Genevieve is now the oldest sister left at home, caring for her family. However, when her father remarries, bringing a new woman and her children into the home, her life is turned upside down. As she struggles to accept the role her stepmother has taken in the family, she comes face to face with someone from long ago she never thought to see again.
Joel has made mistakes in his life and wants to make things right. After being left to care for his younger siblings when he was still a young man himself, he made some decisions he regrets. When he tries to repay his debt to Genevieve, he realizes he might never be able to get forgiveness from everyone.
What will happen when secrets from the past come to light threatening to tear families and friendships apart?
I enjoyed reading the third story in the Carter Sisters series that is a heartfelt and emotional story. Each book in this series will read as a stand-alone, but I would enjoy you to read each one in their written order. It takes the reader on a journey of family, friends, loss, new beginnings, acceptance, and forgiveness.
The story is not preachy, or religious based, but it is human-based of feelings and emotions. I am extremely impressed with each story that this young teen author has penned, and I have bragged to others about her insight and telling of a story. She is able to bring her characters to life and allow the reader to escape into her tale and envision the surrounding area, people, and to feel their emotions. Life can be harsh, people die, people leave, and people come into our lives, and all that makes up the story of our life.
Genevieve Carter is the oldest of the Carter sisters still living at home along with Lydia and Hazel. Her two older sisters, Adeline and Darlene, are married with families of their own. Genevieve is still grieving the loss of her mother, even though many years have passed and she is having a hard time accepting the marriage of her Pa, Lawrence, to a widow, Frieda, that came with two annoying stepbrothers, Douglas and Bradley.
“I’m forced to climb into a wagon with two boys I can’t stand and a stepmother I somewhat tolerate but can’t quite get over the fact that she’s replacing my ma.”
The plot will have Joel Adams come back into her life after five years. Joel was the teenage boy who tried to steal their wheat out of desperation, dealing with a father who abandoned his family, a mother dying, and three siblings counting on him for support. Just a teenage kid himself, he was desperate, and one bad decision will affect his future, especially with the Carter family.
“Running from your problems never turns out. And if you continue, you’ll get yourself into a lot of trouble.”
Joel Adams has matured, he is still taking care of his siblings, but he is a man now, and takes his responsibilities seriously. Seeing Genevieve Adams at church comes as a shock to both of them. Being bold and speaking to her begins a new found friendship that will change from friends to two people falling in love. But what happens when her father finds out? Can forgiveness for an act of desperation be granted? Will this be the end of two people falling in love? Maybe it is time for Genevieve and her Pa to have an open, honest, heart-to-heart discussion.
“See this is how I like our family to be—looking out for one another. I’m glad we’ve finally reached this point.”
“I realized I’ve been missing out on a happy life full of amazing people. I also realize that sometimes people are going to walk out of my life on purpose, and other times they will leave unintentionally. At the end of the day, though, it’s about being strong and loving the people in your life, because one day, they too could be gone. And sometimes, people leave to make room for someone else to come in.”
Morgan Dawson has done a fabulous job writing about The Carter sisters. The title of this book threw me at first glance because I knew there wasn't a sister called Daisy. I am so thankful all of her books are in the Kindle Unlimited library and I have been able to read them in order. You have to read this one to find out why she called it "The Daisy". I have enjoyed each book thoroughly.
I read The Daisy through the Kindle Unlimited program. The Daisy by Morgan Dawson is another excellent book in the Carter Sister series. It not only a clean, sweet romance but also weave a message of forgiveness through it. This book had the emotional impact that all her books do. I can not wait to see what is young author does next.
It is a wonderful read... It is a perfect read with the perfect plot, characters and style of writing. Just simply LOVED IT... It shows the hardships of a young lady as she aspects the death of her mother and her father's remarriage. In my opinion it's just amazingly fantastically awesome. Should read it.
I live these kind of books. Refreshing. Sweet romance. All the problems a normal family faces when joking two families together after deaths of a spouse.
