A New Series of Short Thrills.

The Matchup Collection is a series of short stories that combines two well known authors.

John Corey, an FBI agent, and Bennie Rosato, a lawyer, are spending a vacation at the deserted Adirondack Park in upper state New York.

While searching for her lost dog, Bennie stumble across what looks like a terrorist threat in the woods.

While returning her lost dog, John calls the number on her dog’s collar and is informed of her dilemma.

While meeting up to determine what to do, things become dicey.

The story ending was flat and unfulfilling. Maybe the book should be longer.

Though the book has interesting moments, it feels unfinished.

I loved having John meet up with Bennie. John Corey is one of my very FAVORITE fictional friends. Love his Wise Cracking thoughts and comments. It's was nice to be with him even for this Short Story. I've not read any books by Lisa Scottoline in a long time but after meeting Bennie, I am planning on reading more of her Adventures. What a clever way of getting new reader's! I hope Nelson DeMille brings John Corey back soon. Miss him.

I have read all of Nelson DeMille's novels and enjoyed everyone, especially those with John Corey as the main character. This short story was not only an enjoyable read but introduced me to a new author, Lisa Scottoline, who I intend to start reading. I'll let you know what I think when I finish her first Rosato novel.

NO, NO . NO. I was getting all comfy to read Getaway when suddenly it just ended. What???
It turns out this is a short story. It started off great and then it just stopped. I wanted it to continue.
It was like giving me a gift wrapped with a huge bow and when opened it was dog food. (no offense to dogs.)
Please please Nelson DeMille continue this story!!!

Enjoyed this novella with Corey. He was in his usual sarcastic form. I wasn't familiar with Bennie but she was interesting enough in this short story that I will check out her series. There wasn't any suspense or action in the story, so if that's what you want this novella may not be for you. Still it was an interesting story that gave some background and insight into each character.

A very enjoyable read

This read was composed well and read smoothly. I liked the characters and enjoyed the banter between the two main characters. I really felt the suspense as they anticipated being confronted by terrorists. But good news, all turned out good int the end. The author even left an slight opening at the end for a possible follow up. (?)

Thought I'd bought a real book
, not a very short story. Where is the rest of this story?
What there was of it was a very good read; but the abrupt end left me using some bad words because there was no more to enjoy.

I love the one liners and the banter among his characters. Great short story. I’m sorry it’s over. Frankly, if I had met John Corey in the woods, I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to leave.

My only problem with this book is that it was a short story. I love Nelson DeMille and Lisa Scorroline, and I love the characters Benny Rosato and John Corey. I do not like short stories though. I was hoping this would go on for three or 400 pages. Thus, my four stars as opposed to five.
