Rate this book
Once a warrior, now a fugitive.
Spartan fighter Theron has done the unthinkable—he’s disobeyed orders and fled Sparta. All for his helot lover, Andreas. They can run, or they can die.
They’ve sworn oaths to Apollo; now their future lies in the god’s sacred city. The road to Delphi runs through treacherous wilderness, filled with vengeful warriors, greedy bandits, and savage creatures. Nor are the cities safe for strangers wearing the red cloaks of the Spartan military.
Once slated for execution at Theron’s hand, Andreas finds it hard to trust the man who betrayed him. Forgiving Theron grows easier for Andreas with every step they take. He isn't ready to trust Theron with his heart again—but remembering why is getting harder and harder.
A god’s scheming places a fellow exile in their path, Theron’s shield-brother Coridan. Still reeling from his own tragedy, Coridan could be the force that tears them apart forever, or who brings them together in Apollo’s service.
Three different men, three different pasts, who must unite in a common destiny.
If they can survive.

Kayla Jameth grew up on the family farm in Ohio. An unrepentant tomboy, she baled hay, raised cattle, and her father taught her to weld before she graduated from high school.

She attended Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University and later, Texas A&M University in her pursuit of veterinary medicine, taking her far away from her rural roots.

But it wasn’t all hard work for her, her sojourn as the princess of the Celestial Kingdom left her with the title "Sir" and a costume closet the envy of many knights, lords, and ladies.

After declaring for years that she was not an author, Kayla now finds herself writing m/m erotic romance outside of Houston, Texas. While you can take the girl out of the country, you can't turn her into a city slicker. Kayla would still rather be outside getting down and dirty with the boys.

She shares a full house with her favorite animals: a cat, two guinea pigs, a gerbil, three guppies, as well as her husband, son, and daughter.

Well I hope there's a 4th book. Lol. The author leaves the stories hanging right at a good part. Grrrrr. I'm really into this series. I'm fascinated by Greek mythology and I'm still really loving the research that's going into these books.

Theron and Andreas are now going to Delphi. Apollo has commissioned them. For what they don't know yet but when Apollo calls, you answer. They are still looking for Coridan on their way, hoping and praying he hasn't killed himself. They finally find him and discover he's being sent to Delphi as well. But Theron and Andreas can tell Coridan is a shell of his former self. He's putting weight back on but the damage has been done. Losing Lysander was a huge blow for Coridan. But now they are making the journey together. They have no idea what's in store for them but surely it's better then where they were. They hope for a new life, a chance to heal and move on. The journey isn't easy but they pray it will be worth it.

Well things are still a little tense between Andreas and Theron. They have to rebuild the trust and things they lost. And finding Coridan gives new tensions. Andreas can't help but think he's beautiful and can't keep his eyes off him, and Theron isn't happy about it. Comforting Coridan from nightmare one night, though, proves that even though they want to pleasure Coridan and help him heal and forget, the love they have for each other is more important. They only love each other. Andreas is having a hard time with other stuff too. Not being a warrior, to harm or kill someone, even in self defense, is hurting him. He doesn't know how to deal with it. This journey is life changing for all three of them. They are learning things about themselves and each other. And it's not always an easy lesson.

Really hope there's a book 4. Really, really do. There was much left unsaid and to do. But so far it's good. I think you guys would like them.

“Becoming free is learning about yourself; ... No longer are you following another’s directions and your path and purpose will present themselves. Only then might you find another wandering soul...who can walk with you but on their own journey. All of a sudden you might find a shared passion...” ~ Ritta Klint

'A Shared Love' by Kayla Jameth picks up where the previous book ended with Theron giving up his entire life in order to be with his lover, Andreas. The god, Apollo, has chosen Andreas and Theron to serve him and sends them on a journey to his temple in Delphi. Once there, they will discover what Apollo expects of them.

After being on Theron's 'hit list', even though he didn't kill him, the trust between Andreas and Theron is broken despite Theron having given up everything to travel with Andreas, who is still skeptical about having a role in Theron's life. The journey to Delphi gives them time to reassess their relationship, see what they can salvage, and, hopefully, get back to where they were before. The trip is very long and treacherous. They have to be constantly aware of the weather because they don't want to get caught somewhere when it gets cold. With many dangers on the way, they have to be stealthy and smart. A careless mistake can mean their lives.

Partway through the journey, Theron and Andreas run across a stranger and go on the defensive. Theron goes to investigate and discovers that it is Coridan, his former shield- brother. From his demeanor, Theron sees that Coridan is still mourning his lover, Lysander. He looks very thin and forlorn. Immediately, Theron wants to help him but the question is how.

