In Dirty Little Secret, book 1 librarian Emma Bell finally learned the identity of the man she has been lusting after for months. Entrepreneur and mogul Gavin Kingsley did not want to corrupt the naïve librarian so instead him and his brother Cooper offered her a side-job serving as their date at functions promoting their high-end escort service. But soon both brothers realized they should have been more worried about their own hearts when they found themselves vying for the sexy librarian.

3.5 'My Person' Stars
So this book was chock full of..............................
We find out more about Gavin's secret from the first book, someone starts threatening Emma by leaving gross things on her door step and trying to run her down, then there was the psycho secretary, Gavin's ex's parents and Cooper Gavin's brother. Phew...............
All this made for a great page turner and I liked it. What I didn't like was how fast and neatly all the issues were resolved, this brought the book down for me.
An example was how quickly Emma brushed off what she saw in Gavin's office, not sure I'd be so understanding I think I would have lost it.
So every issue bar one got sorted with a neat little bow.
The only issue unsolved is the one needed for the next book.
I thought Gavin and Emma were hot together and that part was better than the first book for me, but not good enough for me to get past the other things. This was just okay for me but thats due to personal preferences, read it and see what you think.

My heart was so full, so full of her, of her love, I felt like anything was possible. She made me strong and brave and whole. And I knew with certainty I’d love her until my dying breath.
In the conclusion to the first story in the Forbidden Desires series, questions are answered and it seems there is no end to a number of enemies that are out to destroy the Kingsley empire. Some of the drama manages to impact Emma as well. When Dirty Little Secret ended, Emma was stunned when she learned some of what transpired between Gavin and his deceased ex-girlfriend Ashley. The biggest shocker was when Emma found a picture of Ashley through a google search. Her resemblance to Gavin’s ex was undeniably disturbing.
Reeling from her discovery, Emma avoids Gavin for almost a week until he can no longer stand the silence and is able to convince her to go on a business trip with him to Florida. She agrees to go because he promises to answer all of her questions about Ashley. Their relationship is strained by the demons of Gavin’s past. While he is able to clear up many of her concerns, Emma is still cautious as she has not had much luck in the relationship department. Her last boyfriend was verbally and physically abusive and with Gavin’s dominant personality and his need for rough sex, Emma is questioning whether she is about to fall in the same relationship trap.
Emma can’t deny that the chemistry between her and Gavin is like nothing she has ever felt before but there’s also Cooper Kingsley to think about. Gavin’s younger brother has become to mean a lot to Emma and he’s made no secret about his feelings for her. So Emma is torn between two equally handsome and charming Kingsley men.
She will have to make a choice between the two brothers and when that happens will the Kingsley brothers’ relationship be strong enough to survive?
There’s a ton of decadent steam to keep readers satisfied during the chilly autumn nights in this one ladies!!

Dirty Little Promise
picks up where
Dirty Little Secret
ended. Emma has learned Gavin’s secret and it’s not pretty. Hurt and confused, she ices him out while she tries to figure out if and how they move on from here. However, Emma’s questions and concerns seem to be the least of this couple’s problems. Not only are Gavin and Cooper pit against each other in a fight for Emma’s affections, but there are attacks to their company and someone’s out to get her. And I don’t mean this in the romantic sense. I mean in the “I’m gonna kill you” sense. Wowza!!
Let me tell you about everything I loved about this story: GAVIN!!
❥ He’s brooding, secretive, sexy, successful, wealthy, generous, charming, etc.
❥ He’s one of my new favorite alphas. Go figure ;)
❥ This man went from cold, domineering and dominant to hot, dominant and mushy. I love when an arrogant hero falls hard and it shows.
❥ His sex appeal oozed from the pages. His command. His dirty talk. His dirty thoughts. His everything. This man was sex on legs!
❥ His heart ended up being the biggest in this entire book. I absolutely loved how his heart hurt for his brother. Their relationship is so solid and I think that bond is what I admired the most out of anything else in this story. It endeared Gavin to me. It humanized him. Not to say that he wasn’t very human, but when he was giving the ice treatment, it gave him some much needed warmth.

