To become a Godkiller you have to awaken the monster inside you…

Almost a year has passed since Nate's ex-fiancee woke up a Greek god intent on world domination and war. The problem? He doesn't know which god. And the promised war hasn't started yet.

With the Four Horsemen refusing to help, and an army of monsters living on his lawn, Nate resorts to the one thing he's best at - pissing off demigods and Greek Heroes in hopes of jump-starting the war.

But then he receives an ominous invitation that he literally cannot refuse. A dark, deadly place where nightmares roam free demands an audience. The Land of the Fae.

He must forget every story he's heard about the Fae. They're nothing like he imagined, nothing like he's been told... But to kill a god, he must first become a monster.

Shayne Silvers' The Wild Side is indeed a gloriously "deathly hilarious" novel as promised. This seventh installment of the Nate Temple Supernatural Thrillers might just be the best yet (a very high bar, indeed). Your laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe - all at the same time while having a blast reading this novel. It's plot is wonderfully written and the already superb characters somehow get even better. I know, too many superlatives there, but frankly this book deserves it. My one recommendation is that a new reader start with book 1 as the prior books in the series are really great and will definitely enhance enjoyment of this one. As for this one, you most probably guessed that I highly recommend it.

EPIC RIDE

Wow, I don't even know how to review this book without giving away spoilers. It was just so over the top amazing, kick butt fantastic. Each book in the series just keeps getting better and better but this one is by far my favorite! Nate is turning into something extraordinary. I think something like the world has never seen before.

The author always gives Nate snarky, funny and sometimes wholly inappropriate dialog that just makes me laugh out loud. The action is always intense. The feeling of friendship and family that comes with the ties that bind you together so tightly is woven into each story. That whole mentality that if you mess with my family you mess with me, and finding a horse head in your bed would be the least of your worries.

I love that this is a series regarding a male figure as the main character of the story but so many bad a$$ female characters are thrown in there. And in this particular book they really are the ones that kicked major booty. Ashley I look forward to finding you amongst the pages of the next book or I may have to have a throw down myself.

Well done Mr. Silver. Since the next book is due out in December if I don't find it in my Christmas stocking Santa is going to get a f'ing Carl note next to some burnt cookies!

I am speechless, absolutely speechless. Mr. Silvers has done it again. This book is the best in the series so far and, yes, I know I say that every time because it’s true. One of the things in this book that was different than the others is that Nate had to step aside and let his allies prove themselves without his help. However, don’t think that means there was no action at all. There was plenty of that! Nate had to take a trip to the wild side, but literally and figuratively, and find his inner bad guy…or a different one that he already has. Quite frankly, I don’t know what to say that won’t give away any spoilers. How about this? This book had terrific action, great character development (and character lessening!), wonderful writing, and plot development, just what we’ve come to expect from Mr. Silvers. And, yes, Callie was in this one, albeit in a minor role. I can’t wait to see what is coming next. If you are a fan of this series, you will LOVE this one. If you haven’t started it yet, you must do so now! Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Another 10 Star Reading Immersion!

I cannot begin to tell you how fantastic this book is. If you love urban fantasy, then this is the series for you.
If you have never read any urban fantasy, start with this series.
I am always absolutely blown away by this author. And this book is no exception. In fact, it's the best one yet.
You will laugh until you cry, then one minute later you will gasp, then you will be laughing again.
You'll wonder what is going to happen next, but you will probably be wrong.
Mr. Silvers takes you on an incredible journey with Nate Temple, a wizard in St. Louis. His friends are The Four Horsemen, Ganesh, The Minotaur, a Werewolf, Dragons, the list goes on.
If you only buy one book this year, make it a book by Shayne Silvers.
He is the BEST writer and a best selling writer.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS BOOKS!

This series gets more and more intense every book! Nate is back again trying to find out which God has risen and to get with killing them.

In true Nate temple style Wild side had me laughing from page one. Picture Hercules getting the mick taken out of him while playing beer pong to give you an idea of the humour.

