Author, May I?

Rate this book
When the drama of the Book World becomes too much for one author, he brings fiction to life.
Johnny Quick is your fantasy come true. Or is he your worst nightmare in the flesh?

I'm an author. You know, the kind no one ever sees. I never leave my home in the woods. You'll never know who I really am.
When a dickhead cover model steps over the line with my assistant, I have no choice. I always protect what's mine, no matter what lines it crosses.
So, I cross the biggest line of them all.
I bring Johnny Quick to life.
He's the ultimate bad boy.
He'll stick a knife in your ribs, fuck your wife, and blow your wad at the track, all in the same day.
Every woman wants him. Nothing can touch him. Not even the law. He's unstoppable.
And he's fiction.
Johnny's the star of my bestselling Romance series. Now I need him to do a real job. That's where it all goes to hell.
Fiction collides with reality…
*Based on real experiences with the book world.

**This is a stand alone story, built around depictions of true accounts of happenings within the Indie Author community. It contains violence, crude language, sexual situations, a few cliches, and some stereotypes thrown in for good measure.***

We all know real life, real people, and real love aren't always roses and rainbows. I do my best to keep my characters, and their love, as real as possible, even if that includes an occasional stereotype or insta-love. Let's face it. Stereotypes exist for a reason, and love at first sight is a real thing.

So, if you're good with those things, and with: dirty-talking, overprotective alpha males as heroes, and strong, smart heroines; sexual tension and steamy sex scenes; a man willing to do anything, even kill, for the woman he loves (and sometimes the other way around)... Well, then you might love my books. If those things make you squeamish, these are definitely not for you.

In case you've just found me, I'm Aden, a male romance author in a female dominated world. I live in the south eastern US, in the middle of nowhere, with the wife of my dreams, Elyse. We have a few fur babies, and a horse named Joe.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An interesting love story brought right out of the pages of an Authors fictional series. It shows us that sometimes love can conquer all.

Holy wow, I don't even know where to start with this review. I absolutely love Johnny Quick. He's a badass and he knows how to get a job done.
From the blurb I was expecting action, but there's so much more to the story. I love the growth of characters and the epilogue, although I had partially guessed, knocked me for a loop.
I would love a spin off of this story, but it's not likely to happen.
I definitely recommend this book, especially if you love adventure and a dirty talking sexy scoundrel

Well this book was a surprise. I've read all of Aden's books and this is like nothing he has written so far. Johnny is a very intriguing character. The way he is brought to life by "The Author" to his interaction in the book world he is a serious bad boy. It's fun to watch (read ) him in action and see how the story plays out.
I don't recall anything else out there like this book it's a must read. Enjoy the adventure.

Holy hell, what a book! I mean, if you ever have attended a book signing event, you will recognize a lot of the things that go on in this story, well with the exception of the character who arrives to make a certain model learn some respect, and a couple of others as well. This book is incredibly written with a storyline right out of the book world that all avid readers live in. The meeting the authors, models, bloggers, readers, PA's....it's all in there and a lot of us have lived that. The drama that happens at some of these events, many have been witness to and this is what has set this storyline off. It's something that happens to the "Author's" PA at an event that puts this story in motion and puts Johnny Quick into an element that he has never been in.

The characters are well written and extremely well developed. Johnny Quick is a character in The Author's series. He's a thug, he's built, hot, badass and would rip your head off in a quickness if you cross him in the slightest. Della is the Author's PA and the reason for Johnny's having to attend this event, he is to watch out for her and to teach the arrogant, self-obessed male model who accosted her at a previous event. But it's Scarlett that catches Johnny's attention and his attraction to her is instant and his want for her is strong. He asks the Author "Author May I?" to get close to Scarlett. He begins to develope feelings for Scarlett but the Author refuses to let Johnny take his eye off of the job.

I think I have figured out one thing when I finished this book, and that is who the Author is. But I will keep that to myself....and then...I could be wrong.

Fantastic read with a male lead that will keep you questioning yourself about who he is, or what he is. It also made me think....I always miss the good stuff when I go to an event!!!

Something different from Author Aden Lowe and I am excited to highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed in getting this book. Go ahead, especially if you have been to signing events and see how many things you recognize from what you have experienced and what is in this book! Go on...get it!!

