In defeating Eric Dane, Rebecca believed that the war would be over. She couldn’t have been more wrong. Now Rebecca faces a new enemy, one far more dangerous than Eric ever was. A faceless adversary, lurking in the shadows and pulling all the strings.

With her father missing and the man she loves believed dead, Rebecca has to look inside herself and find the will to go on, to fight another day. She begins to explore her relationship with Reed, until a shocking discovery threatens to destroy her strongest alliance.

With her Legion growing ever stronger, Rebecca travels to new frontiers and finds allies in the most unlikely group of heroes. But when she discovers a NUSA convoy let loose in the Rebeldom hunting her down, Rebecca has to make the ultimate sacrifice, in order to save the people that she loves.

The Legion is the gripping sequel to The Legacy, with more twists and turns than ever before, and an ending that cries out for the final chapter.

The Legion by Melissa Delport is the exciting sequel to The Legend, a dystopian trilogy that's got all the usual destruction and violence one expects from a dystopian novel, but adds in just enough sexy-times to make it different and somewhat addictive. There's a lot of action, drama, and various entertaining factors that comes into play in The Legion, which will keep you on the edge of your seat. So let's begin, shall we?Booze Sanza Stark

Now that President Eric Dane's dead (is he? Really?), things were supposed to get better for the people in the New United States of America (NUSA), but as it turns out, Eric wasn't the guy calling the shots ... best of all is that he told Rebecca exactly that, before she decided she'd rather be a widow than listen to the guy who'd supposedly killed her baby-daddy. Unfortunately for her, four months later, things are even worse. There are more super-soldiers guarding the fences, a new president, and Rebecca's dad is missing. She's stuck in Las Vegas, the main city of the Rebeldom, and trying her hand at being a mother, while mourning the loss of Aiden.

Sort out your priorities

Enter Reed McCoy, Rebecca's equal in every way. He's got the Power of Three, and the poor guy's been pining for her for longer than she's even known of his existence. Sadly, poor Reed (no seriously, poor Reed), first had to watch her suck up to Eric for the sake of the Rebeldom, then he had to watch her mourn Aiden, all while he played the crutch and second-in-command, and all-around Southern gentleman. Finally, when she gets her head straight and decides that The Legion should blow up NUSA's super-soldier assembly line, Reed gets a chance to visit Rebecca's muffin shop. Don't get excited just yet though. Yes, Reed McCoy gets some prime ex-First Lady ass, but Melissa Delport decided to make the guy work for it, because guess what? Yep, you called it ... Aiden returns.

LOL

Don't let the love-triangle stuff deter you from getting your hands on this book though. The action scenes are beautifully written and the imagery of the book is quite loud (in a good way, mind you), but even the love-triangle theme is kind of exciting. But we also learn who's this mysterious evil mastermind behind the conception of NUSA, but it's also the most unlikely person in the book. I mean, neither Reed nor Rebecca saw it coming.

wash-betrayal

This is what you can expect out of The Legion by Melissa Delport:

You're about to get your ass kicked

AND

You'll be whistling zipp

AND

come at me bro

I just want to ask Melissa Delport one question in regards to The Legion:

why are you making us feel these things

Ladies and gentlemen, The Legion is a roller-coaster ride that'll keep you wanting more. I can't wait for the last book in the trilogy, and I'm hoping that it'll be published early in 2015 instead of later, because let's face it, I won't be able to sleep soundly until I find out what happens next with Rebecca, Reed, Aiden (and I'm still holding my fingers crossed that Eric isn't really dead).

In the end, The Legion basically only comes down to one thing (and I'm not even kidding here):

This is a pretty good series, but the problem is that the books end right in the middle of a good part, so you are left with wanting more. That is fine, unless you don't have access to the next book in the series.

Hard to put down is putting it mildly. These do not feel like characters in a book, they feel like people you cannot abandon for a moment without obsessing about what will happen to them next.

-----
Highly recommend the entire series. Make sure you have all 3 in reach when you start!

The Legion, my fifth read/listen from author Melissa Delport (Lissa Del) & the second book in a series that is absolutely excellent! There's something about a story with characters trying to survive in a cataclysmic world that's moved on. I don't restrict my reading to any particular genre. Instead, I'm a sucker for anything with memorable characters & a story that keeps me on the edge of my seat until the end. Narrator Lynn Devereux’s talented narration added greatly to the book’s enjoyment. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I have to admit there were times I sped up the book because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Well-written romantic/suspense, with well-developed characters. I’ll be reading more from this author & look forward to the conclusion of the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Four months later sexy Bex is in a funk about everything that's happened and that they have not yet been able to locate her father and needs a swift kick where the sun doesn't shine for her to dig herself out of it.