This books sees horseman War come into his character and also allows us to see a different side, a more wild side to Nate and some of his closest friends. Travelling through the land of Fae the reader is taken into a world full of the bizarre which is written so well I felt I was there on the journey.

This book provides some answers and creates more questions but is done in the easy to read, hilarious, descriptive style that makes this series a favourite of mine.

If you want original, laugh out loud escapism then this book is a must in your library!

Slow to start, weird stuff happening in Faerie, the slow burn, then boom - action, chaos and mayhem all the way to the end.

And again I'll say it: love Nate, hate Indy.... no spoilers here, but the ending in this book was quite satisfying!

Once again the magical mayhem in this book is very nearly non-stop. If you haven’t already read the first six books in the Nate Temple series, you will want to do so before you get into this one; otherwise you will have a hard time figuring out what is going on. That’s tough enough anyway.

Over the last four books – maybe five – Nate has been pitted against more and more difficult magical foes. Each time it has seemed as if, once he has defeated this foe, the biggest source of his troubles will have been eliminated. Each time, it has turned out not to be the case. This time is no exception.

At the end of the previous book, Tiny Gods, Nate’s former fiancée acquired the magical object she needed – the hand of a god, I think, to waken a minor god, and did just that. At the end of that book it appeared that the war that would ensue from that action would begin before the end of that day and things would be very bad for everyone when that happened.

When we get to the beginning of Wild Side, it is ten months later, and the war hasn’t happened yet. But it is still expected any minute. Nate has gathered all his friends, and even most of his acquaintances at his home, Chateau Falco, where they are keeping an eye out for the worst. Nate’s spiritual brothers, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, have turned him down when he asked for their help with the war. So, what’s a Wizard to do?

Even Callie Penrose, from the companion Feathers and Fire series has come to help. But when it turns out that Nate’s next step is to visit the land of the Fae – again – he doesn’t take Callie.

Instead, he takes Ashley the werewolf, Tory the beast master, Carl the Elder, and Sir Muffle Paws the cat. When they arrive in the land of the Fae all of them are different. Wilder. Especially Nate, who becomes a creature named Wylde, sort of a Fae caveman type. Their task there is evidently to incorporate their wild aspect with their regular selves to become stronger without totally giving in to anarchy. This is less of a thing for Carl (who actually seems to become a little more human) and Sir Muffle Paws (a furry warrior called Talon in his Fae form). But it is very important for Tory, Ashley, and Nate.

They return to their normal world after maybe a day and a half in the land of the Fae, only to find that it has been seven weeks and the war has actually begun. And Nate is warned not to participate, except for some very specific targeted actions. Much of the point of the war is for his people to show they are competent to defend themselves without constant assistance from Nate, or they will be subjected to repeated attacks by the forces of – whatever.

One of Nate’s tasks is to kill the Greek Goddess Indie awakened. I just want to state for the record that, as Greek deities go, I don’t consider Athena to be a minor deity. Just sayin’.

The end is left a lot up in the air. People are missing. People who should have been more reasonable are tricked into not being reasonable. And an old enemy, long thought to be dead, reveals himself by betraying Nate and everybody. Maybe he is the source of all the trouble all along?

-4 stars. i liked this. the story was constantly moving, lots of action, kept me interested.

there were a couple places where it felt like Nate just won at everything a little too easily.

"the world will watch this and the world needs to see that your allies do not need you. that they have teeth of their own."
"you mean i should stay out of it? while battle rages on my front lawn, i'm supposed to, what, sit up here and watch my friends die?"
"sometimes one needs to pay a great price to obtain a great reward, and not paying that heavy price can result in ultimate failure for all, later."

"fucking Temples. pig-headed Masters of the Universe. think they're goddamned Time Lords or something."

"then as your fiance, i say no."
"it's so cute that you think our relationship works like that. no man tells a woman where she can go."

"showing her something that made her smile felt like the best gift i could offer, and watching her reaction made me realize i had been missing something for a very long time. genuine joy. not a triumphant victory over evil, but basic, simple joy. being happy about the little things. and i liked seeing that smile. it was just so pure."

