Since leaving the Army six months ago, Izzy Rivera has closed herself off from everyone and everything. I have read all three of this series. All wonderful stories. Connected but easily stand alone stories. Each story is completely its own. And wonderful. Wind Chime Summer is romantic. Its uplifting. You cant help but hope for the characters trying to get their lives back in order. Not just the main characters. Not to mention how much I learned about oyster farming. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Fascinating.

I think...I needed this. I've been restless lately, going from one book to another, reading but not absorbing, feeling listless after each read. Maybe this is what I've needed? It settled me in ways I can't describe. It's more than a feel good, heart warming, overcoming the odds romance.
It's about healing, deep down soul healing, and renewed faith in others.
Izzy's PTSD is unlike others I've read in military themed romances. Hers is the result of a superior officer, but it runs just as deep as the soldiers who have suffered on the battlefield. She's broken and mistrustful. She lashes out. She's lost everything. If this rehab program doesn't work, if she doesn't allow it to work, nothing can save her from a future that's so far from what she deserves.
Ryan's the complete opposite. He has everything he could ever want and need. The rehab center is an expansion of himself, a way of being close to home while utilizing the skills he's built over the years. But the crew he's working with are unlike any other. Men and women broken physically and mentally by war, something he knows nothing about, are a challenge to command. But he's determined, pretty damned determined to make it work, to work through the issues to accomplish two goals: grow the farm, and help them heal.
This story moves me. My gut would clench then drop then flutter as life changed, as love grew, for Ryan and Izzy. There's this overwhelming hopefulness that kept me in its grips as Izzy healed. And, wow, what healing.
I've only read one other book by Ms. Moss and it was quite some time ago. This book is just as stunning as that one. The characters, the setting, the lessons. I needed this. I really did.
A beautiful story that is guaranteed to touch the heart and soul of anyone who ventures to read it. I hope you do.

This story is the last of a three story arc that deals with PTSD, and issues veterans face when transitioning to civilian life. I am not a blogger, I did not receive a free copy of this book for an honest review. I am a reader and a wife of a retired service member.
I stumbled on Sophie's first book awhile ago. I read all three of the Seal Island Trilogies at the same time. (Patience is a virtue that I don't really possess.) I don't know if I left a written review. Often I don't. I am stingy with my 5 star reviews and I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling.
Why am I writing a review of this book now? Because I finished rereading Wind Chime Wedding and discovered there was a new book. Kindle said there were only 10 reviews. I want to lend my voice to a book that speaks at the heart of something important to me our service members and their families. I loved and hated the villain. He was too real which is probably why I hated him. There are lots of good honorable people who are officers in the military. There are also scum sucking liars who can kill a career (of both sexes) in the military. I have never been to a small Island off the coast of Ireland. I have never spent time on a small island on the east coast. I don't know any Navy Seals (I really do but since they served in Vietnam it feel like a different lifetime.) While my husband did deploy much of what he did I couldn't know about. I know military families. I think the families aren't supported enough! It's hard to be the one left home. It's hard to not understand the horrors that the people you love best went through. So this book spoke to the secret heart of me. I highly recommend this book (and the rest of the series).
Can it be a stand alone I don't know. I want to end with the thought that Collin shared in Wind Chime Wedding. It's not charity when you are training people to be a more cohesive part of society! No matter how you feel about the choices made about foreign policy, we should all support our military members! They didn't ask to go. They were told to go.
This is a bit preachy so please take it with a grain of salt (preferably on a large margarita.) Or just ignore it!! Since 2001 we have had more repeat deployments of whole squadrons into hot zones than any other time in history (including Vietnam.) We are sending more of the National Guard and Reserves into deployed hot spots than ever before. If you have a job the military is "short" of they can keep you past your original commitment. Yet, this is still a volunteer force so it effects the lower and middle class more than it does the upper class. Ask yourself why we allow a president and congress to make such far reaching decisions for our troops when they haven't spent time in the service of our country. Would their choices be different if it effected their spouses, their sons, or daughters? *sorry off soapbox now!!

