Izzy Rivera is headed to Heron Island, to attend a rehab program for vets run by, Will Dozier and Colin Foley. Shes not looking forward to the next three months, having to share her past, and the secrets she keeps close. She doesn't want anyone to see how broken she is. Izzy just wants to put what happened to her in the army behind her, and try to get by. She doesn't need this program, or anyone trying to understand her. But the people of Heron island, the Vets in the program with her, and her new boss, Ryan Callahan, all have a way of trying to draw Izzy out of her broken shell, and help her heal. But can she move on and heal, or will the pain, guilt, and secrets follow her forever. With a beautiful island, a group of people who know pain and lost, and days full of work, Izzy finds herself looking forward to her future, for the first time in a long time.
Heron Island, is Ryan Callahan's home. Coming back, and starting up his Oyster Farm with his father, is his passion. He wants to make his home a better place, and work hard to make his dream come true. Agrreing to let the vet's from his friends rehab program, work for him is a risk for Ryan while he's starting up his farm, but it's one he's willing to take, and soon he see's that its just what he needed, and what they needed. With his passion as a Oyster Farmer, and the Vets who have a passion for working hard, Ryan finds the farm taking off. His family, friends, and the vets believe in him, so he's determined to make it a success. Ryan finds himself drawn to one of the vets working for him, Izzy Rivera, this beautiful, lost woman. He see's a passionate woman, stuck under a closed off shell, and he hopes to offer her strength, to find her way.
Ryan and Izzy's story was a beautiful, heartbreaking, passionate journey. Two strong souls, who come from different worlds, but find in each other something special. Izzy's journey, was sad, yet beautiful, as you see her grow and survive and fight. This was a fantastic story in the Wind Chime series.
