Psychic Cree Blue is working on a cold case where the motives and suspects multiply like the spices in her cooking. When Davina Richards went missing the day before her wedding, people assumed she was a runaway bride. Only Cree knows differently. This bride skipped being a missing person and landed smack-dab in the dead zone. One thing is certain; the ghostly apparition is out to set the record straight and needs Cree’s help.
Chock full of more guarded mystery than the Colonel’s secret recipe, the case of the deadly vows is Cree’s toughest cold case yet. She’ll have to rely on more than her intuition and insight if she wants to solve this mystery.
It’s no longer a question of who wanted to silence the bride; it’s a matter of which one pulled the trigger.
Davina and Logan were about to marry - until the bride disappears! Cree Blur, Psychic, helps to track down the bride and the conspiracy that surrounds her! Good Book 2
The second book in the series was another good one. This time Cree is for sure she can't be with the cop she met in the previous one, one because he is avoiding her, and when she learns out the reasons why things seem to fall into place. But there is another man who seems to want her attention, but he is hiding thins as well.
She must do her best to help figure out who the murderer is before it is too late.
I really enjoyed this one a lot, and I look forward to more in the series now. I loved the plot line, and I felt bad for Cree at times when it came to men. She just can't catch a break.
Cree Blue is a psychic whose specialty is cold cases. Every now and again, though, she steps out of the box and gets a real live one. Times like now.
Cree is called on to look for a runaway bride. It doesn't take her long to discover her whereabouts and that the bride is involved with something more sinister than getting cold feet before the wedding.
Cree is smart, cute, witty, and a lot of fun to read. Throw a man into the mix, in this case, West Archer, who has a secret story of his own, and you've got one very cool story.
The book is short, easy to read, entertaining, and keeps you guessing as to who did what. I read it in just a few hours. I love this series.
By the way, this book can be read as a standalone novel even if it is part of a series. Another definite plus.
One more side note and I'll quit. I promise! I hope to find out more about West Archer as the series continues.
*I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review
I could not wait to read this book. This is a stand-alone novel. It is, however part of a series. Each book is a story of its own. There is a larger story that is taking place throughout the series. There is humor, romance, action, and adventure. This is a story that brings some more of the characters together. There are also some characters from the first book that are "fleshed out". The senator's daughter shows up in this book and West Archer's character is defined a little more. I am excitedly waiting for the next book. I hope that this series lasts longer than these three books. I am curious about her relationship with West. I would also like to see her solve some more cold cases in her hometown and hear more from her grandmother. Like I said I hope this series lasts longer than these three books. You should read this book, you won't be disappointed. This is a pretty clean romance. Kate keep 'em coming.
This is the second book in the series, and although it could be read as a standalone, it works better when read in order.
Cree Blue is a psychic, a southern belle, and a baker. When she starts to work on her next case, featuring a missing woman, she woman is dead. With a mystery that leads from politicians, to movie stars and rock stars, Cree sets out to solve her case.
This is a fun, cosy mystery series, with a quirky heroine, who is definitely full of character. The cast of characters is as quirky as the heroine, and the mystery will remind you of something Nancy Drew might have solved. That’s not a bad thing by the way... I loved Nancy Drew as a kid! 😉 Ghostly helpers, visions and clairvoyance round out Cree’s psychic abilities, and make the story just a step away from urban fantasy. If you enjoy cosy paranormal mystery books, then this is a series to enjoy!
I really enjoy this series finished two books in a day and started the third one . I like the storyline and the characters . The reason for rating the books 4 stars only is the editing….part of the story is from heroines point of view then when it’s time for the male character to have his point of view is actually told from a third person pov..ok that’s not that bad if there weren’t mistakes like … third persons pov then you read :” I will “ she smiled waved and sat down next to me…until that moment everything was from the narrator’s pov..I’ve read it three times to make sure I’ve read right..then next line after this : “ coffee , this late ? “ he asked…again reread it a few times to make sure I’m not reading wrong …this happened in the first two books as well …it’s confusing and makes you go back to reread and make sure you didn’t miss something .
The mystery was a little boring. What I like most are the people interactions, so I'll overlook it.
I was really liking West, but there were two things that gave me pause in this book. His inner monologue regarding a waitress while waiting for Cree to arrive. He said any other time he'd have gotten the waitresses number, she was just his type. To me it diminished his potential to be a great love for Cree. Don't know why the author felt the need to add it. Secondly, up until two weeks ago he was involved with another woman and she cheated on him. He didn't break it off because he wanted to. That I don't like. It's going to make me think he's settling with Cree. Ugh. I had high hopes for him.
But I'm going to continue on because I'm a sucker for psychic mystery books.
This is the second installment in the Cree Blue Psychic Eye Series and I just loved it. I loved it even more than the first book. Love triangle no more...hoping a dear Lord will win over Cree's heart. The mystery on this one has a great twist of events and Cree comes out shining on top. There are some haters that give her some slack, but she is strong and her bravery shows no bounds.
This book has a mix of flirtatious fun, smart ass snarky behavior and danger galore. The characters are interesting and highly entertaining. I just love Freddie and Faraday. Cree is a unique and cool character full of southern charm and trouble. So grab a glass of sweet tea and a cookie and settle in to read a great mystery of the who done it proportions.