Izzy has put her walls up because of something she has been struggling with, but is rehab what she needs to save her from closing herself in completely. She’s lost and feeling helpless, but through the help of caring people and the other veterans on Heron island she may just find her way back to herself. He knew what he was signing up for when he agreed to employ some of the men and woman in the program, but Izzy doesn’t seem to want to be involved in anything going on around her. She’s just going through the motions. There has to be something that will start dropping her walls so she can start to heal. Here starts the real journey with an attraction that is undeniable and a journey to overcome obstacles beyond the surface.
It’s no surprise that I enjoyed this read. This is a favorite series of mine. I got nothing less than I expected. It’s a story filled with heart and character. Sophie Moss has a way of building up the story and characters that you don’t mind waiting for final piece of the romance puzzle to fit in just right. The stories are different, but each journey will give a deeper connection to the next. I recommend reading the books in order.
I’m looking forward to next book in the series, which is tentatively titled Wind Chime Cottage. Sending a big thanks to the author for writing another great book filled with healing, trust, and love.

So much more than a love story! A great book. Izzy suffers from PTSD from her time in the military, but not from what she saw or experienced in a war zone. Her trauma came at the hands of a superior officer, but left a mark that was deep. Ryan has returned to Heron Island to do his part to help save the oyster harvest in the Chesapeake Bay. Together they feel a chemistry that can't be denied, but there are obstacles. Izzy is on the island as part of a program to help veterans heal, and she is assigned to work with Ryan on his oyster farm. Ryan, as one of the people running the veteran program, knows that it is hands-off for a woman working for him. The book tells their story of developing love, Izzy's healing through not only the veteran's program but also in helping bring her assailant to justice, and the workings of the fishermen who are working to revitalize the Chesapeake Bay. Great story! Loved revisiting Heron Island and the people I had come to know from the first two books (although this could be read as a stand-alone). Highly recommend!

'Wind Chime Summer' is a sweet read which takes its time in revealing its story. It is a slow burn but it needs to be and I loved the emotional, poignant journey it took me on.
Izzy is just another veteran part of the island's programme, right? Wrong. Izzy has seen the horrors of war and survived. It is not this that brings her to the island. It is her chance to stay out of prison. There is more to Izzy than meets the eye. She is vulnerable and fragile yet determined and courageous. As she finds her feet in working for Ryan on his oyster farm, she finds some inner peace and a passion and understanding of the nature around her as well as finding Ryan.
Ryan is patient and nurturing towards her as he fights his growing attraction for her. But will he be able to support Izzy when her truth is revealed or when things go wrong for her?
A thoughtful and poignant read that brought all the feels and was full of charm. I loved the premise and it was superbly delivered. This series continues to deliver first class stories.

Oh my Gods what a book! Hell this whole series is amazing.
I fell in love with book one. And have been hooked ever
since. I was so delighted when I found out this book was
available. I just had to read it immediately. This is the third
book and can be read as a standalone but I suggest you
read the other 2 first.
This is Ryan's story and how he met Izzy. Of course it is
thought the wonderful program will sets up in book one. Now
Izzy has PTSD but not why you think. In her case it is worse
as this happened on home soil. Now this book deals with
trained solders dealing with a range of problems. But Ryan is
working at pulling Izzy out of her shell so she can heal. As
he is more invested in her as he is falling for her. I am so
read for the next book. And make sure you read the note at
the back of the book to get a glimpse of what is next

I'm so excited that Sophie has released the next book in her Wind Chime series, and I couldn't wait to dive into this one! Wind Chime Summer is a beautifully written, heartfelt story that follows the struggles of Izzy Rivera, who is suffering from severe PTSD after leaving the army. Sophie has written such a unique character with Izzy, and I loved how it took a while to peel back Izzy's layers so that we really get to know and understand her. The love story between Izzy and Ryan is really touching as well, and Sophie moves the romance along at the perfect pace for these characters. This story is so much more than a romance, though - Sophie really gives the reader a true depiction of what soldiers go through when battling PTSD, and she takes us on an incredible journey of hope and healing. I absolutely love how she weaves a little bit of selkie magic from her Seal Island Trilogy into the book as well. Can't wait to see how she combines the two series in her next novel! Bravo Sophie!

