Gravity #2

Falling From the Sky

Rate this book
She's the woman he doesn't remember. He's the man she can't forget.

Bad boy Hank “Hazardous” Lazarus used to have everything: a gorgeous girlfriend, a career as a freestyle snowboarder and a spot on the US Olympic team. Nine months ago, after a bad crash in the half pipe, he woke up in the hospital, unable to move his legs. Now he’s landed there again, but gravity is not the culprit. With his family pressuring him to try a groundbreaking treatment, Hank self-medicates with too much tequila instead.

Doctor Callie Anders has the courage to restart a patient’s heart with a thousand volts of electricity, yet she’s afraid to risk her own. So she doesn’t confess to her newest patient they they met just before the accident, an encounter that he doesn’t remember. Even as their friendship develops, she won’t admit that she regrets turning down his dinner invitation, or that her heart stutters every time those inked shoulders roll through the door of the therapy department.

With another Vermont winter coming again, Hank needs a hand out from under the avalanche of his disappointments. If only Callie were brave enough to take the job.

This book is a standalone novel, no cliffhangers, no prior experience necessary.

* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-A 2015 Review
I appreciate the skill and depth of Sarina Bowen's writing. She never does anything halfway. I discovered her last year when we talked about books on hockey. I read The Year We Fell Down (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...) and have been a huge fan ever since. She tackles serious life-changing events and brings them to us clearly with heart, care, and reality. This book was no different.

This time the setting and sport is Elite Snowboarding, Olympic level. We are on the slopes getting ready to watch Bad Boy Hank “Hazardous” Lazarus do a run on his board. He is a past Silver medalist and an Olympic Gold contender for the upcoming Games. His friends are there to root him on. He is talking trash and arranging the meet up after his run when he is introduced briefly with Callie Anders. He takes her in at a glance while shaking her hand and continues his conversation with his friends. Just an everyday occurrence...nothing to dwell on. He takes the lip of the pipe and as these things happen...an Ariel he had done hundreds of times perfectly without any hitches goes wrong...very wrong.

As Callie watched this tragedy take place, her training kicked in and alerted the hospital where she practiced to get ready in the ER for Hank. She knew this fall was bad and timing was critical. This was her expertise... this was where she lived... making sure those in need were cared for properly. Here, she was the expert.

Hank is brought in and it takes days for him to come to a place of reality. As he wakes, he sees Callie... but doesn't know why he is familiar with her face. He floats in and out but finally starts to get a clear idea of what exactly happened. He is just trying to come to terms with it all and it is a lot. To add additional pressure, his well-meaning parents are using every means possible to have the top experts in spinal cord injuries involved. Because the Lazarus family isn't just concerned parents; they are the major donors of the hospital and town. They have the wealth to move mountains and they are determined to find out how to use it to make Hank's legs move again.

Callie is in Hank's room talking with him and overseeing his chart when the parents start up again with the specialists. They are not pleased with the non-answer answers. Callie sees the discomfort it is causing Hank and steps in... she explains how nothing can be answered as to what will happen with Hank's legs for some time due to swelling, etc. She politely reads them the riot act and is saying back off. Her treatment of the situation causes Hank to have one moment of normalcy in a really messed-up time.

Hank goes through rehab and is in PT but his head is in a very dark place; he is drinking way too much...cannot see any use in who he is now and ends up having alcohol poisoning. He lands back in the hospital and Callie is called in to sign off and release him. Callie sees the damage his behavior has done and she is very straight forward with him....she doesn't talk down to him or make him feel less than. She makes sure she stands back so he doesn't have to look up to her, putting Hank in an uncomfortable neck position. She treats him as a normal man and Hank so appreciates it. It jogs his memory of her being in his hospital room setting his parents straight. He shares with her the frustration he is having with them... as they want him to try some untested therapy and he doesn't want to. They talk a bit more and she finally releases him.

What doesn't happen is the thoughts in each of these people's minds... both are attracted to each other...both have felt the buzz... yet both leave it alone.

Callie leaves things alone a lot lately. She has to leave alone her hurt inflicted by one of the doctors where she works. They were a couple and she thought things were fine...only to discover him banging some nursing student in Exam room A. Now she leaves them alone as they flaunt their relationship all over the hospital. She leaves alone the dread of her student loans and how she needs to pay for them. She leaves alone her feelings of missing her friends who have moved away. So with all she is leaving alone...she is alone and thinking of moving to some other place...maybe California to start over.

