Here are 32 short stories that take place in the Jamie Brodie Mysteries universe, most of them never previously published. Spanning from 1974-2017, the stories tell of first dates, first loves, and first meetings of lifelong friends.
I started reading mysteries where a lot of us started - with Nancy Drew. I graduated to Agatha Christie, then P.D. James. My new favorite is Peter Lovesey.
I've had the characters of Jamie Brodie and Pete Ferguson in my head for a long time, but just recently figured out how to tell their stories. Jamie is an academic librarian because I'm an academic librarian and it's the world I know best.
What made this most enjoyable was that it was built up of small glimpses of our favourite characters without the need to give them a reason for doing what they were doing. This whole collection fits in quite nicely with my love of domestic moments, little tidbits that just show the characters living their day to day lives.
It was like reading fanfic of your favourite series. Actually, at one point it literally was. Highly recommend anyone reading the Jamie Brodie books to check this one out.