Wind Chime Summer is among the best books I’ve read this year, which is no surprise since the author’s novels have been a favorite since I discovered her Seal Island series. Those earlier books revolved around a fanciful myth, while the Wind Chime series is very grounded in reality.
Moss takes a serious subject and wraps it in charm, character, location and romance with a depth of feeling that makes you care, really care, about the people that inhabit Chesapeake Bay’s Heron Island. I loved meeting this book’s new characters and revisiting those from the prior two books of the series.
Moss’s fans will delight, as I did, in an obscure reference to a character from the Seal Island series and look forward to how she incorporates this into the upcoming fourth book in the Wind Chime series. I highly recommend anything this author writes.

I think I enjoyed this book more than the first two in the series, because the wounded warrior is a woman. As a condition of her probation for a crime she didn't commit, Izzy has been directed to stay at the rehab group home on the island. There, she recovers from her own service-related injury and learns to trust again, while falling in love with the island's quiet marine biologist. As with the first two books, this one contains a lot of info dumping about the challenges of our wounded warriors and the need to do more. All three of the books are a little preachy, but it's such an important issue, that's probably a good thing. It's just that, at times, I found myself taken out of the story, thinking, "Oh, here's where the author wants me to learn again." But still, some weighty issues being delivered with a lot of small-town love and relationship building, and a HEA to boot.

You will fall head over heels in love with the stunning setting, the food and the two main characters!
Despite both characters having past issues- when they are together, something just 'clicks'.
If you are looking for a contemporary romance filled with history, love and survival you'll love Wind Chime Summer!

I love the Wind Chime novels, and the third book in the series does not disappoint. Author Sophie Moss tackles tough topics with grace and honesty, incorporates a realistic and heart-warming romance arc, and includes the beautiful and enchanting Chesapeake Bay as a backdrop. Her characters are authentic, her writing pristine. I highly recommend Wind Chime Summer, as well as all the Wind Chime novels. You won't be disappointed.

Fantastic
I have loved every book in this series but I think I loved this book the most. The characters were delightful, the writing was excellent, the editing was great, and the storyline was wonderful. The story flowed from the first page to the last. I highly recommend this clean series.

Izzy is a decorated veteran who has been sent to Heron Island to participate in a rehabilitation program in order to avoid prison. She hides some dark secrets and has closed herself off from others.
Ryan has returned to Heron Island after making a name for himself in academic circles. He plans to help the local environment through the development of an oyster farm and environmental centre that temporarily hires those completing the rehabilitation program.
This is a story of healing and self discovery. I can't put into words how beautifully written this book is. It is truly lyrical, and I felt like I was there - as though I could hear the wind chimes and see the moon shining over the bay with the gentle breeze in my hair.
The characters are wonderful, the location stunning, and the writing appeared effortless, as I was absolutely engrossed in the story. This writer is one of my favourites because of the way her writing makes me feel, and this book reinforced that even further.