What happens next is the game-changer. Callie is called into the Director's office and offered...sort of told for the good of the Hospital, she has been appointed the head of a grant for physical therapy using electrodes for spinal cord candidates. This grant money is coming from Hank's parents and it will boost the profile of the Hospital. The positives are Callie will not have to interact with the douchey ex and many veterans in the area would be able to be part of this program. Callie knows this must be due to Hank and she is right; he asked specifically for her to head up the program. She can't turn it down...she doesn't want to...she will just have to be careful around Hank.

We go on a journey with these two characters. Both have insecurities justified or not. Both have to handle the emotional pitfalls of laying it all out there in order to be open to love. Their past histories of being burned must be put aside and they both need to make the jump without a safety net.

The relationship between Callie and Hank felt real; ups and downs, insecurities and concern about why ... why did she love him...why would he care for her...all of these thing regular people worry about...and that was the key...after it was all said and done, Hank was a person, not a chair...and needed others and himself to see it that way.

What I like the most about Ms. Bowen's writing is she doesn't sugarcoat anything... she just tells it like it is and by doing so, the reader can relate as if it is happening to a friend or even themselves. Life is hard; there are no guarantees. Accidents happen every single day causing damage to limbs and minds. It is the way the person handles what comes next. With the right information, guidance, and willingness to seek it... good things can come out of bad. Sometimes is it hard to hold onto those concepts....Ms. Bowen shows us the way.

Miss Bowen certainly loves her sport romance trope. Falling From the Sky is no exception. I want to like more for this book. But at the end I feel luke warm.

I think the story/ plot is rushed. There are many tender/ dramatic moment can be added to the story to enhance the swooning. The chemistry between the characters are OK. I wish for more.

Overall this is OK read to start my weekend.

Bowen loves her sports themed romances and snowboarding is the name of the game here.

Hank “Hazardous” Lazarus was on the fast-track to Olympic glory when a tragic accident on the slopes ended with him hospitalised and unable to move his legs. For a year, Hank worked tirelessly with his doctors and PT’s in an attempt to regain mobility in his legs, but with time came the conclusion that, although stronger and showing signs of overall improvement, Hank would probably never walk again. For a man used to living the high-life, both on and off the slopes, this realisation is a shocking blow for Hank, and one that sends him into a bit of a negative funk which seems to only be improved by the presence of one beautiful and sweet doctor.

Doctor Callie Anders (Willow’s friend from book one) has been on the periphery of Hank’s life since his accident, always providing an encouraging word and lifting his spirits simply through proximity. When a new trial study throws the two into direct contact on the regular, Callie fights her attraction to Hank as best as she can, fearing all sorts of repercussions relating to their complicated doctor-patient relationship. But keeping it professional with the sexy and audacious man proves increasingly difficult for Callie, and eventually she reaches a point where she must decide whether the risk will ultimately be worth the reward.

I liked Callie and Hank very much. Watching them struggle with their feelings for one another, while also dealing with their separate and complicated personal issues, was quite an emotional experience, but one which had a rewarding and satisfying conclusion.

I also enjoyed the return appearances of Willow and Dane from Coming In From the Cold, and I liked the small glimpses we got of the next (and final) book’s MCs, in the form of Hank’s sister and his long-time bestie. I’m definitely intrigued to see how that particular relationship unfolds.

Overall, not a personal favourite of Bowen’s but certainly a lovely romantic romp nonetheless.

What. A. Book! Definitely pick this one up, guys.

After reading two of Sarina Bowen's books in less than a week, I've learned that she is an author I can absolutely count on, to provide interesting, different, rich and fulfilling stories. After reading the first book in the Gravity series, Coming in From the Cold, I immediately opened this one up. Like the first book, I was immediately pulled into the world of an elite athlete facing horrible circumstances, and the woman who lifts him up, and loves him all the way. Both books can absolutely be read as standalones, but I will say that if you loved the first book, this one opens six months later. You won't want to miss that!

So Falling From the Sky opens with a tragedy. Dane's friend, Hank "Hazardous" Lazarus breaks his back competing. Callie, Willow's best friend, is a doctor at the hospital he's treated at, and has an immediate attachment to her friends' friend. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that Hank is paralyzed from the waist down. To see such a vibrant, athletic man have his world completely changed was difficult, but as a physician, Callie sees more. The potential he has to lead a wonderful, fulfilling life. When Hank's family funds a study that could possibly help him, as well as others, Callie is chosen by Hank to head the program. He doesn't remember meeting her immediately before the accident, but he trusts her. And he's attracted to her, as well. I know, you're surprised, right?

