She’s talented, and she’s got her sights set on the Red Scarlet, too.
As if dealing with Adam’s gorgeous ex isn’t enough, Jess nearly blows their cover with a single misstep. She still has a lot to learn when it comes to being a thief…and, apparently, a girlfriend. Things go from bad to worse when Celeste turns up dead. When Adam orders Jess off the case, she’s determined to stick around…even if their partnership—and relationship—has never been stormier.
Adam’s never fully trusted a partner before, never mind tried to solve a heist-related murder with the woman he loves. Chemistry isn’t the issue for Adam and Jess. But they’ll need to figure out how to transfer it from romance to business if they want to make it out of wine country alive.
There are only three things Michelle Dayton loves more than sexy and suspenseful novels: her family, the city of Chicago, and Mr. Darcy. Michelle dreams of a year of world travel – as long as the trip would include weeks and weeks of beach time. As a bourbon lover and unabashed wine snob, Michelle thinks heaven is discussing a good book over an adult beverage.
This is the second book in this series and another fast read. Jess and Adam teamed up in book 1 (romantically and professionaly) and Adam has been teaching Jess the ropes as thief. Their first assignment doesn't go as expected after they run into Adam's ex Celeste.
I really liked book 1 where they met and Jess was out for revenge after being wronged. I still do like this couple, but it did not pull me in as the first book did. They are however great partners in crime and love and I look forward to the next!
I was gifted this novella in exchange for a review from Netgalley
Jess and Adam are partners in crime. Jess has been converted to being a jewel thief after previously working as an IT. They are on a big job to steal a scarlet necklace and things take a darker turn. This one was such a fun story, I really enjoyed the characters and their relationship with eachother. I did have a few issues with the plot line and the story. The story wasn't the most original which doesn't bother me, what lowered my enjoyment was that none of it felt fully flushed out. I wanted more from the romance specifically I would have liked to have seen more aspects of their relationship flushed out. I still really enjoyed the writing in this one. I would love to read more by her in the future.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
