Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance. A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking. She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm. A.D. uses she/they pronouns. A bunch of gay male romances, some with bisexual men having their first gay experience. I had already read two of the stories, but I had forgotten one and read it again. I found them to be too drawn out, taking a simple idea and stretching it into a novel. Some stories featured excessive drama. I skimmed quite a bit, but did notice an extensive discussion of butt plugs in one story. Good thing I skipped that part. Sentence structure is abysmal. Often two sentences are mashed together, separated only by a comma or question mark followed by an lower-case word. Sometimes a single sentence is split by a period then an upper-case word. There were also a few random extra words thrown into sentences. Homophone errors: phased for fazed, trouped (not a word) for trooped, wracked (archaic) for racked, blonde (feminine) for blond, laid for lay, your for you're. Also some I/me, quick/quickly, easier/more easily errors. In one place the narrator (Braeton) refers to himself by name instead of saying "I." Apostrophe S is used as a plural for CO, and a page or so later the same term is pluralized correctly. The name Rafferty is also pluralized with an apostrophe S.
Wow this series is great, I really loved that each book is different though all are M/M genre. Each covers issues with the Gay lifestyle, be it not accepted by family/friends, having children, being bi-sexual. All are handled with understanding and sympathy, while allowing the reader to grasp the true problems that are real life issues and prejudice that follow those trying to find happiness and acceptance. There is suspense in one or two of the books, loss/grief, and lots more. Plenty of reading and I found them all interesting, some a little sad in places but mostly inspirational in lots of ways. Each character pulled at my heart with the struggles they faced, the risks of rejection and the longing for love. There is sexual content and a lot of it is explicit, so if you aren't accepting of M/M then these are not for you. I will be looking at more books by this author since I really enjoyed them all.
I liked this box set with 6 standalone books about different topics and very different peoples. Some books are better than others but overall it’s a very good 4 stars. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Good dialogues Characters is well described and developed in to realistic personalities that made it easy to relate to the stories. ( I’m not a man or gay but life issues can be the same for all people) The love scenes is hot and sweet The secondary characters is also well implemented in the story I like the writing style of this author, the stories are flowing easily and progresses to a naturally happy ending.
If you like good, sweet and hot mm romance you’re getting a lot for your money in this. I recommend!
this author is brilliant for bringing real life situations into their stories. Yes it's easy to be mad at Jase for the way he went about things... unless you understand what he went through. Then you don't feel anger at him but anger at his parents that he was brainwashed into believing a certain way. That's hard to break from. Don't judge unless you've been there. That doesn't just apply to lgbt+, it also applies to interracial relationships - het or lgbt+. I'm glad this author decided to keep it real. it's uncommon and greatly appreciated. highly recommend and a special thanks to the author for being real even when it's uncomfortable. I'm angry the author even felt the need to apologize for the first book in this series. They are an amazing author and shouldn't feel the need to apologize for that.
Thought the characters could have better developed. And the story line needed some help as each family dealt with its own issues of grief — one family mourning the loss of a husband and father, and the other family grieving the alcoholic, party-holic, totally absent mother who demonized her husband, her boys, her home life and herself. For that she would spend some time in jail. What a way to go!
Though there is not a direct relationship between all the MCs in this series, reading them together works great. Each book focuses on one couple and their life like struggles, whether it's a change in a relationship, custody, death, or accepting themselves. There is heat, humor, and great characters.
If your looking for romance books with characters in that aren't over the top and have problems that anyone can identify with, look no further. Seriously, these books run you through all the emotions and end on an uplifting note. Give this series a try, I'm certain you'll fall in love. P.S. Bring the tissues you may need them, but it's soo worth it.
A very interesting collection of stories of men finding the one who is right for them. Though the attraction between the main characters in each story may be quite strong the route to get to the destination is fraught with missteps or obstacles both emotional and physical. Some of the stories build on characters from other volumes while others do not, but the theme of the series remains.
A nice mix of romance tropes. Several of the stories interconnect. It's fun to see Cthullu hats and Gen Con playing significant roles in the plot. I especially appreciate the author acknowledging that characters don't always do what the author wants!
Awesome book. This book was a page turner that I just couldn't stop reading until the end.I had absolutely loved this book.I would highly recommend this book.
These are good quick reads but a little too cheesey for me. The characters are likeable, if a little corny. I did enjoy the stories though. There were some very good moments. I just wish they went a little deeper and the characters were a little more fleshed out.
So good that I started reading it for a second time....read for about an hour before I realized I had already read it. Proves that the story is captivating.
Bryan and Jase-4 stars-Bryan and Jase have an affair before Bryan leaves the military, then reconnect, but Jase is now looking after his son and needs his family, so he’s not out. Eventually, he realizes he needs a new start, and once he finds Bryan, they meet the challenges together.
Brody and Nick-2 stars-Nick and Brody like each other, and hatch a plan to save money by living together using the military housing allowance by getting married. Throughout their marriage, they fall in love, but Brody mistakenly thinks he has to go away to college to prove he can do it on his own. He finally realizes his home is with Nick and they can make things work together. Strange having Addies involvement and getting away with fraud.
Ivan and Barrett-3 stars-there’s an edge to this story, with Barrett and Lexi hiding out from the mob while Ivan serves time for killing Lexi’s abusive boyfriend. Now, he’s home, and their relationship can blossom, but Ivan has scars from prison and Barrett is sheltered and inexperienced. The best part is his disastrous 5 dates with other guys.
Breaton and Drew-2 stars-though I understand Braeton wanting to make sure Drew isn’t put off by his fabulous flamboyance, he intentionally knew Drew wouldn’t be accepted at the bar they went to, whereas Drew didn’t know about his feelings against the down home cooking date. But, it was interesting when he messed up again, how they got out of the MC club hangout, and their relationship developing anyway.
