The final novella in the New York Times bestselling Shadow Falls series!

Everything is changing, and Kylie’s not sure how to feel about it. It’s her senior year at Shadow Falls, but her boyfriend, Lucas Parker, has already graduated and has new responsibilities with the werewolf council. When he breaks a promise to her and leaves on a two-week mission for his pack, she starts to worry that their love just isn’t strong enough to stand the test of time.

While still devastated by his absence and the emotional distance that’s grown between them, Kylie’s visited by a new spirit with a vague but urgent message: “Save him.” The spectral visits are unsettling and confounding, but when Kylie discovers the ghost’s connection to Lucas, she becomes terrified. Lucas is the one she needs to save. While their future may still be uncertain, Kylie will do whatever it takes to save the life of the only boy she’s ever truly loved.

AAAAAA THIS IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED!!! I loved this! The angst, the love, the Lucas... 😍

Kylucas remains one of my top OTPs. This novella just proves that this ship will never sink!

I missed Holiday, Burnett, Della and Miranda so much! I was so happy to be reading about them again!

This is my favorite Shadow Falls novella so far!

It was nice to be back at Shadow Falls reading this one. I did hate that Lucas and Kylie were fighting for most of it, hated it even more that everyone but Lucas could see what was going on. Nice that Kylie was able to save the day and Lucas and they were able to work out there issues.

A great little taste of how's-everyone-doing from one of my favorites series. Short and sweet novella that gets all the stars just for being part of the Shadow Falls story!

Great novella

I love this series and Kylie and Lucas are my favorite couple. I was glad to get another glimpse of them and their relationship. It's nice to see that Kylie and Lucas still go through normal couple problems. Kylie is pretty perfect usually and it humanizes her and makes her more reliable. I definitely get where she is coming from, Lucas keeps letting the council come between them and doesn't want to see it. But she needed to trust him and tell him how she was feeling sooner. I also see that Lucas is fighting for his people, but he needs to stand up to the council. Ah, this is one of my favorite couples! I wish there was more!

This was truly the last goodbye to the Shadow Falls series! Fighting Back was one last hurrah with our favorite couple, Kylie and Lucas. Though it does take place before Miranda’s book, Midnight Hour. It’s been so long since I was with Kylie and Lucas really, they were around of course throughout Della’s series and Miranda’s book, but truly being with them one last time was definitely the right send off!

Kylie and Lucas have been spending less and less time together at no fault of their own. Lucas is going to school, works with the FRU and also has a place on the were council. Yet it seems the council is stealing every free moment of Lucas’ time. Though he doesn’t seem to see it that way, but Kylie does. Every time they plan a date or day together or just have a moment together, the council is calling Lucas in for an emergency meeting of some sort. Lucas is striving to get the council to see the wisdom behind mixed couples, but there are some members who refuse to listen and think that the werewolf line should remain pure.

Kylie also receives yet another ghostly visitor, one urging her to “save him!” Though trying to find out who the ghost is and who the “him” is, is proving to be most difficult, especially since her heart is hurting from not being with the guy she loves. And Lucas refuses to think that the council is trying to purposely keep them apart.

Though a rather short little story, I did find this one to be pretty good! I read it in its original format when it was a preorder incentive for Midnight Hour, I believe. There were a few mistakes in it, nothing like grammar, but occasionally there was a line that was repeated twice. I didn’t think anything of it until one of those instances caused the next line to be a reaction to something that was said, that wasn’t actually said in print. That one instant at least made it hard to figure out what was causing the strife between the characters, but other than that what we didn’t know didn’t hurt us.

This was a fun little read though despite that tiny mishap! I liked having this last adventure with Kylie and Lucas! Truly the best way to say goodbye to the series!

This was easily a 4.5, maybe a 5.0. While Chosen at Nightfall was the perfect ending to the series, Fighting Back made a great epilogue.

Plot: It’s been a while since Kylie and Lucas finally decided to be together, and everything isn’t all wine and roses for them. Lucas is constantly being summoned by his pack, and Kylie has a new ghost who is being very elusive.

Characters: I love Kylie and Lucas. In Fighting Back, neither of them is at the top of their game. Kylie can be kind of angsty for me, and she sometimes looks for things to go wrong. Lucas is my favorite Shadow Falls guy, and he was a little naïve. On a positive note, we get to revisit Miranda, Della, and Holiday and Burnett, who I love almost as much as Kylie and Lucas.

Writing: There were a couple of errors, but the editing was pretty solid. There is some language and a few violent scenes. There is also a lot of sexual tension, but no graphic scenes. I'd probably give the novella a PG or PG-13 rating.

