DONALD D. ALLAN is an award-winning author for the New Druids epic fantasy series. He is best known for his knowledge of just about everything – just ask him, he’ll tell you. He takes being a geek to massively huge geek levels – like level twelve. That’s pretty high. Mostly, he’s an introvert pretending to be an extrovert and so far, he’s fooling everybody. Wine helps.

He loves lying around and planning his next activities, such as yard work, house repairs, cleaning, cooking, etc. He plans a lot, but never really completes it. But planning is everything. He does complete novels though, and that surprises most people. They say “YOU wrote a book?”

Donald lives with his wife Marilyn, son James, daughter Katherine, and dog Woody, in Ottawa, Canada. Yup, he’s Canadian. Respect.

This series has really got me gripped and I just cannot get enough of these books. I love reading about the life of the druids, their interconnectedness to one another and to everyone else, their realisation that we are all Gaea and Gaea is us! The fact that they can see the shimmering lines that each and every one of us has which connect us to one another is beautiful! I also love reading about the community farm the group of Will and Nadine have set up, their life seems so idyllic however, it seems that even they cannot remain aloof from all that is happening to their country and Will has to make a difficult choice. Do the druids take part in the war which is looming on their horizon or do they stay apart? They and their powers are definitely needed as during every war the pain and loss of life is great but they are healers and should be able to heal anyone so Will is afraid to take sides. The battle scenes though not my favourite kind of scene are awesome and depicted with great attention to the least detail, so much so that these too are brought to life in front of the readers eyes. I just love Donald D. Allan’s style of writing as he balances the beauty of nature with the ugliness of the evil side, dominated by Erebus himself. These books are all about balance and harmony in the world and the need to realise that the war of good against evil, that is Gaea against Eribus is a battle which rages continuously in each and every one of us on a daily basis and that it is our choices which help to maintain the needed world harmony. Good to see that the druids are working together with the church to maintain this balance.

Fantastic read. This is book three in the Druid series and each one is better than the one before. I haven’t stopped thinking about this book since I finished it. A fresh take on good and evil, very vivid characters and a terrific plot. I can’t think of a single thing that would make this book better. Excellent job!
