Elemental Dragons #1

The Dragon's Mate

Rate this book
Luc Avila's been searching for his parents with his twin brother Marc for as long as he could remember, and he won't stop until he knows the truth of their disappearance. When one of his pranks accidentally goes wrong, Dane King, the leader of the American Dragons threatens to make him territory bound. Now Luc has to be careful - he can't afford to be territory bound. Especially not when the pretty little intern at the new Guardians of Existence facility has captured his dragon's attention. There was just too much for him to lose.

The summer internship at the Guardians of Existence facility was just one of Anya's steps towards her goal of uniting the dragons with all of America. Although it was the 21st century, the dragons of America were still exposed to prejudice, and hate. Her father argued that they'd given themselves a bad reputation, one that she felt was wrongly deserved. Now she was finally on the right track to achieve her goal and she wouldn't let anyone stop her. Especially not agent Howard Beauchamp who couldn't seem to get it through his thick skull that she didn't want to go on a date with him.

This is a spin off series of Emilia's Fated Dragons series, however it can be read as a standalone.
Warning: This series contains lots of sexy shifter action, irresistible mates and steamy love scenes. Tons of mouth watering Paranormal Romance bonus content included!

I HATED. The heroine of the first story - the dragon's mate elemental book 1. She was so wishy washy and was willing to tear her 'mates' world apart because she was selfish and naive.
The story was not lighthearted at all, it was full of angst and drama and had a terrible, unfulfilled ending. Even at the very end when he asks to marry her she tells him it will be a long engagement because she won't marry him until she finishes school. Not once during the story did she consider his feelings or ask him what he wanted out of life, it was all about her and what he could sacrifice for her. She never agreed to be his mate until she found out her father could accept a dragon in the family, otherwise she wouldn't consider it because then she'd have to choose between her mate and her family- she chose her family. Cause you know, her parents are going to keep her warm at night, right? Give me a break! Terrible heroine and I don't believe in their relationship at all. The hero deserves someone better! Someone to put him first, someone willing to make sacrifices for HIM!
Because the first story pissed me off so much I will likely NEVER read another 'romance' from this author again. This was NOT romance

The Dragon's Mate
Emilia Hartley

A fantastic story continues on with danger from the GOE wanting to experiment on dragon on the dragons. Luc is on a mission to find his missing family. He will stop at nothing to find them. Even when a pretty little intern named Anya turns his head and his beast's head too. Can he do his mission without grief and maybe just maybe snag a mate while he's at it.
Anya is working for the GOE trying to make a difference for the dragons of America. She knows a lot of people are misinformed about them. And wants to help. The only thing that irrates her is a certain agent that won't quit bugging her. Then she has to reprimand a certain snoking hot dragon about his behavior. Only she doesn't realize just talking to him and interacting with him will put them all in danger.

The Dragon’s Mate is the first book in the Elemental Dragons series and it picks up the story right where Fated Dragons series left it. That is a huge plus to the fans of said series! You get to see how everything goes between the Dragons and the Guardians of Existence. In Fated Dragons, we saw a lot how the human heroines were terrified of and/or resented their dragon mates. In my opinion, it was quite cruel to the dragon. Therefore, I am pleased to say that this heroine, Anya Forrester, is an advocate of the rights of the dragons. She has the strong belief that they should have the same rights as a human and will try her hardest to make the whole community of the Guardians of Existence while she is an intern at their Embassy.
Honestly, I love that this heroine has such strong beliefs and ambitions. No one likes a damsel in distress that never learned to stand up for herself even. Therefore, having a heroine with attitude and character such as Anya is a huge plus. Then again, I suppose you need emotional strength to be the mate of a dragon. Even when I am happy about said side of Anya’s attitude, I am also a little disappointed in her in other aspects. I truly wish she could have been a little more devoted to her dragon mate. Don’t misunderstand me, she loves our hero and helped him figure out what happened to the missing dragons. She even went against the corrupted beliefs of some members of the Guardians of Existence even when they are her people and were everything she once admire and supported. That was a huge blow to her, being torn into what she believes and what people she trusted said is for the best. Our heroine has a backbone, I’ll give you that. Nevertheless, I wish I could have seen her act a little more like a mate and not just a dragon advocate. What I mean is that I noticed how devoted, understanding and honest was our hero towards her. I just wished she could have had the same courtesy towards him. I mean, when you meet you mate your connection should be something quite intense. You should protect your mate from anything and everything, not just physically but also emotionally. I think she didn’t quite do that because she waited for her father to approve our hero. When you truly love someone, you won’t condition it to someone else’s support. Then again, this is my opinion. Judge for yourself the character our heroine has. I assure you, either way, she won’t disappoint.
Now, regarding our hero, Luc Avila. He is a dragon searching for his parents with the help of his brother. There is not much I wish to say about Luc because I truly hope you will give yourself time to truly get to know him and form a solid opinion about his character. I just wish to say that I admire his devotion to his mate and family. That is a huge quality that I love in the main leads and perhaps it is one of the most difficult ones to portray and keep through a whole novel. I am pleased to say our Luc exhibit said characteristically in a realistic and touching matter. Everything about him screams alpha but he has this understanding side that will melt you from the inside. Enough said, just give him the chance he deserves to show you what a great dragon-man he is.
I would highly recommend this novel to any shifter romance fan that is willing to embark on a journey of drama, mystery and a hell of a lot of corruption from a system that should fight for equality instead of against it. Fans of the Fated Dragons series, believe me when I said you don’t want to miss this series! Also, book 2 is already available! Yeah, get to it now!

