She decided to talk to God for real, since she really had not for some time. What did she have to lose? Her mother, she thought. Charm begins to speak to God aloud, not knowing nor caring if she was alone or not.
“God, I do not know if you even hear me or care; but that lady in there is all I have. She loves you and she has always done right by you, her family and friends. She deserves to be healthy and happy. Please wake her up whole and not broken! If you do this, I promise I will change. I will be what you said I was when I was a little girl. I heard you speak to me then. Please speak to me now. I need you and I am so afraid and alone!”
“You told me that I am yours and that you are mine and nothing would ever separate us! I have been hurt so much, I am not sure if I can be that little girl anymore! How can I trust you to not hurt me again? Why didn’t you save my friend from death when we were kids? Why did you allow that man to rape and kill her? Why didn’t you stop it? Why did you let me get away and not her! Why didn’t you kill me, too? It would have been better than to live like this now! I would have been happy there in heaven with you. Please God, don’t take my Mother. Take me instead! Please!”
