In a Heartbeat touches the darkest, loneliest places of a grieving parent’s heart. This book reveals the true-life experiences of the author’s personal journey through grief, hope, and healing following the stillbirth of her little girl. Within these pages you will find: • Understanding and empathy • A sense of companionship and friendship • Courage to face holidays and difficult occasions • Reassurance of God’s loving kindness • The life-changing hope of heaven. If you have suffered the tragic loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death, this book was written especially for you. Or share it with a friend or loved one in their time of need. It says what only someone who has been there can say.
Aside from one essay where Waltman softens the sovereignty of God, the book is excellent. A little over four years ago, my husband and I lost our second child to a miscarriage. In the midst of our grief, a friend gifted me this book. I'm not sure why it took me so long to read it when I read another book about grief at that time. Even four years later, In a Heartbeat is a balm.
Many years ago I read this book after a very difficult miscarriage. "In A Hearbeat gave me permission to grieve my loss, and to remember my precious baby who passed too soon. It helped me to see that although parents experience a loss together they may each grieve differently and that is okay. When I read her story it helped to know that I was not alone in grief and someone understood what I was going through. And it gave me hope to conceive again. If you had a miscarriage this book will help you and give you comfort as you grieve.
Beautifully written. This was everything for someone who wasn’t sure how to say or express the grief of loosing a baby. I have tear stained pages on my copy. Thank you for writing this.
