Old Acquaintance
New Year's Eve, 1971, and Quentin Collins is celebrating in the Blue Whale. But something is coming for him... something he first met in a Welsh village in 1912. Will the people of Collinsport survive to see 1972?

Devil's Rock
Barnabas Collins and Willie Loomis are beginning a journey, a journey that they hope will lead them to their old friend, Julia Hoffman. But on this night, they are about to discover that Collinsport isn;t the only town in Maine to have a dark, terrible secret.

Cobwebs
Something is very wrong at Windcliff Sanitarium. Sebastian Shaw wakes from a nightmare, alone. There are no doctors...no nurses... just a tiny little spider weaving its web on his wall. And outside, in the hospital corridors, the Burned Man is calling for him again.

I didn't enjoy this collection as much as I liked the others.

"The Reflected Man" by Alan Ronald, performed by Lisa Richards. Sabrina Jennings has lost everything, she works as a waitress in New York and exists from day to day mourning the loss of her husband Chris. Set in 1973, this takes place between "Beneath the Veil" and "The Lucifer Gambit," this was perhaps one the better stories in the set, and basically just gives some weird closure to the Sabrina-Chris Jennings story, but it was... just weird, not horror. While this sits in second place in my ranking the four stories in this volume, that isn't saying much.

"Old Acquaintance" by Matthew Waterhouse (who played Adric in Doctor Who), performed by David Selby. The Mari Lwyd has come back for Quentin….. and while I love David Selby's performances in general, the sing-song rhyming in a high pitched voice made for painful listening. I had no idea what was going on in this story. Unfortunately I was in the car when listening to it, so I couldn't Google the Mari Lwyd which would have given me some much needed context. I may have to listen to it again now that I know what is going on. I did not enjoy this story at all. I disliked it so much that it knocks down the rating on this one. Anyway, this takes place in 1971, just after "The Ghost Whisperer."

"Devil's Rock" by Kate Webster, peformed by Andrew Collins. I do like Barnabas Collins and Willie stories. Set in 1983, Barnabas Collins and his servant Willie Loomis are on a voyage to Jaipur to meet up with Dr Julia Hoffman. They are side-tracked by encountering a body on the shore, and find themselves in mortal peril. This was an enjoyable story, and the best story in the collection.

"Cobwebs" by Aaron Lamont and performed by Christopher Pennock. Set in 1973, just after "Dreaming of the Water," Sebastian Shaw is an inmate at Windcliff Sanitarium. But he is alone, no Doctors, no Nurses just his own room and a Spider spinning away in the corner.  As much as I like Christopher Pennock as Sebastian Shaw, I do not enjoy the ravings of lunatics. This story was hard to follow and difficult to listen to or care. This story was another reason why I rated this set lower than the other sets in this series.

I definitely would only recommend fans of the show listen to these. Casual listeners would be at a loss. These stories rely on the good will of the listeners, trusting they already like the characters from the show, as they make no attempt to set up these characters, introduce them, or even try to establish why the listener should even care about them. If you know their storylines already, this works, but if you don't... I just can't imagine a newcomer to Dark Shadows enjoying these at all.