I tried my best to make this a completely spoiler free review, but man oh man. A lot happened in Dirty Little Promise and I want to tell someone all about it. LMAO
Wow…just…Wow! Gavin is so much hotter this go round. I might be a teensy bit obsessed with him.
In DLP, we pick up exactly where book one leaves off. Emma is reeling from the secret she learns at the end of book 1. The brothers are reeling from their current predicament. Issues and dramas keep arising at work and everything feels out of sorts. As these situations continue to spiral, a lot of tough decisions have to be made. I was on the edge of my seat, flipping pages as fast as I possibly could to get to the end of this one. My heart was in my throat for much of the book! It’s a definite page turner, folks!
I have to admit, I was a bit concerned midway through. I thought, “oh my goodness, how on earth is Kendall going to wrap all this up?” I needn’t have worried. It was buttoned up quite neatly!
Here’s what I loved:
The family dynamic. I’m a sucker for these brothers and really enjoyed seeing them attempt to work through everything together. We see a bit more of Quinn in this story and he's piqued my interests.
Emma seems stronger and more self-assured this time around. She knows who she is and what she wants. I loved her assertiveness and willingness to go all in with her man!
The plot. I loved all the little tangents. Again...page turner.
The steam factor is set to MAX! Gavin is hotter, more dominant, and sexier than ever! Yumm-eeee!
To sum up as neatly as the author, it was really good! 4.25 Stars! I'm looking forward to the next story and I have a feeling Connor will give Gavin a run for his money in the sexy department.

A sexy romance that kept me smiling from beginning to end.
Dirty Little Promise is the conclusion to Emma Bell’s story. The smart and sexy librarian who tangled herself in a love triangle between two of the three the very appealing Kingsley brothers, Gavin who wanted to dominate her and Cooper who just wanted to love her. Although Emma wanted to want the charming and cheerful Cooper, the pull between her and the guarded and broody Gavin was impossible to ignore.
At the end of Dirty Little Secret though, Emma found details about Gavin’s romantic past that weren’t easy to process and needed further clarification from the man himself. Mainly his deceased ex-girlfriend could be Emma’s twin. Will his explanation be enough to give them a chance or will she go for the safe option and choose Cooper? Either way, the relationship between the Kingsley’s will be sure to suffer along with Forbidden Promises, their very profitable yet taboo business of professional escorts.
The past has definitely has come to haunt Gavin and he needs to decide whether to open up, trust Emma with his secrets and layout his feelings or lose her. Not an easy choice for a man who doesn’t like feeling vulnerable and exposed to rejection. Cooper on the other hand wears his heart on his sleeve. Emma is justifiably angry and confused and needs to dig deep and determine what would be best not just for her heart but her future.
I don’t think I can say more about this book without spoiling you. We get answers to questions from the previous book, there’s added drama going on in Forbidden Promises that complicates the dynamic between Gavin, Cooper and Emma, and there’s certainly passion and romance.
This is going to sound weird to some of you… ok probably to most, but I do enjoy a good cliffhanger. I like escaping into a good story with interesting characters that intrigues me and leaves me wanting more. Knowing that the “more” will come in the form of revelations and further character development is catnip to this reviewer.
Dirty Little Promise is the second book in the Forbidden Desires series by Kendall Ryan. It should not be read as a standalone, but rather in the series’ order. It is an addicting contemporary romance. Told mostly from both points of view and has a happy ending for the first couple in the series. The next book Promises to be about the rejected Kingsley brother.

This is book two in the Forbidden Desires series and I really enjoyed it! There were a few things that I didn’t care for regarding Cooper; one of the handsome Kingsley men! All in all though, I devoured this read quickly and I can’t wait for more!!!

