There it is. I knew it! Now why isn't it on GR?????? I'm more than 100% positive that I posted it. Oh well. It's here now. This was a book I read last year and was thinking about because there's a new collection coming out soon. Yay!!!!! And let me say that I am super excited about all the contributing authors....Ok I'll stop but feel free to check out my review for this book below and get ready for the Destination Romances: Resort Collection. Woot Woot!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Talk about some intrigue, sweet and spicy romance (clean), mystery and laying it all on the line. Yep this was a fantastic read that had me hooked from the beginning. To be honest, I've actually been anticipating this one for a little while after reading the beginning of Layla and Tyler's story in the book Kiss Me in the Moonlight. There was not a lot of page time for these two in that book but definitely enough that had me hoping and wishing that Layla and Tyler would have another appearance with lots of page time. This is part of the Destined for Love series and the destination this time is Mansions. So get ready for 6 new novellas all featured at some location with an awesome mansion.
Layla has just returned home from her summer in Europe (tour guides for teens and where she met Tyler) to discover the family finances are in major trouble. Cypress Grove is her home and the only life she's ever known. Her family has run the mansion for as long as she can remember. Helping decorate, plan events and hosting is in her blood. But finding out that it all might be gone, she's shocked and agrees to a scheme to help save her family home and livelihood. Will it be worth it? Especially when the one man she loves comes to town to finally see if what they had in Europe was real. Will she be able to pretend now that he's here?
Oh I loved these two characters. Layla was a sassy, no nonsense, fun, flirty and loveable character in the previous book and I wanted to know more about her. Well this book definitely dives write into her life, thoughts, feelings and struggles. Plus bring in Tyler and we start to understand why he acted the way he did in Europe. Ok, I know not all of you reading this have probably read Kiss Me in the Moonlight but no worries if you haven't. This book can definitely be a stand alone, so you're safe. It's just fun knowing how Tyler and Layla met and seeing their relationship finally start to progress.
Lots of sparks were flying off my kindle. Zing, Zap, Sizzle...it was awesome. These two have great chemistry and let me tell you the mystery/suspense added a great dimension to the story. I had my guesses as to whodunit but wasn't 100% sure until near the end. Layla wasn't afraid to dig in and get dirty to find out what was going on. Tyler was the solid rock who kept plugging away and trying to figure out if his sacrifice(s) was worth it.
Tyler you go get her!
I loved the setting, the characters, the romance, the mystery, the mansion, the old victorian, the bridge, the rain, the pond, the pictures (ahhhhhh, happy, happy sigh). Yeah it was a great read if you can't tell. Grab it! I dare you not to have a permagrin while reading this one because I sure did. I'm even smiling big right now as I'm writing this thinking about it all. Hee Hee!
Content: Clean. Some swoony kisses and mystery.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
4.5 stars for this romance with a hint of mystery. I think I'm going to like this new series Mansions. We met Layla and Tyler in Kiss Me in the Moonlight (part of the Destined for Love Romance Europe series). Layla was really into Tyler while chaperoning teens in Europe during the summer, but Tyler was shy and left Europe without even kissing her. Layla returns home to South Carolina from a summer in Europe to find that her family may lose their business Cypress Grove, the tobacco plantation, and their home on the property unless she dates Grant, the son of someone willing to invest in the business. Of course this is when Tyler arrives in town taking a job as a bartender at Cypress Grove. He's decided to withdraw from the Master's program, use his student loans to buy a house to flip, and finally tell Layla how he feels about her. Layla becomes the unpaid event coordinator at Cypress Grove and notices some discrepancies. She enlists Tyler's help in her search for answers. Trying to figure why Cypress Grove is losing money even though they're booked solid for a year and their services aren't cheap. Can Layla and Tyler fight their growing attraction? They have to, because it doesn't matter if her engagement to Grant Davenport is all for show, her family's livelihood and home depend on it. I really liked Layla and Tyler, and we find out more about Tyler's background. I also liked the character of Grant Davenport, he was basically a good guy who needed to stand up to his conniving father. I didn't care for Layla's father, Drew, from the beginning. What kind of father puts the burden of saving the family's home and business on his daughter's shoulders and keeps agreeing to things without giving her a heads up? I liked the way the story ended--not a perfect ending for everyone but a great one for Layla and Tyler. Looking forward to more in this series.
I think I'm going to love this new Destined for Love series with the theme of mansions! The last series set in Europe was so fun and this series has a great line up of authors. I'm hoping to be able to read then all in the next couple months. Fingers crossed!
Kiss Me in the Rain follows a couple that we meet in a previous book, Kiss Me in the Moonlight. It sets the stage for this book although I don't think you need to read the first book to understand the second. But, as with all books in a series, you will probably feel more of a connection to the characters if you do.