Bottom Line: I’ve loved every Shadow Falls book, and Fighting Back is no exception. Since it’s a novella, the plot draws you in early and maintains a sense of anxiety through the last page. And while things are somewhat tense throughout the novella, the ending makes it clear that priorities have shifted, and everything will work out in the long run.

bruh…. this easily could’ve just not been written. why go through the extra fuss when the og series ends on a great note for them, we get to see the cutest sneak peeks of them in the reborn trilogy, and this doesn’t even add anything of value!! like we already went through the whole “lucas being conflicted over duty and love” thing for three entire books and it was resolved and then became an issue again? just silly and unserious. i mean, this could’ve just been a little novella showing them a couple years in the future being all sweet and cutesy and still very much in love (discovering their soulmate-ism) but instead it was THAT mess. BAAHHH— in my head, this doesn’t exist and i never read it, tyvm 😊❤️

Loved it

I loved it. I always wanted more Shadow Falls with The main characters and this book was it. Kylie and Lucas together are awesome.

I love their reality to stay together and the complexity of trying to maintain a relationship when it seems that the world is against you. Very realistic when it come to be real life issues. At least part of it, “working too much”.

The action was there, straight to the point, including Kylie’s ghosts. It had me on the edge of feet, I couldn’t put it down and I wanted more.

This is definitely an excellent read, and I would recommend to anyone that wanted more Shadow Falls.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Enthusiasts Shadow Falls Stars‼️
This book was a great surprise!!! Like finding another BIG gift forgotten under the Christmas tree when all the presents have already been opened. I absolutely LOVE Kiley and Lucas ❤️

I hope that we get more from these two in the near future. There is so much more left unsaid.

The pure innocent love is so beautiful to read about. Ms. Hunter has done it again! Th me friendship bond and life mate bonds were so tangible and lovely. I still have the warm feels from this one. And my book hangover will be a blissful joy in the days to come. I Amy even re-read this wonderful series ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!

3.5 stars// It was a cute book and I think it should definitely be the last book/novella having to do with Shadow Falls. It was a little too cheesy and it kind of took away from the novella itself. Della definitely wouldn’t read this novella if she was a real person. I do appreciate it being a small glimpse into the future after the final book and its’ events. Overall it’s a little too love sappy for me and way too dramatic. Still worth reading if you hope to have your Shadow Falls craving satisfied 😁

Another book from theShadow Falls series, this is after Lucas becomes a member of the council and is trying to change the rules about mixed species relationships, but he is finding it harder than he expected.

When Kylie finely states the council are trying to split them up Lucas doesn’t want to believe it!

Nice to continue the series with the characters growing up and deciding what there future may hold.

Ran into this novel much too late.

I'd never even heard of this series before. I didn't realize it was part of a series until nearly the end.
It made me want to read Shadow falls, but actually starting shadow falls is super slow and I'm not sure I'll finish it. Her abilities are super unique for a fantasy/paranormal novel and I was very impressed.
Its sneak peek definitely makes me want to read the mortician's daughter though!

Another wonderful Novella from the Shadow Falls world. I have to say though I bought this book on kindle and for such a tiny book an editor was majorly needed. I found so many grammatical errors in my ebook it was kinda ridiculous. But with that being said I enjoyed this story very much. There was a lot of suspense packed into 69 pages! If you are a fan of the series I highly recommend this one as well! Happy reading!

Rushed

I'm giving this a three because this easily could have been another full length Shadow Falls novel, and worthy of five stars, but as a novella it feels like something you would get from a kid who is a really talented writer but left his assignment to last minute to complete the assignment, meaning it hit on the basics and let everything else out.

This was a short book but a necessary book because it ties everything up for Kylie and Lucas. All couples go through hard times and this just shows some of the obstacles that they have to face as a couple and some of the things and people that try to get in their way. There is action, romance, a ton of love, and of course a happy ever after.

This was a cute little read. I’ve been feeling like it’s been hard to read and get into a book, but I love this couple so reading this was easy. It wasn’t the best book ever but if you like Kylie snd Lucas together it will make you smile. 4 stars, would recommend. Love Kylie and Lucas together, forever and always.

This one you can read in one sitting, probably couple hours, but I kept putting this down. I was not as infested in this one like all the others. This was good, threated love between Kylie & Lucas when the Weres decide mixed supernatural's don't belong together. Kylie has little time to get to Lucas before it's too late to save him. Relationship testing love, Family, & Great Friends. Gina Clabo

A short quick get back to Shadow Fall story. I missed reading about Kylie and Lucas. They met another obscure of their relationship. How could Lucas didn't see that the Council tried to break them up. It was so obvious. All was good in the end though.

This is the last chapter in Kylie and Lucas' story. C.C. Hunter makes it memorable. Kylie & Lucas face their biggest challenge yet, as Kylie feels Lucas slipping away. It keeps you rooting for this couple, hoping their love will last.

Very short and sweet it needs to be longer or C.C. needs to come back to this series and have Kylie and her friends fight a new evil.

I would love it. It could be near the end of Kylie's college years of a teaching position.

It was a really good novella! I wish it was a little longer just because I love me some Kylie and Lucas romance drama. I was confused on how it was listed in C.C. Hunter’s recommended reading list as after Midnight Hour when it’s most definitely before but besides that a great little read!