This is the second book that I have read from this author and I will be honest, I wasn't impressed with the first. However, I have heard nothing but good things about his other novels so when Author, May I? came through my feed I decided to give it a go and I am glad I did. The writing, the structure, the character development is light years ahead of the previous book I read and the story itself is a not miss.

Author, May I? is intriguing from the first page. An author, who calls himself The Author and remains anonymous to the book world, finds that his assistant has been harassed by a model at a book signing. So being the creative guy that he is, he sends his most lethal and outrageous character to watch over her at the next one. Johnny Quick is the enforcer in The Author's Dixie Mob series and is all you would expect. Foul mouthed, hair trigger temper, all around badass. He also knows that he is fiction and operating in the real world. Now this fiction/real world twist could have turned the plot into a cartoonish parody but Aden Lowe handily made it quite believable to both the characters inhabiting the story and the reader.

The story primarily takes place at the indie author book signing event and features the shenanigans and drama that anyone who has been to, followed on Facebook, or heard the consequent rumors afterwards about that occurs at some signings. There are the catty authors, the arrogant models, the infighting, and the over the top (or is it edge?) fans. Lowe takes all the dirty laundry that can (and has) come from these events and boldly shakes it out for the neighbors to see. Interwoven through the book world antics, is a well done lust turned love story between fictional Johnny and real life author Scarlett. How Lowe managed to make that believable is beyond me but it works. And the ending? It is out of this world while making everything fall into place.

A great read which will definitely ruffle some feathers.

Ever wonder what would happen if an author brought your favorite dirty-talking, alpha male villianish character to life to protect those he cares about, well Aden Lowe has done it with this book! Johnny Quick is The Author’s most famous, foul mouthed character and he is one heck of character, coming on the pages and into the real world. Aden takes you inside Johnny’s mind as he’s sent to help The Author’s PA deal with some jerks at a signing.

I really thought this was a fun read, really going to a different side of the story, changing up the usual romance MO. It was interesting and new and I really enjoyed the ride! Johnny is the rough guy who gets the good guys their HEAs in his books, but never getting his own. That is until he meets an author at the signing, and it changes him, beyond the character he was created to be. It was fun to see those changes progress and how that impacted The Author and his plans.

Aden Lowe really delivers a new, unique view of the book world, the characters and those big author events. It was dramatic, exciting, funny and at times sweet in a Johnny Quick kind of way. I definitely enjoyed this book and I know these are characters that will stay with me!

Well....this was quite a different book from my normal reads and very interesting. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it wasn’t what I got. LOL. You see, there was an author (not Aden Lowe) in the book who had a character he created (Johnny Quick), narrating this story. It took me a bit to really grasp that’s what was going on, but once it clicked in my head and I could remember that the imaginary character (Johnny) was talking, it really flowed well. Johnny Quick is a rough man and described to be quite hot (oh he was). Johnny isn’t your typical character though. He’s not always nice, he’s blunt, has no filter, he’s bad and does bad things. He’s the perfect candidate to take care of some issues at an author event that the author can’t attend. So the author brings him to life to help take care of business and put someone in their place. Things happen along the way though and Johnny doesn’t know what to do about it. Their reality mixing with Johnny’s fictional world, makes things really complicated throughout. If you want to find out what makes this book unique, one click it and enjoy the journey. It’s not a book I’ll forget any time soon.

Hi, my name is Laura and I confess I've never read any of Aden's books but now I'm addicted and not looking for recovery.  Leave the pamphlets and buttons outside please.

I never thought that a book would give me an existential crisis but here I am killing it.  #1 I'd never wish death on a model.  #2 I never thought I'd side with a bad guy. #3 Never thought that a fight scene over someone's honor would turn me on.  #4 Never wanted to rough a bitch up in the first 10 pages.

This book should come with coupons for industrial paper towels, tequila, lube, and a burger pub 2x1.
As a blogger, I normally get the same kind of story and that is fine with me. But I can't tell you how refreshing it is to read something and not know up from down.  That element of surprise is really difficult to achieve with seasoned readers but dude...50 points for Hogwarts because I had to reread a couple of pages because I couldn't believe my eyes.   This book is the perfect little black dress: ruthless and necessary.

First read by this author.

