About the author

Derek Prince (1915-2003), was an International Bible teacher and founder of Derek Prince Ministries International, wrote more than fifty books.
He was born in India of British parents. Educated as a scholar of Greek and Latin at Eton College and Cambridge University, England, he held a Fellowship in Ancient and Modern Philosophy at King’s College. He also studied Hebrew and Aramaic, at Cambridge University and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His daily radio broadcast, Derek Prince Legacy Radio, still reaches listeners around the world.

This was loaned to me by a Christian sister and I'm passing it on. I know of Derek Prince from his radio broadcasts so I knew his background already. And this book was clearly written by him.

It deals with covenant generally and then marriage between man and woman and then spiritual covenant between God and other Christians. As a single woman I was reminded of principles I can and plan to use. I definitely recommend to anyone whether single or married. Derek explains hard concepts very simply and builds you up.

Derek Prince heeft alleen maar nuttige, duidelijke, effectieve boeken. Ze zijn een zegen van God.

Als we de dood van Christus accepteren als onze dood, dan moeten we onszelf als dood beschouwen. Daarom zijn we niet langer vrij om voor ons zelf te leven.

Het huwelijk is een verbond. Ieders leven moet eindigen. Samen het nieuwe leven in. Het is geen samenwerking, maar een samensmelting. De vrouw moet een succesvolle man maken (succesvol = geestelijk succesvol, betrouwbaar en gerespecteerd). Een man moet een vrouw waarderen en roemen.
Kerntaken vrouw: ondersteunen en bemoedigen.
Kerntaken man: beschermen van en zorgen voor.
Kerntaken samen: Toewijding aan God en aan elkaar.

Voorwaarden van koinonia (gemeenschappelijk bezit) zijn
toewijding & levensstijl (wandelen in het Licht).
De essentie van relatie is altijd hetzelfde. Totale openheid en eerlijkheid tussen hen die in koinonia zijn. Niets mag verborgen, verkeerd voorgesteld of achtergehouden worden.

A great little book on the biblical foundation of marriage and why God is so concerned about it. Not an institution to be entered into lightly, marriage is not only a picture of God's unfailing love, but it is a life-long commitment of the highest and most sacred degree.

I recommend this book for couples who are engaged, married, struggling or considering divorce. Also a must for pastors, lay leaders and biblical counselors. Great study for singles groups, couples and newlyweds.

Awesome read

This book took me to another level of respect and reverence for my marriage. To see the emphasis that God places on it and the potential that a God centered marriage can have, truly stirs up in me great hope and expectation. Marriage is a covenant as our covenant with Jesus

This book explains in plain language how becoming one in marriage is like becoming one with Jesus. It teaches that in marriage as the wife learns to submit to the husband then she can submit totally to God, and the husband submits to The wife and learns submission to God. I love the part where marriage is explained to be a sacred covenant, a vow before God and should not be taken lightly.Our society doesn't look at marriage this way any more it's looks at it like you can get divorced if it don't work out but that's not what God intended.people should know they are with the person they are gonna be with the rest of their life before jumping I to marriage. Marriage takes working things out and being commuted to that.I would recommend this book to anyone whose planning on getting married both parties included.I would also recommend that it be taught in the Church to teens and adults whether married or not. A book so interesting you can't put it down. We read it in one day.