I didn't even discuss Callie in my review of Coming in From the Cold, because I knew I'd have so much to say in this review. She was a kickass best friend, a great doctor and a wonderful person in that book. She's even better here. I knew I would enjoy her in a leading role. She's honest and bold and I loved her even more once I began her story. Callie and Hank were such opposites before the accident. She's cautious and pragmatic; he thrives on danger and adrenaline. She's led a quiet life and was dumped by her boyfriend for being boring; he's led a life of partying and women, but was also dumped by his athlete/model girlfriend after his accident. Though it doesn't appear this way initially, Hank and Callie are a perfect fit.

There are two other little areas I need to shower praise on. First, I assumed what Callie assumed: that if Hank hadn't been paralyzed, he would never give her a second glance, would still be living the rock star lifestyle, and if given a choice, he'd change it in a heartbeat. But our sweet, badass Hank is definitely more than what we assume of him from the start, and I have to say a more winning leading man than Hank is hard to name. Hank may wish he had his legs to use, but also realizes that maybe he's ended up right where he's meant to be. Though that does take time. And second, I need to commend Sarina Bowen on her dedication to realism and the finer details in the life of a paraplegic. From Hank's injury, to his home and dealing with wheelchair accessibility, therapy, the movements from wheelchair to stool to bed to car, etc, the functional issues, and equipment and even sex. Hank is written just like any other book man, in that he has issues and desires and questions about himself and love. And that's both awesome and important. But we're never made to forget that he is paralyzed, to have that diminished to make him more "swoonworthy". Hank can't walk and he is still a sexy, fine-ass man and that's fucking awesome.

As you can see, I loved Falling From the Sky. I'm always looking for different, inspiring, more in my books and Sarina Bowen delivers every time. I will read ANYTHING she writes.

But the memory of Hank Lazarus flipping effortlessly against the blue sky was burned in her brain. And in spite of the danger of it all, so cruelly proven by the sleeping figure in the bed, she didn't have to ask why he'd choose to take such a risk. She'd seen the power and the beauty of it with her own two eyes.

There had never been a more perfect moment in his life. All his frustrations fell away, replaced by a potent cocktail of affection and triumph. Every part of him--even the scars he carried on his body and in his heart--came alive for this moment. All his prior suffering was here with him, too, every bit of it feeding and stoking today's pleasure. Until now, he hadn't understood that one made the other so much sweeter.

He let out a big breath. "A lot of my old friends look at me, and I can just see the wheels turning. They're making the comparison. Doesn't matter what we're talking about--the Patriots, the weather. They're thinking, that poor slob. Look at him now. You never look at me that way, and I thought it was because you didn't have a reference point. I thought you never saw the real me."
Callie popped up so that she could look down into his eyes. "No, I've got the real Hazardous." She cupped his chin with one hand. "He's right here."

"Sometimes..." Callie said, her face grave."...Sometimes I dig my own ruts. I carve them nice and deep, and then I get stuck inside them."
Reaching for her hand, Hank yanked off one of the gloves that Stella had lent her. "I'll haul you out," he said. Then brought her palm up to his lips, kissing her.
When he looked up again, her eyes were brimming. "Would you?" Callie whispered. "I'd like that."
"Anytime, baby," Hank said, hitching closer so her could hug her. "Anytime."

This book was boring, I mean seriously booorrring, like I would stop every few pages just to stare at the ceiling because that was infinitely more interesting that what was going on in these pages. The heroine, Callie, literally had zero personality...like nothing. I could NOT understand what the hero, Hank, saw in her at all. Course he was so vanilla and bland, that perhaps they were the perfect couple. Even the sexy was sleep inducing. I couldn't even work up the energy to hate either of them when they were acting stupid...I just didn't care....

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

I loved this. I really did. I have a soft spot for disabled characters and Sarina does such a wonderful job writing them. When I read The Year We Feel Down, it was the first time I ever read a book where the main character had a SCI. I was blown away by her attention to detail when describing how different everyday activities are so vastly different to someone with a SCI.

