Things could be worse for NYPD cop, Madison Knox. Okay, so her mother abandoned her as a girl to live with her crazy aunt and uncle who are tribute artists, performing as Twisted Mister and Little Sister. So what if her perverted cousin Mojo is moving into her basement apartment and has a habit of showing up naked in her shower? What does it matter that Madison’s best friend Amy is a Jersey girl with raging hormones on the rebound from the world’s worst marriage? Things could be a lot worse...like Madison could agree to save on rent by moving into the caretaker’s quarters of a Brooklyn cemetery with Amy and Max, a fellow officer, where they meet a cast of characters that could literally raise the dead.
Come to think of it, maybe things can’t get any worse, especially when Madison and her friends form a secret crime fighting club and are determined to take down a sex trafficking ring, find a man who has ties to a drug cartel, and learn the truth about what happened to her long-lost mother.
Brooklyn Blue, the first book in the Madison Knox Mystery Series, has more twists and turns than an out of control subway train.
WARNING: This series contains adult language and laugh out loud situations, not for the faint of heart! If you think you can handle Madison’s crazy life, order Brooklyn Blue today.

a police officer wrongfully on the ropes shows her mettle while dealing with personal challenges. Madison is demoted to a precinct for losers. On the upside, she moves into a cemetery caretaker's home with some friends. The rent savings are offset by the creepy undertaker and proximity of frozen corpses. But Madison quickly becomes involved in the cases of two missing persons.
This is a fast fun read. The first part is funny and the humor seemed incongruent with the serious themes of human trafficking, child exploitation and organized crime. But the levity diminishes in the second half as it becomes more procedural (though not particularly believable). Still, it is a romp with some clever characters and wit to lighten up some otherwise gruesome doings.
'Brooklyn Blue' was a great start to what looks like a great series. The story line was intriguing. The way it played out was full of action and great scenarios. The characters were a great combination of personalities. Madison makes a great lead. I like that she's not perfect and she does seem to attract a bit of trouble. Amy and Max make great friends and allies to Madison. They cracked me up. The humor was awesome. I look forward to reading more of this series.
Luckily this was a fast read; otherwise I'd be mourning the time lost reading it. The premise was okay, it's just that there was nothing about it that was even slightly believable. I rate it 3 stars for creativity.
This is my first exposure to the author and this series. I liked the mystery and the characters. There were moments of humor and suspense. I'm sold on this author and look forward to the next installment.
This is different than his other series of which I read all 26 books. A little too many plots going on at once and not sure if if I like that so only 4 stars for now will see how I like book 2.