While we were left with our dropped jaws from the epic ending of DIRTY LITTLE SECRET, book two in this incredibly provocative series, PROMISES to pick up right where we left off...with the phone call that left us wondering who was on the other end. We all had our guesses, but with Kendall Ryan, well, she ALWAYS likes to keep us on our toes! Gavin Kingsley’s truth is out and our heroine, Emma Bell is left with more questions than answers. Her past will never let her forget what she went through and she is not looking to make the same mistakes again. With this latest development, can she still trust her heart, or will her head win out in the end?

4 Dirty Stars
Dirty Little Promise is the second book in the Forbidden Desires Series and you must read the first book, Dirty Little Secret prior to reading Dirty Little Promise.
I love duet books!!!! I love a good cliffy and I love it when an author is leaving you panting for more. I was completely shocked by the ending of Dirty Little Secret and what an ending it was. Dirty Little Promise starts where Dirty Little Secret left off. Emma just found out about Gavin’s ex and how his ex looks A LOT like Emma.
Oh and the best part, it was Gavin’s brother, Cooper that told Emma this.
So, let’s get started shall we? I really enjoyed Dirty Little Promise. Dirty Little Promise was the perfect read with a little bit of everything, mysteries were solved, and relationships were tested and of course a little bit of kink was thrown in there.
Emma is a tough cookie and I understand her reaction, she’s confused, angry and confused. She doesn’t know how she feels about the situation and you can’t blame the girl. I like Emma in this book, I found her really likable and understandable. She makes Gavin work for it, yet she isn’t demanding and annoying.
Gavin is a mess. He doesn’t want the best thing that has happened to him walk away and I LOVE it when a Hero chases after the Heroine. Gavin is the alpha Hero you love in these books, he’s rich, he’s dominate and he’s kind of caveman in the bedroom. Gah, I couldn’t get enough! But there’s so much more to this story. There’s a lot of drama and it really keeps you interested in the book.
I love reading the relationship unfold between Gavin and Emma in the middle of all the drama. The company is at risk, Emma is at risk and there’s the story of how did Gavin’s ex really die? I was flipping the pages so fast trying to figure everything out.
Overall, I read this book in one sitting and when I was done I was so happy. I’m excited for the future books and I can’t wait for the brothers books because each of them holds a special place in my heart.

Dirty Little Promise is the second book in the Forbidden Desires Series and you must read the first book, Dirty Little Secret prior to reading Dirty Little Promise.
I love duet books!!!! I love a good cliffy and I love it when an author is leaving you panting for more. I was completely shocked by the ending of Dirty Little Secret and what an ending it was. Dirty Little Promise starts where Dirty Little Secret left off. Emma just found out about Gavin’s ex and how his ex looks A LOT like Emma.
Oh and the best part, it was Gavin’s brother, Cooper that told Emma this.
So, let’s get started shall we? I really enjoyed Dirty Little Promise. Dirty Little Promise was the perfect read with a little bit of everything, mysteries were solved, and relationships were tested and of course a little bit of kink was thrown in there.
Emma is a tough cookie and I understand her reaction, she’s confused, angry and confused. She doesn’t know how she feels about the situation and you can’t blame the girl. I like Emma in this book, I found her really likable and understandable. She makes Gavin work for it, yet she isn’t demanding and annoying.
Gavin is a mess. He doesn’t want the best thing that has happened to him walk away and I LOVE it when a Hero chases after the Heroine. Gavin is the alpha Hero you love in these books, he’s rich, he’s dominate and he’s kind of caveman in the bedroom. Gah, I couldn’t get enough! But there’s so much more to this story. There’s a lot of drama and it really keeps you interested in the book.
I love reading the relationship unfold between Gavin and Emma in the middle of all the drama. The company is at risk, Emma is at risk and there’s the story of how did Gavin’s ex really die? I was flipping the pages so fast trying to figure everything out.
Overall, I read this book in one sitting and when I was done I was so happy. I’m excited for the future books and I can’t wait for the brothers books because each of them holds a special place in my heart.