I was not expecting her to go there again, but was delighted to see the different perspective with the survivor being the hero! Ugh. If I had the ability to write, I would want to write a book like this. A book about a survivor who met their mate at their darkest time and helped lift them up. A book about good people doing the right thing. A book full of risk and reward. But sadly, I'm not a writer and no where near the level that Sarina is, but thank you Lord for introducing me to her because she feeds my soul.

05/26/2015 --

I tried another series by Sarina Bowen. This is the second in the series, but it sounded good and fit my mood of the moment.

It was good, but not quite what "The Ivy Years" series has been for me so far. Not going to spend much time on the review .. but will say, it was good. Not amazing or exceptional -- which has been my experience with this author so far, but good.

The first scene in this book grabs you. You want to know this Hank person. You want to know what's behind his eyes and why he appears to be such an arrogant prick. You don't want him to experience what he eventually does to humble him. You'd not want your worst enemy to experience what this guy goes through.

I just thought the author played it a bit safe. We find in her later books she doesn't shy away from playing on a readers emotions. Here, she seems to keep it shallow. Or I thought so. Maybe it was just me. This book had so much potential and I think it got about 75% of the way there.

Happy Reading!!

While better than the first one, which wasn't hard since that one was awful, it still didn't have the magic I expect from Bowen. I don't think I'll be reading the thrid book either. This series just isn't for me, I guess...

This is the romance between Hank “Hazardous” and Callie. Hank is a professional snowboard who got in a really back accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Callie is one of the doctors in the hospital that he goes to and ends up being in charge of the physical therapy project Hank is a part of. Despite her being his doctor, they cannot help the forbidden attraction between them.

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this one! I say I am surprised because I was not that big of a fan of the first book in the series. But you can totally read this one by itself if you wish! As someone who used to be a physical therapy patient, I really enjoyed that part of the story. I thought that it was done really well! I loved how these two fell for each other, and how Hank finally became the man he was always meant to be. A solid read for me! :)

5 Hazardous Stars

I am so into this series. This is the second book (can be read as a standalone but the first book was awesome, so if you haven't read it I would highly recommend it) and focuses on Hank 'Hazardous' Lazarus - this has to be one of the best hero names ever- and Dr Callie Anders. Hank is a friend of Dane from the first book and Callie was the fabulous best friend of Willow from the same novel.

In the previous story, Callie was portrayed as loyal, vivacious and sweet and this continued here but it was tempered with showing her as being quite cautious. It felt like she was more reserved in her own book. Hank is in a dark place following his devastating injury sustained whilst snow boarding. It's heart breaking to see him struggle with all the changes happening in his life but fascinating to watch him fall in love with Callie. You see glimpses of the old Hazardous but the new Hazardous is just....wow. He is the polar opposite of Callie but they blend so well together. Hank is adventurous, a little bit reckless even. He is brave, fun and the man was renowned for his hard partying apres ski(boarding). He is loyal to those he loves and the same can be said of Callie but her character is more cautious and measured. Hank helps her to loosen up and when she allows herself to she can be pretty sassy.

The supporting characters are intriguing - Bear and Stella are up next. Sarina Bowen is one of the best authors at depicting scenes and at weaving all the subtle dynamics between characters through the pages of her books.

This is a lovely book. Sexy, sweet and thought provoking too.

HEA? Yes. The ending to this book made me smile - beaming big smile.
Cheating? No

My musical muse for this book is:

**Falling from the Sky generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

5 "Bright Pink Hat" Stars

Sarina Bowen writes about tough circumstances in her characters lives, part melancholy but most of all hopeful. She writes with clarity and grace, a solid foundation for her plots, executed beautifully in Falling from the Sky. This is an excellent read, a love rooted in simplicity for the heroine, an instinctual feeling. The hero becomes a man who makes her feel alive as rises from the darkest of his own depths.

This story, again, was one of hope of overcoming the greatest trials of your life to be whole and happy. Callie Anders floats through her admirable life. The calculated choices she's made sheltered her from the adrenaline in life. Hank Lazarus played with adrenaline to extreme eventually coming find the simplicity of it too. Their story is a slow burn of fun, passion, and some drama.

Each Sarina Bowen title I read, I end the book with a smile. This epilogue made that smile wide. The story of Callie and Hank comes to a sweet, satisfying end that by then end I was sad they were gone but so happy with their ending. There's something very telling from an author who can give you slow & sweet and completely entranced her stories Sarina Bowen is one of those authors.