Layla and Tyler have a few bumps to get over in this book. It's a frustrating sort of attraction because neither of them can act on the feelings they have. Instead each of them is trying to be close to the other in small ways while they try to work things out. I loved the sparks between Layla and Tyler and the frustrated attraction. There is also a bit of mystery intertwined in the story line that kept things interesting. I loved the romantic ending! It was worth all the frustration. :)
This story was easy to picture in my head. I love when I can read books and fall into a movie as well. I can't wait to read the next book in this series! Hopefully next week!
Layla Anderson and Tyler Keeton met when they chaperoned teens for a summer program in Europe. Layla gave Tyler plenty of hints and chances to make a move, but he never took them.
Now Layla is home in South Carolina, and her family's estate is in trouble. The only way to save it is a sham relationship with an investor's son. Layla agrees, only to have Tyler show up to work at their estate that same night. Can she save the home she loves or have the man she loves?
I liked that this story continued with characters from Kiss Me in the Moonlight. You don't have to read it to enjoy this story, but it does provide Layla and Tyler's backstory.
The romance was sweet. Is it sad that I love the confrontations? I am not one for confrontations myself, but after so long having things unsaid, I just loved these scenes. After all of the turmoil and waiting to be on the same page, it was even more special when they finally got together.
I also loved the mystery. As Layla starts working at Cypress Grove, things don't add up. I liked that this story wasn't just about the romance, and that the ending was realistic.
I also loved the setting on an old plantation/mansion in South Carolina. I loved the parties, and the evening storms. I could just feel the humidity!
If you're looking for a sweet romance with a bit of a mystery, you will enjoy this.
Content: clean (no language, no violence, a few kisses)
(4.5 Stars) I haven't ever been to the South, but I can sure picture the beautiful and historic mansions that dot the landscape and Armstrong does a really good job of bringing my visualizations to life. I especially enjoyed learning more about Tyler's house project because I can't look at something and picture the potential, so it's fun when others can do that.
Layla and Tyler are secondary characters in Armstrong's offering in the Destined for Love Romance: Europe set, but I think this story can stand on its own if you haven't read that one yet. Tyler and Layla had a connection in Europe, but he feels she's way out of his league and when he decides he's all in, he discovers that she's got a new boyfriend. Little does he know, it's a relationship of convenience.
I love the way this author uses mystery, suspense, and danger to balance out the romance, taking the plot to a deeper level. Don't get me wrong--the romance and sparks are definitely still there, but the characters are forced to connect in other ways. I loved watching it all unfold and although some parts a little predictable, there are still plenty of surprise twists. This story is a great start to this new set and I can't wait for the others!
Content: mild romance (kissing).
*I received a copy which didn't influence my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.*
I liked the narrator and thought she did a great job with the southern accents.
This story did not capture my interest as I read. I think it began with not being able to connect with Layla and Tyler due to a lack of character development. It might have been different if I had read the previous book they were introduced in. I felt like I started the story halfway through. Things just started happening and I was reading what was going on, but felt removed from it all. Layla came across as snobbish in some ways (judging others as "gauche"), yet didn't understand why Tyler thought she wouldn't be okay dating someone who didn't fit her standard of living. The fake engagement plot felt a little over the top, and I agreed with Tyler when he called it a "crazy alternate reality." I thought it was cool that he wanted to restore old properties and flip the houses, but didn't think that using his student loan money was an honest way to get started. Shouldn't he have gotten a personal loan or business loan for that? It felt like the story jumped back and forth between Tyler's project and Layla's project instead of being more cohesive. Even though I thought this book was just okay, some of my other reviewer friends enjoyed it so you still might want to give it a chance, especially if you read Kiss Me in the Moonlight by the same author.
(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)
Kiss Me In The Rain (Destined for Love: Mansions) by Lindzee Armstrong It's hard to control your own destiny when fate has other plans. Lindzee Armstrong can always be counted on to keep the laughs going and the drama flowing. Kiss Me In the Rain brings more emotion than usual. Tyler and Layla are caught in the eye of a storm that seems to have no end in sight. The heart is the deciding factor, but along the way encounters with danger await and adorable heads right into trouble. Laugh your way into love is a motto that Ms. Armstrong takes to heart and that mantra influence every story she writes.
This book won me over with its’ title. My husband and I had our first kiss in the rain. And yes, it was very romantic. So this book had a lot to live up to. :) And it did. I loved Layla and Tyler. Poor Tyler! He doesn’t make a move when Layla gives him multiple chances, then when he’s ready, she’s unavailable. Talk about bad timing! Layla is so fun and full of energy. She’s so straightforward and open, and I loved it! Tyler is hard working and has such a good heart. When he decided to show Layla they were right for each other, he sure did it right! It was so sweet and so romantic.