I didn't know what to expect on the conclusion to Gavin & Emma's story so I prepared myself for the unexpected. There were issues that Emma and Gavin were going to have to work through if they were going to want to give this relationship a chance to win.
Gavin was not used to sharing his feelings but with Emma he knew that in order to have a chance with her he was going to have to be hones all.the.time. and I knew that was going to be a problem. Sweet Emma had the cards on her side especially with what Gavin was withholding from her.
The heat between them just kept getting hotter and hotter and I was surprised my tablet didn't overheat. For a moment I thought Gavin was using sex to divert Emma's attention from the real issue but Emma was smarter than that. I loved the bold Emma that called it as it was and was not afraid to voice her opinion.
And like the rest of us, life happened and there were people, issues, secrets that were capable of separating Emma and Gavin. The question is would they be strong enough to overcome them? Would their love triumph? OneClick to read!! 5 Sexy Stars, Kara.

I was looking forward to this second installment. It's no mystery that Kendall Ryan can write. I unfortunately felt like this story could have been easily placed with the first book. I think of the expression... "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" in regards to this. I tire of writers stretching plots to turn a buck.
It was lacking in something important... A story! This was just a lot of predictable events that led up to marriage and some preamble about the next book for the hero's brother Cooper.
I didn't see what was DIRTY about this book. And the broody hero disappeared here. I felt like I was reading a different guy than in the first book.
And I guess if I am totally honest I would say that Dominant submissive crap is getting old for me. All this "Yes Sir" and "Please sir" makes me want to "Vomit Sir"
Give it a break already! And don't get me started on eight-pack torso book covers!! OVERKILL!

Okay, so at the end of the first book Emma discovered a secret that she was not happy about and fair enough, it would creep me out a bit too. Once again, she leans on Cooper for his support.
Both Cooper and Gavin have feelings for Emma, maybe it’s even love but never the less they really do care for her. Emma just needs to get her head around what she has recently learned and how she will respond. Her friendship with the Kingsley brothers is messing with them all so Quinn decides to force her hand if you will.
‘My brothers are both in love with you.’
‘I need you to choose one of them and let the other one down easy.’
If you have read the first book I think it is will be obvious who she chooses right? The one who treats her like a princess and makes her feel safe or the one who makes her heart race and her body tremble with lust? Either way someone will get hurt and the relationship between the brothers will never be the same.
On top of all of that there is a creepy stalker who sets their sights on Emma which puts her life in danger and living in fear of who it is and why are they hell bent on harming her?
Gavin’s past comes back to haunt him, causing huge trouble with their company and business reputation, this could mean losing everything they have built over the years.
So there you go, hope that sets the scene about what to expect. This is a fast moving story and I have only just realised that there will be five books in this series! And the next book will be about the brother who has his heart broken after Emma’s choice, eeekkkk! I cannot wait!

This was a really great and simple read.
One of the things I most injoyed about it was that while the hero Gavin had some darkness inside, but deeb down he was just so sweet and tender, as though the softness killed his hurt and left him like a small child when it came to sweet Emma.
And they realized that life can't go on without them together.
And they loved each other million billion.

