Tony lives in the Ozark Mountains with his wife, two girls, and thankfully no ghosts haunting their home, just the stories sent into them every day.
I really enjoy this podcast (although some of the stories are dubious, but the podcast operates on the basis that people are telling the truth). I love hearing people's ghost stories. But in this book I was actually hoping to hear a little more about Tony and Jenny themselves - maybe the next book?
I did receive this book as a give away from the publisher. Because it was free, I hate to write a bad review, but really, I am glad I did not pay for this book. The stories were not really scary and most were told by people who said that they has lots of experience with the supernatural world. It would have been more realistic to see more written by skeptics. It was unbelievable that so many people wrote about staying in a haunted house and being terrified but staying anyhow for no reason .
Some of these were genuinely creepy. Others were so outlandish I seriously doubt they are real. One problem with a radio show is that anyone can call in, even if they are mentally unstable or just seeking attention. I feel certain that some of these stories were made up.
But the book did entertain me. I would give it three and a half stars- not quite good enough for four, but I don't regret that I picked it up.
0 stars. 10/10 Do not recommend. "written" by podcasters who clearly dont know how to write. the "stories" told about hauntings sounded like a bunch of hogwash, not to mention boring.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. Opinions shared are mine.
I haven’t listened to the authors’ podcast yet, but it sounds like a whole lot of fun. The stories in this book are entertaining. Since they’re submitted by “real” people, the stories are written in an authentic manner. They’re not polished and edited. In a way, that makes the stories seem more genuine and believable. In another way, it also makes them hard to read because they jump around so much. Some of the details might make you roll your eyes a little. It's a good source of firsthand accounts of ghost stories, especially if you're looking for some that you haven't read before.
This was a very interesting collection of stories. I did not realize that the author was also a podcaster, but the stories at least held my attention.
If you want a few stories that will make you roll your eyes, some that make the hair on your arm stand up - and a couple that I am sure were completely false - you may enjoy this book.
I read in small stages over vacation, but there was nothing that made me want to sleep with the lights on, and some just sounded fake.
I love reading about paranormal topics but I am very skeptical. I was hoping these would be "true" stories of weird events that happened to normal people but they were so outlandish and ridiculous all I could do was roll my eyes.
This book is a collection of stories many of which have been shared on their Ghost Stories podcast and some that are not. While there are brief introductions, the stories speak for themselves and the witness accounts are powerful indeed. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audio book. It was narrated by the author. He has been gifted with an amazing voice, perfectly complementing the book and and wonderful, relatable source of comfort in the podcast as well. I highly recommend the audio version of this, as it stands on it's own. His rich voice relating the tales will keep you enthralled. A superb book that needs a follow up. I will definitely be checking out the podcast as well.
I listen to this podcast most days and many of the stories are familiar. It’s a place for those who have been affected or have an interest t find out more without being judged.
I love the Real Ghost Stories Online podcast and this book was a good read! The authors chose great stories to include and I will say I’ve had a couple of sleepless nights because I read right before bed. Very enjoyable book if you like to all things paranormal.
I love a good personal ghost story but these really could’ve used an editor to make them more concise and readable. I got bogged down a bit because it started to become a chore and less fun. After all, this is not high literature.
Wow, I totally enjoyed each and every ghost story in this book. Being told by real people had at a Special Touch. I most definitely plan to recommended book to all ghosts story lovers.
If you're looking to start off the spooky season with terrifying tales of real ghost stories then do I have the book for you. These stories are guaranteed to keep you up at night and will have you wanting to sleep with every light in your house on.
This was such an interesting read, it distracted me from what I was supposed to be reading. I found it to be entertaining and easy to read. I recommend all paranormal enthusiasts to give this a read.
Spooky and fascinating, but the best part is that the stories are true! An excellent read for fans of the podcast or anyone with an interest in the paranormal.
I love reading ghost stories. Be it fictionalized accounts, or supposedly true tales. This book was a great collection of some firsthand experiences. I loved every minute of it.