The setting was amazing! I loved picturing the mansion and the parties and weddings there. Cypress Grove would have been an amazing place to grow up, and I could understand why Layla didn’t want to let it go. I liked the bit of mystery in the story surrounding Cypress Grove. Some of it I figured out, but some was a surprise.
This is the first book I’ve read by Lindzee Armstrong. I have many of hers on my TBR, but the whole “too many books, not enough time” has gotten in the way of me reading them. Now I know what I’ve been missing. :) I look forward to reading more of them soon.
I received a copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.
Romance, clean, series, but standalone This was a fun read. It features characters from another novel, but is a standalone (it made me want to go back and read the others to get reminders about these characters!). This was an interesting take on this romance. Layla's home, the business, and the 'surprise' at the beginning of the novel, made for an interesting back story for this couple. I was wondering if Tyler would stick with Layla after the surprise. Her diligent, determined work figuring out the discrepancies in the estate business records made for an interesting back story. The house that Tyler was flipping seemed like the perfect setting for them as a couple, I am interested to see if that will be 'finished' in another novel. Also curious re the couple mentioned in the novel. The other H, seemed interesting, and wondering if he will be featured in the future. That being said, I enjoyed the story, how Tyler was determined to get his feelings out there, even though it seemed like he had missed his chance. I received a copy in exchange for a fair and honest review, but the opinions are my own.
I'm a fan of Ms. Armstrong and have been awhile. I look forward to each of her publications.
This one has all the bells, whistles, and strong writing I've come to expect from Ms. Armstrong. Along with steamy kisses, plot twists, and good old Southern charm.
You'll love the chemistry between Layla and Tyler, and it's clean too.
Set yourself up with some Southern tea and a beignet, and curl up in your cozy chair. You won't want to put this down.
Very sweet and adventurous. Had some twist I did not see coming at all. I am sure there is a book before this. I now need to read that one as well. Great story.
Kiss me in the rain. Sounds like a title of a song or a lyric. The fact that it sounds so romantic gives it an even more graceful ring to it. Have you imagined yourself being kissed in the rain? Or have you actually done it? And how was it?
I have not been kissed in the rain. I don't know if that is unfortunate but at least I know how it feels like because of this story. But then again, bridging the great divide between reality and imagination is an entirely different story.
This is a sequel to Kiss Me in the Moonlight. Another title for a song, right? Anyway, this story features two characters who were in Kiss Me in the Moonlight--Layla and Tyler. After spending their summer in Paris as tour guides, these two decided to go back to the US. Layla went back to her home--Cypress Grove. A mansion which is often a venue for parties of the elite. Tyler quit grad school and decided to follow Layla to her hometown.
This is my nth book from Lindzee Armstrong. I didn't realize that I was slowly becoming a fan of this author. It does help being a member of her ARC team. It was one of the first few groups that I signed up for. At first, I didn't know what it all entails but I just read her books which I get for free. No regrets there. I did enjoy her clean and sweet stories. They were easy to read and very relatable. Feel-good reads and very easy to finish in one sitting. Without me knowing, Armstrong's stories became my go-to when I feel like I need to feel good and they never fail me. To this day, I have almost read all of her stories and I am looking forward to reading more of them. I would just like to say my big thanks to the author for her invigorating stories of love.
Like all of the author's other stories, this is a clean read also. It speaks of how two people overcome the divide between economic status and family expectations. It speaks of following one's dream and passion in life. Like the rest of us, these two fictional characters have their own dreams. Tyler wants to build a business flipping houses. Layla wants to be able to do what she wants without feeling guilty about her family's expectations and requirements. Like all good stories, conflicts and antagonists add more spice and flair. In here, a little mystery and embezzling is added for good measure. And betrayal and disappointment packed the whole story into a neat little package.
Like the first book, this is not a straight romance story but with a mix of a little mystery which leads to a major problem for our two main characters. How they manage and resolve this by helping each other is how this story leads to the kissing in the rain part. Yes, a happy ending.
I give this book 4/5 umbrellas. I liked that this story or the stories in the Destined for Love series is mixed with mystery and suspense. It sort of brought the story to another level and still remain clean and fun and end with a very happy ending for the characters. If you are looking for clean, feel-good and inspirational love stories, read Lindzee Armstrong's books. You will never be disappointed. They are not too heavy but packed with enough spice here and there to give more life to the stories.
Her hero, her idol, had fallen off his pedestal, and she'd never again view him the same. - Lindzee Armstrong, Kiss Me in the Rain -
I enjoyed this story. It was a clean read with likable characters and some tangled emotions. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I had trouble believing Layla would go along with her father's crazy plans for so long. She seemed like an otherwise strong woman who knew what she wanted, and yet she was willing to go along with a fake dating/engagement in spite of being in love with someone else to save her mansion. I also didn't believe that it took her so long to figure out who the real thief was. All the clues were there, plain as day.