Kendall Ryan went all out, full force on us in this second installment of the Forbidden Desires series and conclusion to Gavin and Emma's tale. I can definitely say that so many things happened here that I never saw coming. The "meat" and heat that you'll be looking for or craving from the first book, Dirty Little Secret, is certainly all in this one. Dirty Little Promise is just packed with so many twists and surprises, you wouldn't know what hit you.
Emma Bell isn't so much the sexy little librarian we first met. She's now Gavin's seductive submissive who brings out the softer, more tender side of him. I don't think I truly realized the inner strength this woman has until I read this. The things that happened to her here. The decisions she had to make. All that she's been through? It takes someone with a whole lot of patience and bravery and strength to overcome all of those. And little miss Emma made it to the other side, still standing tall with her chin up and the gorgeous, brooding and controlling man on her arm.
Gavin Kingsley was still the multimillionaire who owns and runs Forbidden Desires—the professional escort service—together with his two brothers, but he also showed just how much more he is than that. How big and gentle his heart can be when he wants to. Uncovering more of his secrets, revealing more of his past was such an alluring thrill. He's still the same man who craves and demands complete control, but holy hell did he freaking unleash all that dominance and sexual prowess he was holding back earlier on, so little Emma won't get scared and run the other way. We also know that Gavin's not the most open person, so whenever he shares something? You'll just eat it up and hang onto every word he says.
Gavin and Emma was absolutely explosive here. Their chemistry, that sexual tension between them was off the damn charts. The intensity is just on a whole other level. I loved where Kendall Ryan steered this tale and I definitely enjoyed the conflicts she added onto their story. It gave the book even more spice and your anticipation for everything else will just run higher.
And let's not forget Cooper because oh my goodness, my heart broke a million billion times over for him. He's the good guy! The sweet, nice and extremely attentive guy, but it wasn't enough for Emma. They just didn't have the same crackling chemistry or that overloaded connection Emma had with Gavin. And now... let's just say I'm all the more amped up to know his story. On what happens next for this amazing man. After reading that second epilogue from this book, I ultimately want nothing more than to have Cooper Kingsley get his true princess and his happily ever after. I'm more than ready for you, Cooper!

Like many readers, I was left hanging at the end of Dirty Little Secret and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next for Gavin, Emma, and Cooper. Dirty Little Promise picks up where book 1 left off and what a dirty sexy ride it was! This is not a stand alone and should only be read after reading book 1 in the Forbidden Desires series.
The first half of this book was filled with revelations and truths, but there were also plenty of sexy times too! It was wonderful to see this softer and more vulnerable side to Gavin and finally have Emma choose which Kingsley brother she gives her heart to.
The past does come back with a vengeance, however, and a deranged stalker thrown into the mix kept the action going. Yes, it wasn't a huge surprise who the mystery stalker was, but it did help test and strengthen the budding relationship as well as lay the groundwork for the next book in the series.
Overall, the pace of the book was a little slower this time around and all the drama seemed to wrap up a little too neatly. The last part of the book especially felt like one giant epilogue. Don't get me wrong. I love epilogues and enjoyed seeing a bit into Emma and her Mr. Kingsley's future, but this time around it felt too drawn out. I did like the set up for the future books in the series, however, and am excited to see more of the other Kingsley brothers!

The first book ended on a cliffhanger when something seemingly shocking was revealed about Gavin throwing Emma into a tailspin. Now, she has to decide which brother is her soulmate and begin to let go of her past and forge a new future with her chosen Kingsley.
I liked how Emma made her choice quite early on and how considerate she was of the other brother's feelings. Her path to true love wasn't smooth, and there is someone out to get her, which adds some heightened dramatic tension, although, it was very predictable and I wished it had been developed more to really up the ante.
We got introduced to her parents in this book, and I really enjoyed those scenes.
The romantic scenes were well-written, and, even though, I was upset for the guy that wasn't chosen, I completely shipped our couple and she did end up with the man I wanted her to be with. But my heart was aching for the other lost soul, and I look forward to reading his story next as I need to see him get his HEA.
This one didn't pack quite as much punch as the first book, and it was a bit slower-paced, but character development was strong and it's really well written so it was still very much an enjoyable read.

I am going to start with this review by saying I totally enjoyed book one and love this author. But..this one just didn't hit the mark for me. It didn't have the allure and back and forth that book one grabbed me with. Will I continue reading this series? ABSOLUTELY! I can't wait to get to the rest of the brothers. This one just dragged a little...and didn't hold me captive like I wanted it to. Thank you so much for the early copy!

