Debbie Cassidy lives in England, Bedfordshire, with her three kids and very supportive husband. Coffee and chocolate biscuits are her writing fuels of choice, and she is still working on getting that perfect tower of solitude built in her back garden. Obsessed with building new worlds and reading about them, she spends her spare time daydreaming and conversing with the characters in her head. She writes Urban Fantasy, Romance, Fantasy and Reverse Harem Fantasy. All her books contain plenty of action, romance and twisty plots.
There is absolutely NO transition between her being head over heels for Erebus in the first book and having sex and being 'in love' with Baal in this one! What the heck did I just read?? What happened to her sacrificing herself for Erebus to live? What happened to their slow burn attraction? I don't believe that Erebus didn't like her and was just using her that's bogus as hell! There is no warning in the beginning, she's just suddenly with Baal and it makes zero sense. I was not prepared at all for that sex scene. How could she just change her affections so capriciously?
Also, Cassidy has a problem with love triangles. She basically forces them into her book when none are necessary. It's annoying as hell. I'm going to stop reading her books if she keep this up.
I enjoyed the first book in this series so I was excited to pick up the second book. Unfortunately my excitement didn't carry through far into this book. For some reason the relationship that the author appeared to be establishing between Erebus and Kenna no longer existed in this book. I did honestly think I had missed Baal and Kenna having a thing for each other but no, it did just appear out of nowhere. There wasn't any sign that they even found each other attractive in the first book. I don't really care who Kenna hooks up with, I don't like being lead up the garden path. If Kenna and Baal are so much in love, why wasn't it established in the first book that they are drawn to each other? Unfortunately the random relationship overshadowed the story for me and I won't be picking up any more books in the series. If I read any more books from the author, I will wait until the entire series is out so I can check the reviews.
"Into Evernight" is a good follow up to the first book in the Fearless Destiny series. This time, Kenna and Brett are working together to bring in a 13 year old girl who is about to bloom. Her mother of course is fighting them but that doesn't stop them from doing what needs to be done. It is clear that someone or something is causing the change to occur with children earlier that nature intended and Kenna and Brett are disturbed by the events.
Meanwhile, Kenna is anxious over Sabriel. She has not seen him and is worried about him. When she requests a meeting with a seer, she discovers that he has been taken from her to be punished and that her memories have been altered. She is now on a quest to get him absolved of him crime and returned to her. Kenna and Baal continue to fight their attraction to each other. I should say Kenna is fighting her attraction to Baal. However, he respects her decisions.
Brett volunteers to go on a mission as Emissary only to be caught in a legal quagmire. Kenna is now ready to make her claim for the throne as the Black Moon is soon to arrive. She will face the current false ruler Kai in an epic struggle for dominance. He is one shrewd bastard and he doesn't like to lose. In order to infiltrate his kingdom, Kenna will have to pretend to be Baal's concubine, a role that will be challenging for someone as dominant as her.
This pages of this read moved quickly as subterfuge seemed to surround the characters at every corner. I missed Sabriel but was glad to see Fargol in so many scenes. It added a layer of levity that was sorely needed. I really enjoyed this read but if there was an area of criticism it would be that the ending was entirely too abrupt. I just couldn't fathom why the author ended the book where she did. Before you ask, "Yes, there was a cliffhanger," but that was not the problem. As a matter of fact I am one of those readers that actually likes cliffhangers. It was just that the story just ....stopped. Hmm, it makes me wonder if this was an effort to extend the number of books in the series. Oh well, we will see because one thing for sure I will be moving on to read book three.
Only knocked off a star for editing because I did get tripped up quite a few times.
I’m really impressed because a lot of times sequels fall short but I gotta say WOW! This was better than the first book by such a long shot I was blown away. The story flows beautifully with action, romance, hardships and trials for not only other heroine but her friends.
The romance was done so brilliantly that you couldn’t help but fall for him too. It didn’t feel forced or awkward and mostly it didn’t feel rushed and fall flat. I appreciate that especially because I just don’t like instalove type of romances because that’s just not how real life works. People looking for a good love interest build up they’ll be very happy.