"jerk."
"it's not his fault. you said there's a spell preventing him."
"i can still be irrationally angry about it. don't take that from me."

"only savage hope can quench a heartflame."
"i will take all Hope from this world. all hope for the wicked. all hope at forgiveness. crimes will be judged. apologies - even heartfelt and true - shall not outweigh the crimes. examples will be made. only terror will remain... for the guilty."

Loved the book. Love the series!

Book #7 of the Nate Temple series. I cannot say enough about this series. It really is good. It has great characters, even some from mythology, like the Minotaur and Achilles, who take on these cool personas and become these real life characters within the story. I think my favorite thing about this series is the witty humor. It comes off as just regular banter, not forced at all and that takes writing skill which this author has in spades. The one and only critique from me is that the f word is used quite a bit in this book (and one other so far). I personally would rather the author come up with a quirky, different word other than that word. This is just my personal preference. I simply cannot stand that word! I always admire the author that can write without that word, instead being creative, utilizing a different word(s), giving even more dimension to that character. Don't let this stop you from reading this book. The use usually occurs in the intense portions, so it usually occurs in a bulk then not for a while. It's not like it occurs on every page or even every chapter. It's just a fact and I think forewarned is prepared, that's all.

I can't wait for book #8! The author stated it will be released in December. Yay!!

Uncaged Review: I was actually on the fence with this book, especially the first half as it was a tad on the confusing side when Nate gets an invitation to the Land of the Fae, which this dark land changes everybody in the group – Nate, Tory, Ashley and Sir Muffle Paws, and not so much Carl. It went far out there, even for the Temple universe. Not many people survive this land, and Nate steals back a mortal child that had been switched with a changeling fae child, that had been killed. Each person will find their wild side…and either come together with it and embrace it, or be lost forever. There are a few twists that I never really guessed, but that happens often in this series.
The second half of this book is where all the action really kicks up a notch. I was also glad to see Callie Penrose from the Feathers and Fire series back in this book. I like this match up much better than the one with Indie, many books ago. Whether the author takes it in that direction is not known yet. This book will bring some endings, and some new problems. And I almost want to run over and grab book eight right away and remain in Nate’s world, but I think I need time to absorb everything first.

Absolutely compelling! Embrace the world of Master Nate Temple and it will...Blow. Your. Mind. If you could imagine the best things of The Avengers, 300, Lord of the Rings, Supernatural, and Harry Potter (as an adult with even cooler friends), you might come close to Nate's life. The Wild Side is the best of the series so far. There's more fun, heart, family, laugh your ass off, general craziness, and "we bring the terror" moments to date. Nate's got bigger and badder enemies, some new, some old...But to be fair I don't think that description comes close doing Wild Side justice. I felt like I was on a boat in a hurricane, before being tossed overboard, and arriving suddenly on a tropical paradise. Only to realize I was on the menu for the savage locals. In order to survive, I had to become the chef. Shayne Silvers is now my favorite author. I'm honored to have received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily posted a review. After all, if he writes it, I will read it. Master Silvers, take a bow for a standing ovation!!

Nate Temple: Wild Side

First off I want to say this is a great book series, overall. This is definitely one of my favorites. As a child, Nate Temple starts out a rich, and very annoying, playboy. He devotes himself to magic, he eventually becomes an amazing wizard. He goes through a lot, loses and gains friends, he fights epic battles and learns extraordinary new things.

In Wild Side, Nate fights many things, from his ex-fiancée to gods. He learns new things of his friends and himself. Through out the book and series Nate grows stronger and so do his friends. Through all of it you want to hate Nate but you love him. It is so easy to fall in love with these books, I just couldn't put them down.

This book series, and the Shayne Silvers Callie Penrose, has inspired me to be a better writer and want to write like Shayne Silver. His books are inspiring, interesting and absolutely amazing! Shanye has become my top favorite writer, that is big because it takes a lot of talent to take Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett down from the top of my favorite author list. I'm definitely looking forward to December and the next Nate Temple book!