Dirty Little Secret and Dirty Little Promise by Kendall Ryan are a duet; each doesn’t stand alone. The first ends in a cliffy, but the main story is resolved in the second book, even though a third, featuring a different couple is coming. These were my first Kendall Ryan books, and I was excited because I have heard many good things! While I had a few issues with the duet, I did enjoy it, and plan on reading the third in the series.
After listening for a little while, I found myself going to check when this was published. It reminded me so much of the rash of books published after Fifty Shades, that I thought perhaps I was reading Ms. Ryan's first series. We have the sweet, innocent bookworm/librarian, and the dashing, dominant, rich, broody Gavin Kingsley. He even said “I exercise control in all things”! He pilots his own helicopter, and a major plotline has some HUGE similarities to Fifty (but it’s a spoiler so I can’t say!) PLUS, the narrator is the same as Grey and Darker.
Emma Bell, librarian, (the sweet innocents are always Emma aren’t they?) has been lusting after a guy that comes into the same coffee shop as her.
“And every morning, promptly at ten to eight, Mr. Tall, Dark, and Sinful strolled inside and ordered a double shot of espresso to go.”
She never had the nerve to talk to him, but one day, when he drops his card by the register, she retrieves it and googles his company, Forbidden Desires, an upscale escort service.
We get Gavin’s POV too, and he wanted her. He left his card there hoping she’d retrieve it, but later realized it was a mistake. Too Late.
“She was a classic next-door-type. A walking wet-dream. Something I had no right to desire, but I wanted all the same.”
So she visits his business, and is offered a job. Gavin is denying his attraction, so he and his brother Cooper hire her to be their escort to share. (Not sex, just someone to go to events with). She couldn’t say no! Tons of money and two of the hottest guys she’s ever seen? Yes please. But of course, she was really hoping Gavin would just step up and claim her.
“The two of them together were completely overwhelming. So much masculine energy, the room practically overflowed with testosterone, making me dizzy.”
Gavin and his brother Cooper were two polar opposites. While Gavin was silent, broody and broken, Cooper was sweet, funny, friendly and loving. And he falls for the sweet librarian, while all Gavin does is push her away.
"She was all wrong for me. Innocent where I was hardened, and sweet where I was rough. She’d want a tender lover, someone who was gentle and took his time warming her up, not some asshole who’d shove al nine inches in just to watch her gasp and struggle for breath…”
As a reader, you know this is Emmy and Gavin’s story, and Cooper pretty much knew it too, but it didn’t stop him from falling for her.
Dirty Little Secret ended on a big cliffy, but luckily, Dirty Little Promise is out already so you can grab it. We have some outside suspense that I really enjoyed in the second book. But with names like these, I expected the sex to be dirty, but the dirty talk seemed to be more of the thing. With all his talk, I expected some hot little BDSM scenes and was disappointed.
“I think you want to feel desired and experience passion, but you’re afraid to ask for it. You want a man to take control, to make you feel wanted, and you want to feel pleasure like you’ve never imagined.”
Likes:
•A compelling story that kept me interested.
•A sexy read with a dominant, brooding hero.
•Book two had a bit of suspense and more drama thrown in.
Dislikes:
•Too many similarities to Fifty Shades.
•Cooper’s reaction was ridiculous and over the top.
•We get it. Gavin is nine inches. I wonder how often he measures?
The Narration:
I absolutely loved the narrators, and they enhanced the book immensely.
The Down & Dirty:
While I really enjoyed listening to the two books, I found myself doing some eye-rolling at the amount of common tropes this book used, and the abundance of homages to Fifty Shades. From him saying “I exercise control in all things” to him being a helicopter pilot, to other things (too much of a spoiler to say) I had to look to be sure this wasn’t published four years ago. I also felt that having “Dirty Little” in the titles implied it would be a way hotter read than it was. Still, I did enjoy listening, it kept me involved and engaged, and do want to hear the 3rd in the series.