Pheeeeeewwwwieee, what a great concept for a book! A fictional charachter brought to life, the enforcer of a mysteriously named writer....THE AUTHOR. Johnny quick is brought into the real world to attend a book event to 'deal out justice' to another author and model after they assualt his assistant..
Johnny the ultimate villain meets Scarlett, a romance author....sweet and sultry she is everything he never knew he wanted....and temps our villain to want his own HEA.
What follows is a tongue in cheek ( perhaps?? Title states based on real experiences) spotlight on Indy book writer conferences.

I knew there was going to be some kind of dramatic twist in this book and there was. Which In all honesty, kinda ruined the book for me. It felt disjointed, I didn't feel it was delivered as well as the rest of the book was.

As an author, I am in awe of the whole idea of this plot. The idea of our characters being able to come to life and carry out our every whim is one I think all of us writers can appreciate. As a reader, I'm in love with this book.

Johnny Quick is one badass, sexy, foul-mouthed mofo and I loved him. The explanation for his existence was both flawless and thought provoking, and it was carried out in a way that made you fall completely in love with this villain turned hero. I loved watching him fall for Scarlette and how that changed the way he viewed himself.

This book is funny, sexy as hell and refreshingly unique. Aden Lowe has left us all with one question ... who is the real Walker Montgomery? ;)

A Noir style masterpiece.

As a blogger, I try to stay away from the drama surrounding the book world, choosing to focus on the books and their authors, but being aware always that this drama was going on. So it was always going to be an interesting read to see an author's spin on this drama.

Stylistically, this was superbly done with The Author directing his fictional character Johnny (or is it?) to get revenge in a world of back biting, sabotage, jealousy and much more and worse. It is a world that is becoming more prevalent and one that should not be allowed to thrive.

It did make for uncomfortable reading but for me shone a light on an area that I had been deliberately ignoring.

Aden Lowe's best work to date and completely mind blowing.

OK this isn't what you think it is but then again it is. This book is nothing like what this author usually writes and nothing like what you expect from him but it is AWESOME and a true mind f$$k kinda read. Bringing a character from a book into the real world and dictating behavior?!?! Yeah right I know but this author does it and does it well then turns your mind upside down with his twist. Yup he does that alright and it is funny and trippy and an amazing read. Now if you miss this author's connection to the MC's just wait and Johnny with his foul mouth and quick tongue will take care of that for you. Get ready for a wild read!!

Well...This book is completly different from any that Aden lowe has written before, I have read and loved everyone of his books and this is no different.
This book tells of what sort of things go on in the Indie book world, behind the screen sort of thing, that readers don't get to see.
As usual with Aden's, it is well thought out and well written. He brings to life his fictional character Jonny Quick to protect his real life PA/Assistant.
Aden has done a fantastic job of mixing real life with fiction.
Loved this surprise book Aden, can't wait for the next one.

I absolutely loved this story. It was recommended to me by a friend. I found the premise of the story intriguing. The characters were well written. The storyline was evenly paced. I wasn’t just reading the story. I was fully immersed in it.The premise of the story was so different. I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a story that hits all bases, an HEA, right vs. wrong, dark vs light, seeking independence, you got it. You were made to think while reading. I thought about what I read after I was finished. Kudos.

This was a fun book to read. So original. I really liked it. Johnny is one crazy mofo and I loved him! Scarlett is most definitely his other half.
The characters are a lot of fun. Some of them are intense and crazy while others you just can’t help but adore.
This book is one for any avid reader and especially for readers who have attended and book signings. Such a great book.
It’s sexy, insane, super hot and absolutely the most original book I’ve read in a long time.

Wow! This is such a totally different concept that really is amazing...making a fictional character come to life off the pages of a book and existing in the real world.
Johnny Quick is an alpha male character in 'The Author's' books where he meters out retribution and punishment to those who've come up against the Dixie Mob!
Johnny' character is larger than life and you can't help but really like him. Seeing the world through his eyes is an interesting approach and also fun.
Will Johnny ever get his HEA? Read the book to find out because it's not that cut and dried!

Mind blowing!!!

Just when you think things aren't real they become real. Johnny is one pushy character and he's real but is he really? Well this book has you wondering what is and isn't. I loved the banter between the "Author" and Johnny. Walker I wanted to just ring his neck right along with Sierra. Another awesome book by Aden Lowe.

An amazing and different romance novel, full of suspense, twists and surprises! It's so far from the normal romance novels you've read before you want to read it over and over! I don't want to give anything away to ruin it for anyone, but I will say that everyone should have a Johnny Quick in their lives! Please read this book you won't be disappointed!