Absolute trip. Nate and some of the crew have a mission in the land of the Fae.
Absolute chaos. Then they still have to go to war for a face-off with an awakened god.
This installment feels like a departure into new ground for the series, while simultaneously fitting right in as part of the overall story arc. More mysteries are answered, while additional questions are unveiled.
Laughter, tears, disbelief, and wows are in abundance. Upon completion, I felt like my chi's privates had been speedbagged by a vertically-challenged fae. But somehow in a good way. How is that even possible?
Wild Side in particular, and the Temple series in general, has no regard for pesky things like the reader's life or obligations. They continue to be impossible to put down. Take care of your duties first, because trying to stop reading part-way through may be physically painful. This is a triumphant return to the Templeverse.

One of the best books I've read this year

Can I just say that I can't wait until December? That's when the next installment in this series will be released, and that the ending of Wild Side has left me craving more. Each installment is better than the last.

Wild Side is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. One minute, I'm laughing hysterically at Mr. Silver's wicked sense of humor, the next, I'm crying for one of the characters, and the following, I'm pondering the philosophical questions raised by Nate's journey to the Wild Fae. To say I'm exhausted by the whirlwind of emotions is an understatement; I feel absolutely drained, but in a good way. I know I can count on this author to provide entertainment and tell a great story, at the same time. I would love to know these characters in real life, which is the biggest compliment I can give the author.

If you are a fan of urban fantasy, then I highly recommend you give this series a chance.

Poor Indie

I think that Nate really is taking for granted how he turned out with his 2nd, more primitive self. Afterall, he had Talon to guide him at least. Indie had no one while in the land of Fae. Indie was manipulated by a maker and two queens, not to mention that Joseph's stones were literally branded into her a short time ago. Nate could have handled her with love and gentleness from the beginning instead of trying kill her (even if it was on reflex the first time) and screaming at her and minimizing her then hidden reason for pain while in the dungeon. Both Tory and Ashley could have turned out to be just as bad or worse if they hadn't had Nate around to help them. I understand someone turning from good to bad as a plot point/twist but it felt forced and unnatural. Other than that, this has been a great book. I really enjoyed the romp into fae land.

Intense

The book intrigued me when the author was nominated for one of my Best Indie Titles of 2017 awards on my author blog, and the author was nice enough to share the story with me for a review. I know this is book seven and I haven't read books 1-6, but I enjoyed it. It started off strong, with a fast pace, and there wasn't a need to be familiar with the other books, but I think I’ll need to go back and read them all as a series. (I love reading series from beginning to end, almost as much as I love writing them). Anyway, in the middle it seemed to slow down a little bit but that didn't take away from the story. It was filled with action, twists and emotions than ran high. A great story, with wild and amazing characters.

All Hail Shayne Silvers and the Nate Temple Series!!

Nate is at it once again! Provoking demi-gods, Greek Goddesses, hanging with the 4 Horsemen and his Great, great, great Grandfather - aka The Mad Hatter!
While waiting for Indie and her war to begin, he is "Invited" to Fairyland by the leader of the Wild Hunt for who knows what... Nate can't say no because Mallory is the one delivering the invite.. What could possibly go wrong with that? LOL
In the meantime, he is introducing his new Kansas City pal/budding badass wizard, Callie, to his group in St. Louis.. Carl approves. LOL
Buy the book and prepare for take-off! Wild Side is a Wild Ride!!

Wow, this series just gets better and better with every book being even more packed with action than the one before!! Nate's back in Wild Side, his 7th book in the series that starts with Obsidian Son. No-one is safe from Nate's snark whether friends, family, enemies or even gods?! I challenge you not to laugh as he romps through myths, legends and pop culture with his own brand of Nate-ness!!

Nate has always had a lot going on but this was so enthralling with one thing after another so that you just had to read 1, or 2 or 3, more chapters. Even then you were disappointed if you had to put it down because life got in the way of finding out what happened next, and his snarky responses?!