Luck & Marc Avila have been looking for answers in the disappearance of their parents for decades. But they are not the only dragon to go missing without a trace. They begin to loose hope when it comes through the door of the new American Dragon Embassy. Anya Forrester, daughter of Lead Agent Forrester of the GOE (Guardians of Existence) and new Intern at the Embassy by the GOE, believe in civil rights and has worked her entire focus on getting a job in DC to fight for the Dragon populations right to be treated fairly and equally to any other human American.

Her father hates and fears all Dragons so when Anya is drawn to Luc it does not bode well. When she stumbles on evidence of a government cover-up of what really happened to the missing dragons and goes to the dragons to tell them. Tempers flair and a possible war lies on the horizon. Yet Luc will tear the world apart for the truth as will the dragons around the country.

From the moment you open the book to the last page you will not want to put this down. Elemental Dragons takes up where Fated Dragons ends. Both the human and the shifter characters are well written and will strike a chord of realism with their varied personalities. The story moves quick and leaves you wanting more. Lucky for us Emilia Harley's second book in the series The Dragon's Hunger (Isaac's story) is also available

My rating of "The Dragon's Mate - Elemental Dragons Book 1" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Luc and Anya

Luc has been searching for his missing parents who disappeared fifty years ago. He goes to the new dragon embassy to search for information. He bumps into the new intern and is speechless.
Anya is interning for Lianna inputting information into the database. Some of it is physical data and some needs to be downloaded. She also has a sort of stalker in the form of a GEO agent.
She finds information on accident by using her father's passcode at the facility with the computerized data to get encrypted files. She finds evidence of dragon abuse. She's not sure what to do with it. She tells Luc and his leader Dane about it.
They decide they need more information so she goes back into the facility
There is some twists and a few surprises.
You could probably start with this book, but I would recommend starting with Mated to the Dragon to get background info. The only negative is that the bookends at nine percent. But, some of her other books follow including three of the previous books that start off the GEO books.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I found the Elemental Dragon books drew me in and kept me reading. I found myself disgusted with what the dragon people had to deal with from the governing body, ‘GOA or Guardians Of Existence’. They were just a bunch of racist and ignorant people.
It was hard for Anya as she had grown up with her father in a high position in GOA and it was the opposite of all she felt right. She herself fell in love with a Shifter Luc and though her father tried to be polite she knew his true feelings. Or thought she did, the things that happened in that building was torture and I had a hard time reading what the dragon people were put through, but to read about how Anya and Luc worked together for good made it worthwhile. I don’t want to spoil the books so I say no more, Emilia Hartley does it so much better
Is there tolerance anywhere if not even in fantasy worlds? That made me rather sad to know everyone suffers for being different. I hope it changes one day soon, and not just in books.