Wind Chime Summer is the third in a series focused on healing from post-traumatic stress and grief in the peaceful setting of Heron Island on Chesapeake Bay. These feature romance and military veterans, but this is not your typical romance or your typical soldier. The author has a true gift in constructing real people with real issues, dreams, and struggles.
In Wind Chime Summer, the veteran's center that was conceived in Wind Chime Café officially receives its first group of veterans, including Izzy. But she isn't there because she volunteered to come like the others. The veteran's center was the only option other than jail. Obviously traumatized but refusing to discuss it, Izzy isolates herself as much as possible and won't cook in the kitchen even though she was a highly prized Army chef.
Ryan owns one of the businesses that has partnered with the center to give veterans a job while they are there, helping them to transition from the military to the work force. He is a scientist who has combined his environmental experience with his father's oyster harvesting business to create an oyster farm to resupply the bay. A good deal of the book explores how oyster farming works and the environmental reasons it is necessary along with the struggles the watermen in that area have. It is interesting without being preachy or slowing down the narrative.
My only quibble with this story (and it's a really small quibble) is that it adds in a hint of the supernatural/fairy tale in connection to another series the author has written. To me, that takes away some of the power of the narrative.
There is very little violence or language and no sex scenes though the portion dealing with Izzy's trauma may be too much for some readers. Overall, it is an outstanding addition to the series.

Wind Chime Summer is an amazing book about the power of healing and how discovering one’s talents can help you move on. It is the third book in the Wind Chime series written by Sophie Moss, which is just as wonderful as the first book in the series, Wind Chime Cafe. The story centers around Izzy Rivera, a decorated Army veteran who appears to be battling post-traumatic stress syndrome. Since separating from the Army as a gourmet chef, she was fired from three jobs and arrested for assault. To stay out of jail, she is accepted into a rehab program for veterans on Heron Island where she isolates herself from the other residents. [In the prior two books in the series we learn how the rehab program got started in an old refurbished inn.]
The other central character in Wind Chime Summer is marine biologist Ryan Callahan whose family has lived on Heron Island for generations as fishermen. He recently opened a nonprofit organization in conjunction with his new oyster farm in an attempt to save the Chesapeake Bay. His farm and nonprofit are the primary employers for the veterans’ center, and Izzy reluctantly goes to work for Ryan. It goes without saying that eventually, Ryan helps Izzy break out of her self-imposed isolation and helps her heal. Their relationship feels very realistic and the dialog between them flows naturally.
Hollis McCarthy narrated this audiobook and she did an outstanding job. She uses differing voices for all of the characters, young and old. Her narration was easy to listen to and she demonstrated the right amount of worry, exasperation, and yearning in all the right places. Simply put, this audiobook will pull at your heartstrings. The continuing story taking place on Heron Island switches to investigating the lives of two new main characters, Ryan and Izzy. This is the same tactic taken with the first two books of this series. Time moves forward while each new novel focuses on a new relationship and story while the cast of characters from previous novels remain present, only in a minor character role.
I thoroughly enjoy this approach. It's as if each novel is a story in and of itself but it also provides a deep and thought-provoking backstory to the events of the next novel in the series. I especially like the setting along Chesapeake Bay and Heron Island. Over the course of these three books, I feel like I've become more immersed in the small community. I can imagine Annie's café with its assortment of wind chimes, smell Della's cooking, and explore every nook and cranny of Will and Colin's inn for recovering veterans.
This story, the one focusing on Ryan and Izzy, was good. But, it didn't go beyond that for me. Maybe it was just how touched and moved I was by the previous two novels. Perhaps my personal expectations were hoping for something ... more. The tension, plot points, and character development were all good, just not as good, in my opinion, when compared to the first two books.
For me, this book was a better continuation of my developing relationship with the setting more than that characters. It is still a book worth reading, but given the choice between this one and one of the previous two in the series, I would first reach for "Wind Chime Café" or "Wind Chime Wedding".

