Inked & Kinked #1

Naughty Girls Do

Rate this book
Lexie Winters is on a mission—to lose her good girl image and tempt resident bad boy and professional tattoo artist, Ash Bodry, into her bed. Tired of being treated like his kid sister, it’s past time for her to play dirty. She has her work cut out for her though when it comes to the sinfully sexy yet incredibly frustrating man.

As far as Ash is concerned, Lexie is strictly off limits. Not only are they friends, her dad just happens to be the sheriff, and years ago the man steered Ash away from a life of crime. No way is he repaying that favor by giving into his wicked fantasies of Lexie. But when the little vixen strolls into his tattoo parlor and requests a very naughty piercing, Ash’s honorable intentions are tested to their limits.

Now that Lexie’s hammered the first chink in Ash’s defenses, and he’s sweating bullets, there’s no chance in hell she’s settling for his hands off policy. Even if it means some flirty strip tease action and late night skinny dipping to convince him that this newfound naughty girl will do whatever it takes to get her man.

Warning: This book contains hot tattooed men, good girls gone bad, and sexy times on a beach. Sunscreen and a bucket of ice on standby is highly recommended.

At the ripe age of seven, I penned my first epic, complete with stick figure illustrations. Sadly, my drawing skills haven't improved much, but my love of creating fantasy worlds is still going strong.
Yep, I still love writing about fairies, ghosts, and other supernatural creatures, only my stories pack a little more heat these days.

I currently reside in Michigan with my husband and overgrown lapdog. I'm a member of Romance Writers of America and Greater Detroit Romance Writers of America.

When I'm not writing or working the day job, I'm usually tinkering in the garden (weather permitting) or drooling over those smokin' hot Winchester Brothers from Supernatural. Strictly for research purposes, of course.

I don't really feel I can write a review as such because all I could focus on throughout this (thankfully short) story was how horrible the lead chick was. I was going to DNF but I don't like doing that and since it was one of those books that actually ended at 80% on my kindle I decided to stick it out.

Lexi (lead chick) basically goes in to see her tattoo/piercer crush pretending to want a VCH piercing purely because she wanted him to see and touch her lady bits - that just seems a bit weird and almost wrong. Then she (with the help of her equally annoying friend) decide to dance with someone else purely to make crush jealous and then she snogs him (not crush, the other guy).

When she finally gets it on with crush - it's not hot, not at all. She also gets all pissy when he basically tells her he doesn't think they should be an item - after she basically manipulated and guilted him into doing it in the first place, she has the cheek to be hurt when he seems to not want a full time relationship with her.

Oh and the ending? Don't even get me started on the cheesy ending with all her family fawning over her.

IMO? Don't bother with this

What’s a good girl to do when the man she loves sees her only as a friend? Why hatch a half-baked, slightly immature plan that actually works, of course. Lexi has been in love with Ash since she first set eyes on him when she was 15 years old and 12 years have not made a difference in her feelings for him. Unfortunately for her, Ash has always been kind and friendly towards her… emphasis on friendly. He’s never looked at her as anything other than a friend. However, that’s about to change if Lexi has anything to do with it.

I found this to be an incredibly sweet story and great if you are looking for a quick, non-complicated novella. My only issue of contention is Lexi’s behavior. She seems very manipulative. He won’t approach her at the bar, so she dances with his friend… he won’t go with her to a secluded beach alone with her, so she threatens to go hunting for bears by herself. Her behavior was more reminiscent of a 17 year old, not a 27 year old. That being said, their romance was actually tugs at the heartstrings. Who doesn’t remember falling in love at such a tender age and still remember those feelings fondly decades later?

I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick, sweet read with just a bit of naughtiness tossed in for good measure

I received Naughty Girls Do in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Only one of Jodi Redford’s characters would use asking her long-time crush for a naughty piercing as an excuse to get the guy’s attention. That’s what I love about this author’s characters. You never know what to expect… except for the unexpected. ;)

Naughty Girls Do was fun. From Lexie’s approach, to Ash’s reluctance, to the inevitable cave in. There was plenty of heat and tension between these two. This one was short and sweet – only 75 pages – but the story wasn’t lacking. Not that I wouldn’t have wanted to spend more time getting to know Lexie and Ash. Sometimes a quick late night read is all you’re looking for. If so, Naughty Girls Do is perfect.

It’s also part of the Red, Hot & BOOM! series, which contains 15 stories by 15 authors for 99¢ each. Perfect way to celebrate the summer don’t you think?

This was a very short and sexy 4th of July story! It was a "Friends to Lovers"-esque theme, but with some differences. There was also a bad boy and good girl turned bad theme as well, which made for an engaging hero and heroine! I really liked how pulled together this story was, because it wasn't just about the sex, we actually got to see an HEA as well! A very cute summer read!