The three men join forces and continue their journey. As they travel along, Theron and Andreas begin to rebuild their relationship; carnal desires are reignited - good for them, not so comfortable for Coridan. Flirting and sexual innuendos start between Andreas, Theron, and Coridan. Andreas loves Theron and is unsettled by the thought of sharing Theron, but he's also confused by the desire he is feeling for Coridan. Theron is having the same misgivings. He loves and respects Coridan as a brother; he wants to do something to make him whole. Theron is confused about his growing desire for the man but not sure he can share him with Coridan. None of them want to do anything that will hurt the other, but with the growing passion among them, something has to give soon. If they take this step, they know that there's no looking back.

The trip to Delphi takes a long time and they learn lots of lessons about themselves and each other. I love Andreas's ferret, Ictis, and the way the little rascal insinuates himself into everyone's favor. I found their devotion to him endearing. Kyria, Coridan's wolf companion, was amazing, brave, and even nurturing. Obtaining character growth for Theron, Andreas, and Coridan gives each man his chance to become the man they are destined to be. Thanks, Kayla, for the look at ancient history including handsome men, and hot, sensual scenes full of emotion. I will miss Theron and Andreas, but am happy they got to have a hopeful ending and kept Apollo happy as well.

Kayla Jameth does an amazing job of researching her historical books, both the factual bits and the mythical stories, and then melds them together to create an imaginative story. Then she weaves her interest in the ancient history of gay love to create an inventive story that appeals to many people.
In the third book of the Spartan love series we pick up the travels of Theron and his slave Andreas. You have to remember that most of the early times that this book is set in was not written down meaning extra research for the author. Ms Jameth has done a cracker jack job of imagining what the people of the 4th century BC did for their daily survival. These people also believed their gods and goddesses were very real as well as their mythical creatures.
In this book Ms. Jameth doesn’t coddle her readers with mostly modern terms. She uses proper terms for clothing and food, inspiring the reader to pick up the history as more than cartoonish characters and battles.
The trip that Theron and Andreas take is long and dangerous. Even something as small as a sprained ankle can be deadly. They believe they have been summoned by Apollo for a task and everyone they encounter is part of that mission. Their little pet ferret Ictus is a favorite “character”, providing love and warmth.
An inspiring and very interesting book, well worth reading.

This book is the end of Theron and Andreas's journey, I should say Odyssey in Greece. Both of them have chosen to flee and go to Delphi in order to dedicate their lives to Apollo who has protected them so far. They meet up with Coridan, one of Theron's shield-brothers who has fled Sparta as well. With Kyria the She-wolf and Ictis the ferret as friends (and a good addition to the stories of the books) they face their last adventures and have to better understand their love for one another. Should they include Coridan? This last book is also a beautiful reflection on what love is and how it can grow between two men, or three? Again I was sad to leave them and wish there were other books with those characters. One can but fall for them and want their happiness after everything they went through. I recommend this trilogy, even more so because the last book is probably the best. I really wish that Kayla Jameth will one day think of a follow-up as I would love to know what they become. Thank you for those moments.

I loved this story. I hadn’t read the other stories in the series that preceded this one, but I didn’t need to: there was enough conflict, passion and suspense to keep me turning the pages. Well done!

Such a great conclusion to an amazing series. I loved Theron and Andreas' journey so much. So much happened and they grew so much as characters. I'm going to miss them. I wish there were more books, I'd love to see Theron and Andreas confessing their love for each other. And I'd like to see a Coridan and Lysander's reunion.

At first I didn't like a third element in Andreas and Theron's relationship, but it's impossible not to like Coridan, he's been through so much! And it's also important to point out that Theron and Andreas really love each other, the relationship they have with Coridan is totally different. I love this series so much! It's full of emotions. I love Theron and Andreas' love story, I love that they had a deserved happy ending, but I would've liked an extended epilogue. Or maybe a fourth book? (fingers crossed)

This is more of a skeleton or outline for a story than a fully fledged story. Decent characters and decent historical setting are wasted on incredibly dull and slow moving plot, which is basically a day to day description of a journey from point A to point B. Even the characters complain about the monotony. Three types of events break it - bandit attacks, reaching settlements, and sex scenes. There are no meaningful side characters - at least not human one. There are adorable pets doing the adorable pet shtick. Despite what the characters tell us, they change very little and their interaction remain pretty much the same. Any sort of dilemma or conflict is swiftly solved, sometimes by dues-ex-machinas means. Gets an extra star because I've actually finished it. It was an effort. I wouldn't have missed anything if I hadn't.

The epic quality of the story is still there, but the characterization of the two MCs felt off in regard to the previous books and the narrative choices concerning the romance (see cover and title) deeply disappointed me.
The ending is a bit underwhelming too.
