ride in adventure will keep the reader until the end and make the reader want more. If you love paranormal romance than this is a great book for you. Both main characters are very likable, and they don’t disappoint. The writing was great, the characters likable, and the plot great. I loved this story a lot and can’t wait to see what else Ms.Graham will do next. This book is most definitely a must read for those that love a paranormal romance story.
*Surviving Wilder is a paranormal romance coming November 9th, 2017. It has supernatural suspense and is full of heart, soul and love.
*This is a companion novel to ENCHANTING WILDER, but is a STANDALONE novel. You can read this WITHOUT reading the first book. Then again, you'll want to meet Declan Wilder, too, so maybe get on that. ;)
This is the second book in The Wild series and I'm hoping there will be more. The author did a good job of throwing in back story to book 1, so that you could read this without having read that one. However there are a lot of spoilers in here for book 1 and as it really is an amazing book you might want to read that one first.
Candy seemed like quite a flighty character in Book 1, but in this we see that she has always felt incomplete and not quite good enough. I really liked her, she is gutsy, determined and caring and we really see Candy grow into herself in this book. Wood is aloof and such an alpha male, but finding out he is the only mortal in his family has set him adrift in his world. It was so heart warming seeing how Candy provided the anchor he so desperately needed. The character building is excellent, with not only the MC's but many of the supporting characters feeling as though they are real. There is an intense and scorching chemistry between Wood and Candy, which they both foolishly battle against for quite a chunk of time. This leads to plenty of sparks flying, with some hot scenes and some fun scenes.
It was good to see both familiar characters (McKenna, Declan, Kai, Candy's parents and Sally) as well as meeting some new ones. I'm hoping Erin, Morgan and Elaine will all have their own books (hint, hint!) The pacing in the story is excellent, there is a LOT going off at all times with paranormal creatures galore. The author does a wonderful job giving us enough detail to understand all these unfamiliar characters, powers etc without there being information overload. So even when the action is moving along at a fairly fast pace, I never struggled to keep up with it.
There are three main things that stand out for me in this book as what makes it so good. As already mentioned there are the complex characters. Then there is the fact that you can feel the emotions of the hero and heroine. It wasn't simply that I was told what they thought or felt, it was conveyed in a way that made me think and feel it. Finally there is the amazing plot, with all the little sub-plots, hints and teasers pulled together into one fantastic story.
This book is a must for any lover of paranormal/urban fantasy books.
This is the sequel to one of my favorite paranormal romances! It can be read as a stand alone. I loved this book even more than its predecessor! Candy is so flawed and wonderful. Her insecurities speak to me in a way no other character has before. Candy's transformation throughout her journey is special to witness. Watching her learn to trust herself and gain confidence gives me hope. Her journey had me in tears by the end. Sherwood Wilder is the bad boy we all want to tame. He is sexy and dangerous and funny and we get to watch him fall in love! It's truly beautiful to see. The romance is intense and the paranormal aspects of the book kept me on the edge of my seat. Do yourselves a favor and and one click this baby NOW! It will take you on an incredible ride!
While Surviving Wilder can most definitely be read as a stand alone novel, it’s still part of a series and I would recommend you read Enchanting Wilder first just to understand the world and some of the character background and development. That is my personal opinion. You can most certainly read it as a stand alone, and it would hold up really well as one.
The thing I enjoyed most about Surviving Wilder was that while reading each chapter, the plot moved along quick enough to hold interest, but not too fast that it was hard to understand what was going on. There is a lot of world-building, character, and plot content involved since this is a paranormal read - so much so that I was very thankful none of it became too overwhelming. The dialogue was clear, and the background information given was concise and easy to understand.
I really loved seeing the growth of the characters, and even introduction to some new characters that I now love just as much. I really loved Megan, her purple hair, and her spunk; and also she shares my given name, which made me giggle everytime I read it on the page. While not fully the focus of the story, nor our voices in this book, all the secondary characters play a huge intrical part in wrapping up this story. They are each important in their own way, and I really hope to see more of them in future stories.
Candy and Sherwood seem to have found some common ground with each other and their pursuing relationship… and their feelings that just seemed crush like in book one have obviously deepened in the months between the books. Their relationship even grows more from the time the book begins, to when it ends. That epilogue is everything! This family makes me so happy!
We met many other creatures in this book, as well as learned A LOT more about the characters and creatures we’d already met in Enchanting Wilder. This book is set in a very small town in Arizona, also the author’s home state, so some of the lore talked about seems genuine and well placed in the novel. The author let her imagination run wild in this book and I dare say, it’s even better than the book it sequels.
I was provided an early copy to read for review. This in no way affects my feelings or opinions.
Have you read this series yet? No? Why not? I love this series, well the 1st book is the only one, but now we have Wood and Candy's story and I loved it! FYI - you do NOT have to read Enchanting Wilder (Book 1), but you really should. It is great!
Wood Wilder and Candy Sawyer have a bit of a complicated relationship, mainly they are attracted to each other but don't want to be. I love that! Candy is out trying to find herself and answer to some burning questions. She heads out on a road trip with her friends and they run into Wood. Wood can't help but give Candy a hard time. You can feel the atttraction between them despite their banter. When they have to work together and things get dangerous, suddenly the lines are blurred.
Cassie Graham writes a great story and even better characters. Surviving Wilder exceeded my expectations and has left me wanting more of the series, more of the characters. The book moves along at a nice pace and I found myself sucked right into the book from the 1st chapter.
This is a really fun book! It took me by surprise from the cover, but I enjoyed this paranormal romance a whole bunch! The characters are struggling with feeling emotions for each other and are trying not to get committed, yet they end up falling for one another. I really like the paranormal aspect to the story because it adds in some kick butt awesomeness! Graham knows how to make a book exciting and full of that good romance that will make your toes curl. Her writing is what really got me in from the first page and the plot is why I stayed!
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
This book was great if you love paranormal romance. So if you love PNR you will love the adventures of Wood and Candy. Also seeing more of Declan the other characters. Unfortunately I just can’t get into PNR. Cassie paints a great picture of characters. She keeps it very interesting, keeps you guessing what’s going to happen.