Fun and quick read

This story had some potential to it but let fund it lacking a bit. There is a good story line and I know most short stories are kind of instalove material and this was no different. However I was a little conflicted with it because they had known each other for so long but yet they weren't even really together except for twice and then bam they're getting married. Other than that it was wasn't to bad. They had some great chemistry.

It claims to be part of the Inked and Kinked romance series. For sure this couple focus is on Lexie Winters and Ash Bodry.

My Take
This was so cute! Lexie finally decides to, ahem, grab the bull by the horns, and get what she's been wantin' for too long. And Ash has no say, lol.

let’s be so honest here. this was exactly as expected why did they get married after not dating ever? who knows. Why did she eat up that proposal directly in front of her grandfather ? couldn’t tell you. this was 45 pages of art tho i can tell you that

This was a quick and easy read. I liked it overall, but Ash was fighting his feelings so much it got annoying at some points. I'm glad she made him think about it for a bit. Also, I get they were friends before the parade, but it's so weird they went straight to being engaged.

While I'm admittedly predisposed to liking Jodi Redford's books (she writes some seriously steamy stuff and I LIKE STEAMY THINGS!), I was LOVING Lexie and Ash. Between Lexie's request for a piercing that puts her lady parts front and center and Ash's dirty talk, I WAS SMITTEN.

I can't help but adore a lady who dives headfirst (or, umm, lady garden first in this case) for something she wants. Throw in Ash's predilection for naughtiness and tattoos (seriously, I'm just a sucker for those tattooed heroes!) and we have a winner.

The sex was smokin', the banter was hilarious, and Ash's way of making things right got a slow thumbs up from me. If only there had been a surprise appearance by a tentacled monster while they were at the lake. What? A girl can dream, can't she? (Is this a sign I should lay off reading the monster erotica for a while? Wait. Don't answer that. My heart couldn't handle it if the answer is yes.)

Short, sweet, hot, and not the best story for reading at naptime at work. Whew! I'm not sure how the kids slept through the heat.

Ash and Lexie have been friends for years and have also lusted after each other for years. Lexie gets tired of waiting for Ash to see her as a sexy, desirable woman, and with some heavy duty pushing from her friend Grace, sets about winning her man, whatever it takes. She pushes his buttons and sexy times ensue; not all the fireworks are from the 4th of July celebration. But she wants more and Ash is still reluctant. Will they get a happy ending that works for both of them? Are there puffer fish in the story? Sadly, no to that. But there's a sweet love story, sexy times, and fireworks. I wish the story had been a little longer and that the resolution was not quite so quick but this was a fun, hot story that was perfect for a quiet afternoon.

A few overly long, overly descriptive sex scenes held together with minimal plot and characterization that led straight to insta-love (and marriage!) made this novella not for me. The basics were not unappealing and could have been a start to a stronger full length story. In this shorter form, it all felt very superficial. Also, the multiple possessive errors annoyed me. If a name ends in "s" (examples in this story: Gramps and Winters), the correct possessive is Gramps's/Winters's OR Gramps'/Winters'. Never Gramp's/Winter's. Where was your editor?

I'm not gonna lie.... the only thing I liked about this novella was the spice... 👀👀

The whole marriage proposal happened way too fast, along with basically everything else. I was hooked in the beginning when the FMC wanted to get her... 🐱 pierced... by her best friend that she's in love with to prove him wrong about being a goody two-shoes.

This just wasn't for me... but the spice was good! ❤️

***WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS***

*Naughty Girls Do* by Jodi Redford is a steamy and fast-paced romance that takes readers on a whirlwind of passion, misunderstandings, and unexpected commitments. While the story's boldness and chemistry between the protagonists are undeniable, the rushed conclusion and uneven pacing leave it falling short of its full potential.

The novel kicks off with a provocative premise: Lexie walks into Ash’s tattoo parlor with a daring request for a piercing. What starts as a seemingly straightforward professional encounter quickly escalates into a fiery connection that blurs boundaries. Lexie’s brazen confidence and Ash’s internal conflict create palpable tension that drives the story’s steamy scenes.

The characters are engaging, with Lexie embodying a mix of boldness and vulnerability, while Ash struggles with his own reservations and attraction to her. Their chemistry is sizzling, and their intimate moments are described with vivid, unapologetic detail. However, the initial setup is followed by a series of rapid developments that at times feel too convenient or underexplored.

The pacing is uneven, with a long opening chapter setting the stage before the plot accelerates at breakneck speed. While the dramatic climax and Fourth of July proposal are romantic and sweet, the resolution feels rushed and leaves little time to savor the characters’ emotional growth or the deepening of their relationship.