I kept waiting for Kenna to accept everything and at moments it was really frustrating. However, the way Cassidy pulled her through so much the moment you’re waiting for is gorgeous. Trust me it was brilliant and I think readers won’t be disappointed. Kenna’s development as a character was impressive and it’s rare for me to find characters that develop from a strong to even stronger character. Fantastic!
The action is timely and well met from the characters which really helped develop the story. Basically there wasn’t frivolous action to avoid proper world building and character development. I believe voracious readers such as myself will be well pleased by this.
Hope this review doesn’t blow anything for anyone. If you’ve read the first you will not be disappointed!
Definitely a middle book after the excellent Beyond Evernight, here we have Our heroine Kenna basically hiding in plain sight. Well written this is actually a really enjoyable read, with a strong plot and the complex and layered characters readers of the prior book no doubt came to love. Highly recommended for those readers (and my five stars is for that kind of reader). As for newcomers, you really should start at book 1 to get the full impact (and easily understand all that’s going on).
Into Evernight .. Is a fast paced book and full of action. The author is very descriptive when it company to her characters.... Kenna Carter a fiery character who enforces the law and protects the innocent from monsters called Denizen. In book 2 Kenna wins the battle and passes the test and becomes Queen; Kenna is also the daughter of the late King Iribis. There are twists, turns and surprises that keep the story going. If you enjoy action, love and djinn magic this book is for you. I read it and loved it...
This is a great action packed series, the only thing bringing it down are all the errors. Lots of incorrect words used (of instead of off and out instead of our for example) but what really annoys me is when the wrong name is used. Introducing someone as Bran then a few paragraphs later calling them Bane. If, however, you're not as bothered by that sort of thing then DC always weaves a great tale.
I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first book. There are a lot less characters and less fighting. There is also better editing but even this one still has quite a few typos. As far as the sexy men and scenes... a big part of me is rooting more for Erebus compared to Baal. And the smell thing.. what was that about? A spell?
The book was good, many things were resolved but others were left unresolved and I hope it all ends and there are also more questions, as for the characters I liked them and I think more than the previous one, I already want to read the next one to know what is going to happen. pass . I also recommend the previous one.
Solid all star rating. Pages and pages full of captivating words. What more can you ask for, except more of it...honestly this was a great installation to the series. I am very much looking forward to the next one.
Another great read by Debbie Cassidy. We continue with Kenna on her journey to be whole and claim her throne. Admitting her feelings along the way is surely my favorite moment! Can't wait for the conclusion!
Kenna is back and its time to take the throne. Of course, that's not as easy as it sounds. I loved this book! Well written, with a great plot and characters. Looking forward to book three! I received a complimentary copy of this book and freely give my honest review.
I am really enjoying this series! Kenna is awesome! This would have actually made a great RH. I love the world building and the storyline. I feel bad for Lauren but Baal is great! Still would have like a good kick in the nuts for Blaine. Good read!
Jumps about a few times but quickly gets back on track. Understandable to ensure all the bases are hit. Could live a 1000 lifetimes w/o the use of the word moist but all in all like the heroine alot.
I like how quickly this book is going. How the story moves along without leaving you lost and confused. I live that the book hand a good end point but still left you wanting more.
This is an exciting story following Kenna’s adventures as she works to take the throne of the fifth dimension. With the help of Baas she will take on new enemies and learn about her powers. This is an easy and fun book to read.
This was much better than book 1! It had excellent pacing, and presented a compelling story of Kenna’s continuing growth to become queen. There were a few spelling errors that should have been caught by the editor, however.
It’s a beautiful twist of action packed kick ass novel created by one amazing author who never stops with her surprises, page turners and gripping plots.
Nothing is ever easy or straight forward in Kenna. Another great book full of twists and turns. Will the final book another twist in the tail. Cannot wait to read it.
I'd happily give this book 5 stars if it had been edited better. So many times I was thrown off due to missing words, transposed words, and words used incorrectly.
This is the second book in the Fearless Destiny series and it starts off right where the first book events end. The world building and characters gradually grow and leave a lasting impression. I loved all the new aspects that came to light in this book and can not wait to see what is in store for the next book of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