Deciding that they needed to stop the enemy from making more super-soldiers and a plan was swiftly formulated. The first part of the plan goes swimmingly but things go sideways not long after and they have to make and discard new plans as they go.

What ensues after that is a desperate race against time across a post-apocalyptic America in a Mad Max-style landscape.

Expect to meet new characters, run into some old ones, uncover even more secrets, question your choices, make bad decisions, question your sanity and nearly die a couple of times.

Just a quick note, though, on the classic love triangle:
I hate a love triangle - mainly because this is overused in YA and the girls are dumb - but one soon shows itself and, I have to say, it is rather fascinating; I feel this three-way is justified and believable.

Fast-paced and action-packed, I flew through this one - I live for a great dystopia! Go check out this series today!

I really enjoy the way that Lynn Devereux brings these characters to life, it really makes the story zing. And it's so easy to tell who is who without even thinking about it, which I love.

OH MY GOODNESS you cannot possibly leave it there!!!! Oh, Oh, Oh. Ok so I really, really enjoyed this story, it picked right up where the first book left off (which I love!) and it got under my skin and just started scratching around. I really enjoyed learning more about the world they are in and all the new characters. Seeing how the relationships are built and broken and how they cope with their world. But now I HAVE to know what is going to happen next!!!

The Legion: The Legacy, Book Two was aother great read by Melissa Delport. Eric Dane has finally been stopped but Rebecca finds out that sometimes the enemy isn't the most dangerous enemy. They took down their target and the battle has completely changed their world. They didn't realize that their mission wasn't accomplished and they aren't free like they thought. Her father goes missing and Aiden is gone and it makes her not want to go on. Through suppport and love from her friend Reed, she finds that strength to go on. Rebecca finds herself as the leader of the Legion and is determined to finally end the war. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Damn you Melissa for leaving us hanging like that! When does book 3 come out on audio? I went looking for it today and it hasn’t been released yet!
No fair with this cliffhanger business you got going on here.
I think book 2 was even better than book 1 and I loved book 1!
The legion is making a difference. Rebecca is torn between her two loves but I’m rooting for Reed.
We know who the true big bad is now.... no spoilers.

Great read
The war continued and things developed with numerous twists and turns. The discovery of the other survivors made it very interesting and brought a lot of new issues.
I did not like the narrator at all.

The second instalment was filled with action, drama, love and pain. Rebecca discovered some interesting things, some of which made her and some of which broke her. She had some great moments and some powerful realisations. Everything was set up well for the final instalment.

The Legion by Melissa Delport is book two of The Legacy Trilogy and picks up four months after the end of book one. Rebecca's father is missing and hasn't been seen since the attack on the New United States. Eric Dane is dead, but someone is pulling the strings in the NUSA and preventing those in the Rebeldom to fight back. They have super-soldiers, more than originally thought and they are making more, which leads Rebecca to believe her father is working with them, but why? Can Rebecca save her father and can she defeat this unknown foe?

Oh my word I don't even know where to start!?! Usually sequels don't live up to their predecessors, this one does and if I'm honest blew my mind!!!!! It is action-packed with lots of surprises that left me emotionally shattered. Literally!!! It took me several days to get over this book, and that hasn't happened since I read the book-that-shall-not-be-named (:::cough::: Allegiant).

All joking aside, I really did enjoy this book! Rebecca is back and a better character than ever. The book starts with her in a depression and really who wouldn't be?! The love of her life is dead, her father is missing, and she just killed her husband. No matter how despicable Eric was, it still affected her....killing him in cold blood. It takes a mean speech from - of all people - Reed to get her out of her funk. Then she is back to being a woman with a mission. That mission make the United States whole again and out of a dictator's rule. Reed is just one sexy man. There's no other way to say it. He is Rebecca's equal in every way and I feel like he pushes her to be better. He gives her confidence to be a leader and the confidence she needs during a battle. Without him, I don't want to see what happens to her and neither do you!

There are some new characters, one being the man Eric named before his death, that I really enjoyed. At first I didn't trust them, like at all, but then I gradually began to as Rebecca did. These new characters bring an exciting diversion from the war the Rebeldom is attempting to start. These characters' mission is to search for survivors that are living on their own, the deranged as everyone calls them. Well, the deranged are not so deranged once they have food and shelter and others to talk to. It's amazing what they do and it reminds Rebecca of her own mission and the importance or it.

The plot of this particular book strays away from the main plot of the trilogy as it focuses more on Rebecca and her own reasons behind her mission to bring down the NUSA. This book focuses on those left outside the fence, their struggles to survive and their overwhelming gratitude towards Rebecca and those that bring them in. I love how this author makes it real! Rebecca and her small team find several deranged and basically - for lack of a better term - rehabilitate them. This book focuses on the human capacity for survival and love. Gives me chills just thinking about it!