Despite these shortcomings, *Naughty Girls Do* has its strengths. Redford’s writing is unapologetically sexy, and the story delivers on its promise of kink and passion. Fans of steamy romances who enjoy a mix of heat and humor may appreciate the dynamic between Lexie and Ash. However, readers seeking a more nuanced or evenly paced narrative might find the rushed ending less satisfying.

*Naughty Girls Do* delivers plenty of heat, but its pacing and conclusion could have used a bit more time to shine.

!! Read With CAUTION, Spoiler Warning !!

I quite enjoyed reading this book. It is a super short but easy read. I would say it is your typical friend to lovers but really it wasn't. There was also a bad boy turned good and good girl turned bad themes as well.

I do like that it wasn't just about sex for the two main characters. They both lusted over each other for years at the minimum. Ash seemed to already be "adopted" into Lexis's family already, so them officially becoming a couple seemed a little weird.

Also I get that because it is such a short book that an instant love connection is expected but I did think the ending was a little rushed. Within a week if that they went from friends repressing the lust that they have for each other to sleeping together to then having a falling out because one of them wanted something more than the other to then being engaged.

I would recommend this book if you are looking for something quick and easy read with a little bit of heat added in to make it more interesting.

Lexi and Axl was...interesting to say the least.

Lexi sounded in the beginning like a small town hypocrite. Horny for the bad boy Axl which owned his own tattoo parlor while she held down a librarian job.🤔 She has been wanting to get with this guy since she was fifteen. Now twelve years later at twenty-seven she doesn't want to take no for an answer. Who in the world with botj people in their late twenties act the way they do is beyond me, but I started getting a "little house on the prairie" type vibe to the town they lived in. Axl wasn't this bad boy after all. He sounds sexy as hell, but all gooey over Lexi. The story was short and sweet and super fast. I'd read it again though.

Let’s be real.. She manipulated him. Throughout the whole ordeal. Turning up to his work to suggest she wanted a piercing, which led to him being in a position where she begged him to get her off. Going along with her friend to make him jealous. Getting him to take her to the cabins. Skinny dipping. And then throwing a fit when he wasn’t ready to commit after less than 24 hours of all this manipulation and some sex.

All this in 66 pages…

I am dark romance girlie, so this stuff normally wouldn’t make me bat an eye. But in a short span, with a rollercoaster of thoughts and feelings from the two MCs, and just the immaturity of the FMC… it’s overwhelming and overstimulating.

~~~
Trope(s): Contemporary. Romance. Friends-to-lovers.
Trigger Warnings: Angst. Third act breakup.
“Naughty Girls Do” is a fun, steamy read, but it doesn’t stray far from familiar territory. The premise (a broody bad-boy tattoo artist and the girl he swears is off limits) had all the makings of a guilty pleasure read. The banter was playful, the chemistry was there, and the spice level definitely kept things interesting.
That said, the plot was pretty predictable. If you’ve read a few bad-boy-meets-good-girl romances, you’ll probably see most of the twists coming a mile away. Still, Jodi Redford’s easy writing style makes it a quick, enjoyable escape when you just want something light, sexy, and not too demanding.
Bottom line: not groundbreaking, but if you’re in the mood for a familiar trope done with heat and a touch of sass, this will scratch the itch.
Sweet Friends to Lovers Romance
Lexi has been in love with her best friend Ash since she was 15. Now that they are older, she wants to finally make a move to have a relationship beyond friendship. Ash has purposefully kept Lexi off limits, but that hasn't stopped him from wanting her. But now she wants him and his resistance is slipping quickly.
This is a short romance that packs in friendship, love, heart break and a makeup all in less that 70 pages. The story was good, the scenes were steamy enough, but the problem I had was how fast their relationship moved. It was a bit much in the end, but the story was still sweet.
Lexi Winters wants to get pierced (literally !!!!!!)
Her friend Grace dares her (Ms. Wussarrella- love a good nickname) to get pierced by the hot tattoo shop owner Ash Bodry in the land down under.
He's deliciously hot and with a bad boy rep whats not to like?
At his shop where she bravely announces her plans, Ash is thrown for a loop and starts to sweat! Let the games of crazy school girl seduction begin
The cute banter and two sided pov's was just the right amount of hot and intense but still fun and heartwarming.
A ‘good girl’ chasing a ‘bad boy’ storyline. Alexis just wants to have her sought after bad boy from her teenage years to be hers. He’s hesitant because her father is a sheriff…she puts forth effort and he remains skeptical until… 🤫
While this was a short story, I felt the storyline could have used more backstory in certain aspects. I truly enjoyed the quick approach to the smut though! The authors storyline was good and could have been improved by adding more descriptions that would allow the reader to get more emotionally involved.
