When Peter and Sheriff Stilinski decide to adopt a child, they meet a little girl named Malia, whose parents were murdered. But when Stiles starts looking into who killed them, he finds a lot of unanswered questions.
It’s been too long since I’ve read Together We Build, and though some details of what’s gone on in the last 3 installments were a little hazy, I was sucked back into this wonderful AU that KouriArashi has created with relative ease.
The sheriff and Peter are together now, and they want to adopt. Admittedly, this got off to a bit of a slow start, but once Stiles begins investigating his new sister’s parents’ death, things pick up and devolve quickly as more and more truths are brought to light.
What ensues is an intricate plot featuring just how far the bad guys will go and how Stiles’s genius unravels the scary facts. This is smart stuff, and I’m reminded how impressive this author is when it comes to the finer details and wrapping up plot threads all in a plausible way that never follows the easy way out. Peter and the sheriff continue to do what they do best and that’s shine in the ways that makes them so damn good at their jobs and being who they are to the very core. They don’t always mesh or agree but always find a way to somehow fit perfectly despite their differences.
Satisfying and romantic regarding both Peter/sheriff and Stiles/Derek with touches of canon elements that seamlessly blend in, I thoroughly enjoyed this revisit to a beloved series. Luckily, I have another installment that awaits my attention!
This was good although it was interesting that Stiles takes more of a bake seat in this one. I do absolutely love the sheriff and Peter so I never mind them having a more prominent role and the addition of Malia is adorbs.
It’s interesting that this book answers an inconsistency that bothered me in the second book, I wonder if that was always the arc or just how it developed as the author figured things out. Anyway, I like where the characters ended up and will get right to the next/last one hoping we’ll still get more eventually!
