Dimensional Modelling is used to design data marts and star schemas that help make data analytics possible. The only text books available are up to 900 pages long and describe the technique in intricate detail in up to 300 pages, which can be intimidating even to the the most technically minded. There is a need for a short primer on the technique that will reduce the volume of reading, while attempting to retain the level of detail. It is laid out like a course based upon slides so you can skim through at a high level. This will give you some idea what the technique involves before you get into the reference texts. This is what a primer is all about. At the text level it is not a light read. You cannot condense 300 pages of already heavy prose down to a small primer and make it a lighter read. It is no worse than the original texts, but you need to know this in advance. The introduction provides a light summary of data warehousing and business intelligence for those new to the topic, then the detailed material kicks in. You will notice a difference. I wrote this book because I believe there is a specific need to be met, but it is not for everyone. I wanted it to be free but could not do that an Amazon, so I have set the lowest price possible.