We met Hank 'Hazardous' Lazarus and Dr Callie Anders in the first book of this series. Hank is a fellow snowboarder of Dane’s and Callie is Willow’s best friend.

After a horrible accident we follow Hank and his struggles to try and navigate his new life. It is an emotional ride with heartbreaking parts but there was humor thrown in to keep it from being too sad.

I liked Callie’s character she seems sweet, intelligent, loyal but I didn’t remember her being tentative and careful in the first book.

Both of these characters had their own personal issues to navigate through so it made them coming together in a relationship even more endearing.

This was not really a great read for me. I didn't really feel the love.

I didn't like Hank, Callie was all over the place and the relationship felt constructed and bloodless to me.

Kudos that the author left Hank with his handicap, but somehow this didn't help. Especially after the first impression the reader got of Hank.

I think I will abandon the series at this point.

This sequel was better than the first book, but I was not a fan of either of these two narrators.

BASIC FACTS:
Pages:268
My rating:4
Genre: na romance, sport romance
Themes: snowboarding, accident
Protagonist Ages: I thin they are in their late twenties

This book is about Callie, whom we met in the first Book of the Gravity Series as Willows best friend. Willow and Dane have some short appearances. You don’t need to read the first book of the Gravity series to understand book 2. But some characters besides Willow and Dane will make an appearance in book 2.
Sarina Bowen is really talented in writing romance. I first read her Ivy Years series and loved the first book best. Now I started reading her Gravity series and love it too. I like that the second book is completely different than the first one. And I can’t write so much because you have to go in there blind. But if you like Sarina Bowens other book read the Gravity Series.

Even though Falling From The Sky is the second book in the Gravity Series by Sarina Bowen, it is the first one that I read when I started the series in print a few years ago. It’s so great to be able to listen to some of my favorite books on audio as they’re being produced. I feel like I’ve crossed my fingers and made wishes for an audio Gravity Series for years and now I’m like a kid at Christmas.

We meet Callie in the first book as Willow’s best friend. It’s awesome to listen to her story as she goes from the brokenhearted physician taking care of recently-injured pro-athlete Hank Lazarus — to the woman in love with him. Callie is one of my favorite characters created by Sarina Bowen. I love that she wants to do the right thing, but she also wants to listen to her heart and be honest in admitting that sometimes the “right” thing is really hard and maybe even impossible. Listening to the story as Callie wrestled with her mind and heart was so great. It added more depth to the story and to Callie’s character.

When we meet Hank, he is an injured athlete, grieving the loss of so many parts of his life, including romance. Hank’s story is so eye-opening to me every time that I read it. I feel like I learn a little something, without ever losing out on the fun of the romance. There is such good perspective on living with Hank’s particular injury and the aftermath that I just do not have any experience with, and I love the glimpse into his world. Hank has so much heart and humor and because of this, my own heart felt full when I listened to his story. Being able to hear his thoughts and words on this audiobook made his character even more full and alive.

I love the way Sarina Bowen is always able to write interesting life issues into each of her characters’ stories. She does this so gently with Hank that his issues are seamless within his romance with Callie, which is just awesome. In the story, Callie helps Hank discover that he can still function in so many parts of his life that he thought he lost while she works on his long-term rehab and physical therapy team. SURE they fall in love and SURE this is an ethics issue, but this only serves to make the story that much more interesting. Falling From The Sky is on my rereads shelf and definitely worthy of relistens and rereads in the future.

Audiobook Notes:
Tanya Eby and Aiden Snow are EXACTLY the voices I imagined for Callie and Hank. Exactly. I almost squealed when I first heard each of them read their parts because I felt like they matched the Callie and Hank that I had created in my head to go along with this book. Perfect casting makes an audiobook amazing.

I think that Aiden Snow was a new-to-me narrator with this audiobook. I especially loved the way he read Hank’s broad range of moods so well, because Hank experienced an understandable variety of feelings throughout this story. Hank flipped back and forth between feeling sexy and confident, and then feeling vulnerable over his injury or ways that his life has changed, and then he would repeat these mood shifts as his recovery and the story progressed. Aiden Snow never missed a beat with this and I thought he matched Hank’s tone and attitude throughout really well.

I was excited to see Tanya Eby narrating Callie’s POV. I know I can always count on her for great listens because I’ve listened to so many of her audiobooks in the past, including a several Susan Mallery titles.