But there's a lot of conflict and a lot of loss in this book. Even more so than the first if you can believe it. I thought the first book played with my emotions, I was wrong. This book completely tore them to pieces. I was sobbing at the end and all I can ask is "how much longer before book three?" because I don't think I can handle waiting too long to find out the fate of our characters.

Overall if you read book one, you need to read book two! It's one of the best sequels I've ever read to date. If you enjoy dystopians, action and suspense, and a little romance, do yourself a favor and start this series :D You won't be disappointed!

Really enjoyed this and the 1st and 2nd books in the series. So much so I had to keep reading to see what happened to the characters. Love the easy-style of writing and even though it is not my usual genre, I thoroughly enjoyed these 3 books.

Really looking forward to the release of the next book in the follow-up series.

The Legacy was clearly a setup for this book; and if you made it here, the issues the I had with The Legacy (Legacy Series, #1) {1st person POV - present tense, Drama, et. al} didn't bother you as much as they did me. This review grades on a curve (no stars deducted for issues in the series previously noted).

The Legion can stand on its own (and in fact I would recommend starting the series here); although some comparison is probably warranted. To start with, there is a much more "showing" and less "telling," making this story much easier to engage with. World building is also much better as the Rebecca, and party, wander across the landscape. In addition, there appears to be more dialog that enables the narrative to show off more range with each character; even if the default cadence and intonation still bugs me.

As we wander through what is supposed to be an apocalyptic landscape, but really doesn't feel all that different except for a few feral humans and mutants (rados), we get a fair amount of action to offset the more detailed character building that still relies too heavily on "info-dumps." There are a few mysteries/surprises make the story much more interesting than it otherwise would be ... with more than a few unresolved at the end (cliff-hanger).

Still ... most of the story remains frustrately predictable, given some of the poor decisions made by the heroes. That makes this an amusing diversion, but not much else. (Psst ... evil villian here; pardon me while I reveal my villianous plan in sequential, gloating monologues. It's not like you can esca ... wait, where'd ya go?).

As soon as I was done reading this book, I seriously cannot wait to read the third/last installment of the trilogy. Mainly, it was the conclusion/epilogue to the second installment that makes me exited for the third.

The second book has several revelations and goes into each character's motive, even minor characters, like Jethro. It's nice to hear other character's backstory for the second book, since the first book focused on the main characters' backstories.

The epilogue is told in Reed's point of view, instead of Rebecca. Melissa Delport did a great job of distinguishing Reed's point of view from Rebecca's, which a lot of authors struggle with. I actually liked his point of view and wouldn't mind if the third installment started with Reed's and then changed to Rebecca (hopefully).

The second book is still action-packed, with some slow chapters, but still engaging. Delport delves into the love triangle/square a little more in this one, but - just like the first installment - it is not focused entirely on the love story. It just keeps the story line moving forward.

As I finished book one, there was a little blurb advertising the next book saying "Do you need to know what happens?" and yes, I NEEDED to know! I'd picked up the first book for free, and that marketing ploy worked, as I bought #2 and #3, and they were worth it.

This picks up about four months after book 1 left off. There is a prologue, that gives a quick recap (although I was lucky enough to read these back to back.)

Again, tons of British spellings of words (foetal, manoeuvring, prise, favour, meagre, kerb, programme), and also some phrases said by our American characters (slow-coach instead of slow-poke, lie-in instead of sleep-in) ... I really don't think they would have used those phrases.

The story ... again, was great! Lots of unexpected twists and turns. Just as at the end of book one, there is an additional chapter from a different perspective, that happens again here. It's an interesting ending (and yes, it happens again in book 3).

I was very happy that the final book was available for immediate download.

I read this about five years ago and loved it. I remember loving it. This time, instead of reading, I was listening to the audiobook. As I owned it (given free from the author) and it was the second go-round, I'll admit it did not get the dedicated attention it should have. I'd listen in spurts, as I was falling asleep, I'd stop and listen/read other books that had a due date.

As I said in my review of my re-read of book one... I don't care for the narration. I think it impacted my enjoyment, as did my disjointed approach. I always feel bad when I receive something for free and then my honest review isn't stellar. No one else seems to mind the narration based on the other reviews on Audible, so maybe it's just me.

This book surprised me at every turn, kind of like The Walking Dead - both with plot twists and imagery.
I wasn't a fan of the main character in the first book and that didn't change here, but the people around her were engaging enough to carry the story. Having said that, the end helped redeem her in my eyes.
Highly recommend this book for any Walking Dead fans who like the action more than the drama in the series.

I enjoyed this book with the fast pace and twists in the plot that kept me reading. I was drawn into Rebecca's world, as Melissa writes in first person and is quite in depth with Rebecca's feelings and emotions, which helps a reader connect with the protagonist. I am looking forward to the third and final part of this trilogy especially to see what happens between Rebecca and Reed!