Wowie! What an ending to an amazing duet. Totally mind-blowing and incredible story of true love. This story is proof that the heart wants what it wants and there isn’t anything you can do about it. This is not a standalone – Dirty Little Secret precedes this book and you don’t want to miss it. Emma is a sweet, innocent librarian who tumbles upon a couple of powerful brothers who own a high-end escort service. Emma has a curious side so she took the job supposedly accompanying the brother to events. Little does Emma knows she is way over her head when both brothers Gavin and Cooper want her for their own. Who would she choose in the end? You have to read this one to find out.

Cooper on the other hand is warm, kind and sweet… someone who will take care and love Emma for the rest of his life – a safe choice. Is that what Emma wants?
I couldn’t help but be drawn to Gavin – he is flawed and broken but deep down he has a swoony side. Gavin and Emma’s relationship is turbulent, consuming and passionate. There is no denying the overwhelming attraction they have for each other. They are different but opposites attract and in a way I think Emma is exactly what Gavin needs. She tames the beast. I feel that in this second book Gavin really shines. I adore Cooper – nothing not to love about this guy, a sweet soul. My heart hurts for him through and I sure hope there is a future story of Cooper. Now, the third bother Quinn is the most responsible and solid out of all three. He is the anchor to keep the three brothers as well as their company together. I would love to hear more about him.
I enjoyed everything about this book – interesting plot, the characters, and the steamy love story. Devoured in one sitting. I cannot wait for Cooper and possible Quinn stories.

Cooper on the other hand is warm, kind and sweet… someone who will take care and love Emma for the rest of his life – a safe choice. Is that what Emma wants?
I couldn’t help but be drawn to Gavin – he is flawed and broken but deep down he has a swoony side. Gavin and Emma’s relationship is turbulent, consuming and passionate. There is no denying the overwhelming attraction they have for each other. They are different but opposites attract and in a way I think Emma is exactly what Gavin needs. She tames the beast. I feel that in this second book Gavin really shines. I adore Cooper – nothing not to love about this guy, a sweet soul. My heart hurts for him through and I sure hope there is a future story of Cooper. Now, the third bother Quinn is the most responsible and solid out of all three. He is the anchor to keep the three brothers as well as their company together. I would love to hear more about him.
I enjoyed everything about this book – interesting plot, the characters, and the steamy love story. Devoured in one sitting. I cannot wait for Cooper and possible Quinn stories.

After the ending in the last book I was dying to know more about what Gavin was hiding and what this new information might mean for the Kinglsey brothers.
I was not disappointed by the secrets, desires and new threats that surround the little librarian and the escort CEO.Emma and Gavin have this heavy and intense connection and with a little danger around the edges. Emma and Cooper have this light and fun friendship. Cooper is safe and easy to love. Gavin is the complete opposite. This book ended up going places that I didn't expect which made it more interesting but at times I thought almost too much. There was a lot going on and it almost seemed like not enough pages to deal with it all. Family feuds, creepy threats, a broken past all while trying to just get through to the next day. What Emma has is all new and fresh and it quickly gets tainted by the old and bad.
Even though there was a lot happening in the periphery, the story line kept me on edge as well as satisfied. There were times I wanted a little bit more out of a conflict and didn't want it cleaned up so nicely but the story did feel put together at the end and made me want the next book because I don't think one could ever have enough of the Kingsley brothers.

Cholera, myślałam, że będzie lepiej, ale jednak nie było. Na początku jeszcze miałam nadzieje, ale ta historia chyba jednak zwyczajnie do mnie nie trafiła. Nie załapałam jakąś wielka sympatią do tej pary, ten tom dodatkowo wydaje się przeciągnięty i rozwleczony, w pewnym momencie po prostu już miałam dość i byłam znudzona. Nie pomaga też lektor (lektorka mega spoko) - nie sądziłam że to powiem w przypadku anglojęzycznego audiobooka, ale tak antypatycznego i mruczącego pod nosem gościa jeszcze nie trafiłam. To jest romans, a koleś czytał chyba książkę telefoniczną i to za karę. Cieszę się, że kolejny tom jest o kimś innym, bo chyba bym nie przeżyła Gavina po raz trzeci...