I love this series so far, but I’ll admit this book wasn’t my favorite. I’m probably going to be tarred and festered for saying this but it ventured into...too much action? There just wasn’t enough of the fun, everyday, urban fantasy snark, and it crossed over into epic fantasy rather than urban fantasy. The only settings are no his “haunted mansion” and alternate realities, and no real interaction with St. Louis at all anymore. That said, it might be my fault because I always like the building action and mysteries and character banter more than the climax of any given book anyway, so I’m an odd duck. Hope the next book comes back to earth a bit so I can get sucked back in.

Another great book by Silvers. It took me so long to finish this book because I started a two month challenge that ending up eating up all of my reading time.

I thought the transformation of Nate and all of them that went into the world of the Fae was fascinating. I thought it was good character development and showed another side to this crazy universe.

It was also interesting to see Nate's friends needing to take care of the war even if Nate started it. Every book has increased the chaos and that was a nice touch to potentionally rein everything in and start a new storyline. Although I suppose the overall storyline is about Nate becoming a horseman whereas this book ended the Ivy timeline.

I did really like Ivy at first and Silvers did a good job at turning me against her. I also felt like a lesson really came out of this which was you may help get someone into a situation but all of their choices are theirs alone and not your fault.

Very satisfying! Lots of action, mayhem and killing!

Very satisfying! Loved Nate getting his Wylde side on... Didn't think it was possible for him to get any more badass! Kind of felt sorry for Indie at the end, but Natestayed stronger than I would have. I'm glad he and Callie seem to be connecting. Just what he needs and deserves; love, understanding, acceptance... and another HOT BABE! Too bad about Matthias, I thought he was finally going to get some peace and happiness in his life. We'll just have to wait and see fate has in store for the Mad Hatter!

Wild Side by Shayne Silvers

Wild Ride is more like it. This is the 7th book in the series of Nate Temple. Nate is a Wizard, A Maker, A maybe Horseman, a Fae, I think it is only the beginning. Shayne has a cleaver sense of humor and he will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. If you like a well developed character who is always in trouble but always trying to do what is right, you will love Nate Temple. He is not a good guy, he is not a bad guy, I would call him a grey guy.
Once you read the book or books you will know what “Fxxxg Carl” is all about.

There's a little Wild Side in All of Us!
Just when you think the last book was the best you have ever read, Mr. Silvers blows you away with the next one. I used to speed through books till I started reading this series. I wanted to savor each nuance and unexpected turn of events. The merging of personalities and battling within oneself was riveting. This book is not a fluff piece but an intellectual titillation! If you are looking for a book to keep you on the edge and begging for more this is it!

Sorry - first things first: I need to get something off my chest :

Heracles is Greek; Hercules is Roman.

There. I feel better.

Other than that, I loved this story. The symbiotic alliance of Wylde and Nate and others. The development of Effing Carl and Sir Mufflepaws. Epic battles. Heroic warriors. Stuff of legends.

My dislike of Indie is, I feel, thoroughly justified now.

Although this does finish the story arc, I'm looking forward to more. There's just do much waiting to be explored. Bring it on.

Temple Chronicles

First, I have to say that I would recommend this book and all of the Temple Chronicles to anyone who loves a good story! I absolutely love these books enough that I will be reading them again! Shayne Silvers, you have written an awesome series, I thank you for the many enjoyable hours I've spent lost in the pages of these books! I can't wait for December to get here and Nate Temple #8 comes out! Until then I'll be reading "Unchained" in Feathers and Fire book 1.

Wild Side (Nate Temple Thriller)

Author Shayne Silvers has hit out of the park once again with this latest thriller where he weaves in wonderful characters from mythology throughout written and oral history. Not only does he grab the reader with a very real chance you will spit out your favorite beverage laughing in the first chapters, but he also masterfully brings you along for the "Wild" adventure as well. I really have a very hard time waiting to continue the ride with all the great characters I have become so invested in.