Izzy Riveria left the Army six months ago after having served her country for years. She had hoped one day to retire from the military and open her own restaurant. Now Izzy can barely make it through her day as she battles PTSD. Forced to enroll in a rehab program or face jail time for shooting someone, Izzy reluctantly joins the program. As she slowly begins to know the other veterans in the program and her boss, Ryan Callahan, she starts to trust people again. Will Izzy tell her new friends the truth about why she left the Army? Can she overcome her PTSD and function in civilian life?
A lot of people think that romance stories are nothing but fluffy stories that aren't taken very seriously by the general public. It is true that there are some fluffy stories out there that are great for a good escape. Writers like Moss, though are tackling real life problems in their stories that get their readers thinking about current events. In this book, Moss not only touches on what some of our returning soldiers face as they reenter civilian life, but she also discusses environmental issues, violence against women in the military, and immigration.
I wasn't sure if I would like Izzy to begin with. As I was reading the first chapter, she was so darn prickly and aloof that it was hard to like her. As her story unfolded I couldn't help but be in awe of what a strong woman she was. The daughter of migrant workers, Izzy chose to serve in the military as a way to improve her life. Despite a huge set back after suffering a violent attack, Izzy emerged from that time period in her life better and stronger than she was prior to entering the rehab program.
Ryan Callahan, the hero of the book, was just as interesting to read about as Izzy. His father, a waterman on the Chesapeake Bay, wanted a better life for his son and encouraged Ryan to pursue his education and leave the area. Ryan had done just that by getting his doctorate in marine biology but he can't escape the call of his home or his concern for the polluted water he loves. With a plan to help save the bay by bringing back oysters, Ryan wins over the veterans that he has employed from the rehab program.
Wind Chime Summer is the third book in the Wind Chime series by Sophie Moss and it can be read as a standalone. Moss has written an emotional story about overcoming tragedy that makes for a fantastic read. If you enjoy contemporary romance or women's fiction, this would be a good read for you.

A delight for the senses.
Every time I read a Wind Chime novel I know I’m in for a read that I’ll love. I’m not a romance reader, but Sophie Moss writes romance that inspires and has great content, both topically and romantically.
Wind Chime Summer is the third in the series and it will enchant you. The first book set the scene for military and PTSD based drama, and this book follows a handful of injured veterans as they try to find solace, help, and inspiration at Will and Colin’s island rehab program.
Izzy Rivera doesn’t want to be on Heron Island and is determined to remain closed off and unapproachable no matter what the rehabilitation program offers. What she doesn’t expect is how the island and its inhabitants will affect her. Ryan can’t understand how she fails to fall in love with the bay and its oysters, it’s been his passion and all he wants to do is share it. Can Izzy let down her guard enough to let the sea air and much more infuse her and allow her to face her demons?
The beauty of Sophie Moss’ writing is that you always feel you are part of her story. The island breeze and the scent of its flora will intertwine within your heart as you read. You’ll taste the cuisine and feel the ocean lapping at your feet. This is a book that will inspire and move you.

This is a wonderful book and it is the 3rd book in the Wind Chime series. Sophie Moss does not disappoint with the continuation of this series with the story of a female army vet overcoming and dealing with the reality of her demons. I liked that the author touched on the story of a female vet, most books only deal with the male aspects of coming home from war and dealing with PSTD's not female soldiers. Could not put this book down! Each book in this series is better then the last.

This was my least favorite of the series, but I think that it is a tough subject to cover well in a romance book, but that this was very well done. It was still a great book. The setting is its own character and and the way that they let a romance story be more about each individual's journey, rather than their journey as a couple was really special. I love this series so much that I actually paid money for this book. Well worth it!

Magical story
Love this story about reclaiming your identity after a traumatic experience like Izzy was able to do. Great love story. I read this Wind Chime series in about a week not knowing about the Seal Island series so I will be going back as reading those and anxiously awaiting the next book.

I loved this third installment of the Wind Chime series as much as I did the previous two. These powerful story lines hold one's interest and the characters are wonderful. In each book, out of the darkness comes light. I'm anxious for the fourth book to come out. I can't recommend this series enough !

Great story
Tough issues, recovering vets and a dash of romance. This story grabs the read and draws them in. I love that the author tackled such a hard topic. Many women suffer in silence, and the author did a great job of showing the strength of standing with women who have suffered assult