I really enjoyed Dirty Little Promises, so why the four stars? I think this is a rating that suffers from my assumptions of what would come in the second book for Gavin and Emma. From the conclusion of the first book, I such high expectations for angst and drama with feelings of both brothers and plot revelation that occurs at the end of book one, but the expected level of drama never really came to fruition for me.
Gavin is still the controlling and domineering alpha-male from book one, and I am still absolutely in love with all aspects of his character, the dark side seducing me and his lighter side giving me hope that he can get to his HEA. What we do get to see with the second book is the evolution of his character. We get to see the more loving side of him outside and occasionally inside of the bedroom. We get to see him bring down his walls and fully embrace that he is deserving of love and happiness.
Cooper...all I can say about Cooper without giving away too much is that he broke me by the end, and I cannot wait to see where Kendall Ryan is going to take him and how she is going to make him whole again. Because the once happy and charismatic Cooper slowly dissipates in this novel, and I want him back.
Emma gains a bit more of a backbone in this book. She is not scared to stand up to Gavin when she needs to do so. She is willing to make demands of him, and she threatens to walk away on more than one occasion. There are still moments when Gavin takes control both in and out of the bathroom, but the transparency between them makes the control consensual and hot as heck.
Dirty Little Promise has a lot of subplots I wasn't really expecting. I thought I knew where Kendall Ryan was going, but there were about 3 additional conflicts that I didn't see developing from book 1. Now, these conflicts make sense with the past of the characters. In no way was the author just throwing problems in the story to create unnecessary drama, but I did feel the abundance of conflicts didn't allow the big ones to full develop, resulting in quickly resolved issues when some of them are too complex to be fixed so fast. The story still delivers on all of the steam and goodness, and this book has a bit more romance as the hero evolves throughout the book. I can honestly say that his thoughtfulness and planning near the end of the book had me swooning hard, solidifying my love of this man. I also really enjoy the HEA she chooses to give them, as it fits their characters and their story well.
These brothers are fantastic, and I am excited for the rest of the series. It promises to have more broken and damaged heroes, more heroines who need to have the gumption to take these brothers down, and more stories filled with angst and drama, and I cannot wait. This type of story-telling is where Kendall Ryan shines.

This follows Dirty Little Secret and gives us answers and the fall-out to the cliffy in book 1. But it also throws a helluva lot more challenges at Emma, Gavin, and Cooper.
Emma is smart and sassy librarian with simple tastes. Gavin is broken, broody, controlling, and scared of being vulnerable and of loss. Cooper is the more easy-going, charming, dependable brother. Emma is stuck in the middle with the two brothers interested in her--one with a checkered past and more guards up, and one that would be easy to love. But only one can win her heart, so someone is bound to get hurt.
There are some continued internal struggles and fears with all of them and also various external complications and drama they have to wade through. The past can always return. Personal attacks can come in various forms. Choices need to be made. Priorities might need to change. But they are also beginning to open up, share, and admit feelings. But with that comes exposure of pain, secrets, and fear of rejection and increased vulnerability. I loved seeing under Gavin's layers more and Cooper was already more of an open book. These two brothers could not be more different. But Gavin also has some more specific needs that Cooper does not.
The Kingsley brothers are getting used to bad situations ruining things for them just when they think things have turned around. And they have plenty to deal with in this one. And Emma has to decide how she feels about all of the information and threats coming at her and what she is going to do about it.
Will Emma ultimately win the heart of her own personal Prince and get her HEA? Or will she be destroyed in the chaos that comes with the Kingsleys?

It ties up Emma's duet, and the next one will be about the brother who did not end up with her, and the fourth book will be about their other brother, Quinn, who had to play the role of mediator more in this book.