This is my favorite of the series because I feel like it's the most complete even though it's only the start of the series. The couple struggles through the bond, the opposition, enemies, almost being kidnapped, and individual fears. Then there's the drama with the GOE. We get know how this family of dragons becomes so embroiled in the craziness that will hit them from what seems like all sides as the series continues. I think Luc and Anya are a good pair together because while Luc is lightness and humor, Anya has a good sense of humor balanced with dedication, focus, and subtlety to provide a foundation for her partner. They make a good pair and are both smart and determined to get to the truth no matter what heartache will follow. This is a good story with good characters and a solid cast that I'm eager to get to know. 3.5 rounded up.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

Awww, I loved this! The Welsh dragons were pretty fun with the intro to the new world of dragons being outed. Then things moved over to America, where the problems are the same, if not worse. I liked the thought of Luc and his brother in Liana's story, so when he finally got his own, it was exciting. I liked this more than I thought I would, because it's pretty much my favorite of this world at the moment.

The writing was descriptive enough but got to the point, making it a fun, fast-paced story that totally let me feel the connection between them. There were frustrating bits toward the romance but that's more personal really. Otherwise this was a good action story with a great build up toward the couple. Totally enjoyable for a sitting.

Anya has been determined to stand up for the people who are unfairly treated. Luc has been searching for his parents since their disappearance years ago. She's the daughter of a GOE agent and off limits, but fate has other plans. Will Anya be able to have her mate and family? Will Luc discover whether his parents are alive or not?

Loved Luc's story. I thought that Anya's character was awesome in the fact that despite how she was raised she saw more to the dragons then people were taught. Luc was a big sweetie and thought that both were a perfect match for each other. Cannot wait for more in this series!

Loved it. Ms. Hartley definitely knows how to make anyone fall in love with her dragon stories. Each one is so different and exciting. And the romance is always hot. This one takes a courageous human that wants to change how the world sees dragons from monsters to living beings. She just never thought she would fall for one of the gorgeous dragons.

This book was nice. And i read book 1 as the last one - I mean o started with book 2 and finished the whole set before taking this one.
Luc is a Strong małe character that would do anything for his mate. I really liked him.
Anya was sometimes too stubborn. She was also a Little too self-centered. But that's how she was raised.
Will they manage to stay mated or will they break apart as they are from 2 different Worlds?

Is this the start of an American dragon series? I hope so. I so enjoyed the Welsh dragon series by this writer, and this story of Luc and Anya has certainly lived up to her previous standards. (I voluntarily reviewed this free ARC).

This is the first story for the Elementals series. And it starts with a bang. Lucas is the prankster and without even knowing finds his mate on his first day at his new job. But what I did love about him was the prank he pulled on the first day. 😀😀

Definitely a great beginning to the series Elemental Dragon. The characters are absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait for book two.
Luc Avila and his twin, Marc were Dragon Shifters. For decades they've been looking for their parents wanting to find out why they disappeared. Going through the files in the basement hoping to find something. Luc found something that he never thought he would find especially now.
Anya Forrest is human doing her summer internship at the Guardians of Existence Facility where. Going thru the files she found dragons who were tortured, experimented on and things that shouldn't have happened. Should she exposes the GOE? Was her father guilty too? Then on top of everything that's going on she is attacked to a Dragon Shifter! Yep daddy guess whose coming to dinner?
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

I saw where some readers had a problem with this book, but I liked it. Anya is an American whose father works for GOE and has always been told that dragons needed to be kept apart from humans. Dragons are treated badly in the US, imagine that, and have a hard time making a living. Anya believes this is wrong and is determined to fight for dragon rights. She has gotten a job interning at the new embassy that has been formed to further dragon/human relationships. The first dragon she meets is Luc, in the process of playing a practical joke on her new boss, Liana (though she didn't realize this at the time). Luc is rendered speechless when he sees Anya for the first time. Luc is not often speechless.

Anya likes the looks of this dragon man she holds the door open for at the embassy. When she steps in to keep her father from arresting him, the prank sorta backfired and got the wrong person. Anya is a little disappointed when dragon man does not show up right away to thank her. The man who did show up in her work space was not as welcome. No matter how often her father pushes her towards Agent Beauchamp she is not going to date him, much less marry him.

Anya discovers a secret while transferring GOE files to the embassy that sends her straight to the dragon territory to tell them what she learned, by way of a dragon flight with Luc. She doesn't understand why she feels drawn to Luc, until one of the other dragon men lets it slip that Anya is Luc's mate.

Find out how this human who was raised by a staunch GOE agent handles being the mate of a dragon man. There is intrigue, betrayal, love, and a few suprises. I was given an ARC of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