Coffee guzzling, 'I'm not a morning person' Cree Blue is a psychic who works with the police to solve cold cases. If that isn't interesting enough, she shares her plantation with a multitude of ghosts, a nearly retired police detective and an ex-mobster. Together they begin to solve the murder of Divina, fiance to Senator Channing's son. This journey leads to a private island resort and the discovery of who stole a billion dollars worth of museum coins and where the coins are, along with who murdered Divina.
I am loving this series by Kate Allenton! As a overly critical book snob, it is hard for me to find books that make me smile and think 'that was worth my time,' but this series checks that box. Cree is confident and self assured, but had a heart of gold. I love that she has flaws that make sense and add to her character. The romantic interests come and go from the story in a way that is almost realistic The plot is engaging and entertaining to read. Top it all off with the rare gems of being clean and smut-free. Kudos, Ms Allenton, on a job well done.
Disappearing brides to be and coins are all in a days work for her.
Terrific second book that is as good as the first. A missing bride to be and stolen coins bring danger and action into her life. Will she discover what really happened and why? Will this case throw her full into the public eye as she has enough trouble after getting the Mob boss out of jail? Great fast paced plot with another surprising ending that will have you devouring the book in one sitting. Plus the extra romantic aspects make this a really enjoyable read. Terrific
Cree is back in the second book of the series and it's just as good as the first book! I am hooked on this series. I just love the writer's style. Conversations flow naturally, the characters are well developed and interesting, and the story is good without being too much. The did is done well and as with any good series, readers get a resolution to the immediate case to be solved but left wanting more. The characters make an interesting team and each fills a unique role in the story. I'm off to read the next book in the series.
I have been provided with a copy of Deadly Vows by the author for an impartial review. This is the second book in the Cree Blue Psychic Eye Mystery series and I really enjoyed getting to be transported back to the world of Cree Blue and getting to see characters that I have fallen in love with. This book was just as great as the first one it had me guessing at what was going to happen next. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Cree picks the cold case of Divina and the missing coins. Cree watches Divina tell Logan she needs to running errand then her being shot in back and fall into the water below. She doesn't see who shot her. She gets West to get them an invite to a party. Freddie insists on going, West hides him on the island. She has a lot to figure out this time, intriguing. Great story and characters, loved the ending.
She had me until she showed a total misunderstanding of how the British monarchy works. Seriously, this is a fun romp. I'd prefer Cree not do so many forest gump-like celebrity saves, but the non royalty surrounding her make for sweet relationships-- friendships, mentoring (tho I'd love to see her actually helping the poor guy who sees ghosts,) and sidekicks.
I received an ARC of Deadly Vows from the author Kate Allenton and have chosen to review it. Deadly Vows is the second book in the new series A Cree Blue Psychic Eye Mystery and we are back to see what is going on with Cree and her friends. This series just keeps getting better and better and they are just so funny. I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to read the next book.
I'm obsessed with these books. It's almost a television series that I want to binge watch. A "runaway" bride cold case ends up turning into a who-done-it mystery that left my brain in tangles. I liked this book. However, there were so many characters that I sometimes had a hard time remembering who was who. Doesn't change my love for it or for reading the next in the series!
I love Cree Blue! She’s smart, beautiful, has a sense of humor and she can bake! All that and she talks to dead people. This particular story takes Cree out of her comfort zone into the world of money, celebrities, fancy clothes and snobs. She’s up for it however, with hunky West Archer by her side. If you liked book 1, you will love this one as well.
I like the characters and the stoty is good. It does not depend on namedropping designer clothes or sex two minutes after meeting. Everyone isn't dropdead gorgeous. I enjoy reading a book that doesn't depend on these cliched props. The people feel real, even those who are famous or politically powerful.
Another excellent installment of the Cree Blue series. These books are easy to read, interesting from page one and fun. There is plenty of paranormal, both in the form of ghosts and Cree's ability to tap into her psychic abilities. This is a great book in a great series, and I highly recommend both. I can't wait to read Ms. Allenton's next book in this series.
I'm addicted to this series. I love the humor and the plots. I hate what happens with Mason, but am interested to see where her love life takes her. Cree is printmaking some high powered friends, while making enemies of everyone else it seems.
A short, quick read. More novella length than full-novel length, but once again, just the right length to tell the story. Likable characters, an interesting mystery, and good writing make for a fun read.
I like the characters, but the story never gets really exciting... what is happening... oh, now I know who the killer is... my life is momentarily in danger... and I'm saved and then the book is over...
Wow! I am loving this series! It is full of wonderful characters and intriguing stories. I am binge reading this series and I can't put it down! This story involves the ghost of a 'missing' bride and puts Cree in the middle of a Snooty High Society Political Fund Raiser with a movie star, an actor, the President's Son's Fiancee and more!
The opening chapter removes the love triangle and focuses on the new romantic interest. This felt off. Why bother with Mason in book one? This felt more accidental discovery than actual physical work.
Cannot sleep. Discovered an amazing author, and now I am stuck because I cannot put her work down! Love this series, love the flow. The ride is amazing!! Highly recommend !!!
Again, Ms. Allenton grabbed my attention with her wit, her attention to detail and her unfailing intrigue. Kept me guessing Ang intrigued in this delightful tale with her ghosts. Thank you MS Allenton!
Book 2 takes Cree to a private island while trying to solve the murder of a girl who’s body she found. I enjoy the way the characters are written- like you feel like you know them. So excited to have a new series!