This was a fantastic audiobook. I’ve never hesitated to buy an audiobook with Tanya Eby voicing the characters, and now I can add Aiden Snow to that list of one-click/no-hesitation narrators as well. I can’t even begin to tell everybody how excited I have been to listen to these Gravity Series books on audio, and I’m so eager for the third book (Shooting For The Stars) to be released soon. (I’ve been searching online every day to see if it is released yet because I am apparently very impatient.)

Now that the giveaway is over, here is my full review, posted also on my blog - Ellie Reads Fiction

Sarina Bowen’s Ivy Years series was one of the nicest surprises in my reading last year. I loved her New Adult romances and was excited to try her adult romance series Gravity, as well. Furthermore I have a soft spot for sports romance and what better time to read about a snowboarder falling in love than during one of the coldest weeks of the year. It was a nice contemporary romance and I enjoyed it a lot but not as much as Ms Bowen’s college hockey books.

I liked Hank and his journey from a superstar snowboarder to a person bound on wheelchair. His struggles to come to terms with happened to him and to move on and build a new life for himself were interesting to read.

The heroine, Callie, who is a doctor, was shy, focused on her work and really missing have someone in her life. Her attraction to Hank was pretty clear and even after his injure she saw him as desirable, someone she wanted to be. She acted somewhat childish and immature which I found annoying.

I felt the story lacked some depth, it dealt with serious issues (disability, professional ethics, etc.) but I wished we were given more insight into them instead of focusing mostly on Hank's attempts to get together with Callie and her fears and distrust.

The romance was slowgoing and felt real and intimate. There was some quietness and bit of predictablity to it but overall, it felt me feeling happy for the couple.

The story had an easy flow to it, nice and pleasant but nothing really stood out. The conflict wasn't very strong and overall things were rather tame. I wanted more tension, a bit more raw emotion. I'd have loved to see Hank at his darkest/lowest moments after the injury and the way he dealt with the irrevocable changes in his life.

Still, it's a nice, uplifting story without being too sweet or too gritty, keeping a middle ground. I can recommend it to fans of sport romances. I'm curious about the other characters and plan on continuing with this series.

I am just loving this series and author!  Hank "Hazardous" Lazarus is a hot snowboarder and friend of Dane from Book #1.

He just had the chance to meet Callie (Willow's friend and a doctor) before competing.  Then he crashes during the snowboarding competition.....aw man....my heart was on the floor......ugh!  He forgets even meeting Callie (this comes into play later for Callie's feelings).  He is rushed to the hospital and here begins the story of his recovery and reawakening!  And wouldn't you know it, Callie is there to help him.

They started as friends, which I loved........Callie becomes involved in a special therapy training program at the insistence of Hank's parents.  Hank is spiraling, but Callie is one strong woman!

I LOVED THIS BOOK, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!!  I love the broken ones who need us to help them through the tough and trying times, and Callie was that rock for Hank!  Another great thing, his friend, Bear.  He would do anything for him and did in fact do anything for him....he would not let Hank sulk and sit around and I loved that friendship!  Now, how would Hank feel about Bear and his sister Stella possibly hooking up, whom have been friends since childhood???  Well, you can find out when you read the next book, Shooting from the Sky!

This series is unlike any other I've read......I loved Dane's story and I loved Hank's story....now on to Stella's story.  That's right, Stella is a badass snowboarder and I'm expecting it to rock!

omg. i love hank!

I LOVED the Ivy Years series by this author, so of course I want to read everything else by Sarina Bowen.

Gravity book 1 was good. But this book, it grabbed my attention and sucked me in.

Hank is a sexy snowboarder competing in the Olympics. He's a risk taker. And he's a bit of a man-whore.

Callie meets Hank long enough to discern that he is sex on a snowboard and out of her league. And watch him fall.

Watching (reading) this masculine, athletic man deal with this life changing accident was so emotional.

In The Year We Fell Down, the heroine was in a wheelchair. I was afraid this would be redundant to read about Hank coping with a wheelchair. But it was so different. There was NO redundancy at all.

This was an amazing story. I loved:
~ Watching Hank grow as a person
~ The connection between Callie and Hank
~ Great CHEMISTRY!!
~ Catching up with Dane and Willow.
~ Dual POV - my favorite way to read a story.

I CAN'T wait for the next one!!!!

Highly recommend.
