"Welcome to the 2017 Free Comic Book Day Doctor Who Spectacular!
The Doctor has only just started travelling with a new companion, Bill, a young human woman from present-day Earth – and we join them now at the start of an all-new adventure!"
The Doctor was friend of an alien being named Plex, which shares some things in common like being long-living species and the last one of their own species (with The Doctor is a blurry area that but still…).
Plex didn’t like to be lonely (who would?) so, he cloned himself to populate a new world and with the assistance of certain piece of technology from The Doctor (I won’t spoil) he was able to accomplish the task, and while Plex was quite satisfied with his work, he knew that he won’t be able to keep an eye on his new people, not matter how long-living was he, sooner or later, death will catch him, but he knows that The Doctor is certainly someone hard to kill and with the TARDIS, he can “cheat” even when he wouldn’t be around anymore,...
...so Plex asked The Doctor to watch out his people and make the hard calls if they would have a chance to evolve as a society.
The Twelfth Doctor takes Bill Potts, his new-brand companion to the world of Plex, and while Bill have objections about the road that The Doctor took to “help” Plex’s people, it seems that the difficult decisions made in the past, have served to give to Plex’s people a way to mature…
…and so The Doctor tells the tale to Bill…
…about his interventions with Plex and his people in the past; the Ninth Doctor (just regenerated and travelling alone yet); the Eleventh Doctor, along his companions Gabriella (Gabby) Gonzalez & Cindy Wu; and the Eleventh Doctor, along with his companions, Alice Obiefune & The Sapling…
…since after all, leading a whole new species into the painful process of social evolution isn’t an easy task, like to be done by one single regeneration of The Doctor.
The story’s development isn’t that awesome, but several of the dialogues due it’s impact of how society works, certainly it gave a lot of strength to the comic book.
It's alright for a freebie but I don't think I'll be reading any more Doctor Who free comic books because I think they need to be longer in order to tell a better story. I read every panel of this but I still feel like I'm missing something. A bit more explanation would have been nice. Also, while Bill and Twelve were well-drawn and easily recognisable, I think the other Doctors weren't as well defined.
A free comic book I downloaded through Google Play Books. I am a fan of time travel stories and Doctor Who is about time travel. I was little bit disappointed when story ended in 20 pages with a cliffhanger. The writer is Alex Paknadel and superb artwork by illustrators Mariano Laclaustra, Pier Brito & Nico Selma.
A freebie Kindle download, a short comic story of the most recent Doctor and Bill. Fun and a quick, it was over too soon - although, what do you expect for a freebie comic. I did enjoy the little references to the appearance of previous Doctors and it reminded me I'm going to miss Capaldi - if not the guitar or the stupid sunglasses.
I found this for free on Kindle Store so decided to give it a read. Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much from it at all, and I was right to. At least, for fans of Doctor Who this is likely a really good read but I haven't been a fan for quite a while.
I really loved The Doctor and Bill's humour and I might actually watch Capaldi's seasons after reading this but that's pretty much it.
As an Eccleston fan, I'm happy to see his doctor in this, and also to see Tennant's and Smith's but all in all this wasn't for me.
A good read, some nice art, a simple story line but ultimately, not for me.
This was a poignant little comic and quite an ambitious story to tackle in a free comic book. I wasn't sure how they were going to handle a multiple Doctor story in so little space but what we got was a surprising effort that was quite well done. Instead of a crossover with the Doctor encountering himself many times, we instead get a much longer-term story that spans different iterations of the Doctor, and that's where the real brilliance lies.
This was neat traveling thru time and space in the tardis. I t was simple to understand, cool to read, fun to look at. I am going to read more in this series. Read and enjoy!
I like what they did this time compared to the previous 2 and how they incorporated the different regenerations of the doctor within one story rather than telling 3 mini-stories for each one of them. I liked the first 2 still, but I prefer it this way.
It's Doctor Who - loved it. The fact that it was a graphic book made it all the more interesting. I'm catching up on all my old Whovian/Torchwood material books as we close in on series 11.
Good start to a series that I think I will continue with. Loved the fact that it referenced the ninth, tenth and eleventh doctors. Really good basis for the series to continue