However, I really liked how Layla and Tyler interacted. That felt real within the confines of the situation they found themselves in. Mostly, I loved the choice that Kayla made in the end. That was real, and it made me go, "finally!"
I give Kiss Me in the Rain a solid 4 with a Clean rating.
1-5 scale and what it means: 1: I couldn’t even finish it / just plain bad 2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing 3: I didn’t hate it, but it was still missing something / forgettable but inoffensive 3.5: On the line between good and ok / like, not love 4: Solid mind candy / worth reading 4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read 5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it! / a true treasure
Movie Ratings in relation to my review: Clean--Hallmark movies, some kissing, no nudity, no sex on or off "screen" PG--Some innuendo but nothing kids don't hear every day, sex is all closed door PG-13--some language (swear words not related to sex), more talk about sex, heavy petting, removal of clothing on screen, but sex is closed door. R--swearing (can be related to sex), feels like the whole story is about the sex and not the relationship or some other plot
I'm loving this new Destined for Love series! It's the Mansions series and every book includes a great mansion as part of the plot. I loved the idea of Layla's mansion. It's Cypress Grove in South Carolina and it's been part of Layla's life for as long as she can remember. But...the mansion is costing her family a lot of money and things are getting bad. To solve the problem, her dad proposes that she date Grant, a man she hasn't ever met so that his father will give them money to make everything work out.
It's terrible timing for Layla. She's just gotten home from Europe where she fell in love with Tyler. Things only get worse, Grant's father announces an engagement when neither one of the couple knew he would and they have to scramble to come up with an engagement story. To make matters worse, Tyler has come to Cypress Grove to work and he happens to be there when the engagement is announced. This leads to all kind of craziness for Layla and for Tyler too, he doesn't know the engagement is fake.
I loved the plot of this one. There's a hidden mystery that Layla has to figure out. And the answer to the mystery pretty much rocks her whole world. I liked Layla, she's willing to work hard to save a house that's important to her. She's willing to think outside of the box and try to figure out just what's wrong. And she doesn't give up on love, even when it seems impossible.
Tyler is great too! I liked the way he didn't give up on Layla, even when he thought he didn't stand a chance. He was willing to work hard to accomplish all of his goals and go after what he wanted. And he was able to see what Layla couldn't because she was too close to the situation.
Go grab this one and make sure to read all of these great Destined for Love: Mansions Collection books!
Layla is a southern belle who grew up with a life of privilege at Cypress Grove Mansion in South Carolina. She spent the summer in Europe as a chaperone for a tour company and she met Tyler. Layla knew she was falling for Tyler and tried her hardest to get him to make a move but he doesn’t come from the same background as Layla and is reluctant to take their relationship beyond friendship. Tyler shows up at Cypress Grove at the worst possible time and Layla can’t fix the circumstances she has found herself in since returning from Europe without jeopardizing her family’s legacy. Will Layla be able to figure out how her family ended up in such dire straits? Will Tyler be willing to hang around until Layla figures out how to get out of the mess she has found herself in? Can Tyler get over the differences between he and Layla and focus on what they have in common?
Lindzee has done it again… this is a great story. I was immediately sucked into the lives of these characters. There is great character development for Layla and Tyler and some of the secondary characters. The descriptions of locations in this book were so wonderful that I could imagine myself there- which I love. The plot is interesting because this isn’t a plain old romance- there is a bit of mystery involved as well. This is one of those books that you can’t put down because you need to see what is going to happen next.
I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily provided an honest review.
Kiss Me in the Rain is the first book in the Destined for Romance: Mansions series by Lindzee Armstrong. This continues with some of the characters that were in Kiss Me In the Moonlight (which was a 5 star read itself). This is a true love story and mystery of sorts built around the old south.Layla's parents own a large property a plantation of sorts that they use for weddings and events. She has always helped out and lent a hand. But in the summer she went off and chaperoned a group of teens in Europe. While there it appears life back home moved on rather sideways. Tyler oh Tyler. He is like a dog with a bone. He has been circling around pretty Layla all summer long but never got the nerve up to ask her out to tell her he liked her. Closest she came to letting him know was telling him he could always find a job with her parents company as a bartender should he decided to 'come by for a visit'. So should she be surprised that she sees him at the first big event she attends once she is back home? BUT wait there is so much more ...That big event is not just an event but she get hoodwinked into dating one of her dad's friend's just divorced son's. And that son's father does something BIG BOLD and UnForgivable that Night that Almost just almost sends Tyler back overseas.
Grab this book and check it out. It is really well worth the time!!
rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. we meet layla, on her way home to Cypress Grove from europe only to have Tyler on her mind. when she arrives home, she finds her parents somber and her dad acting strangely. he tells layla that they have no more money and are about to lose Cypress Grove. layla is devastated as its her family home with so many memories and she will help anyway she can. her dad tells her that mr davenport will help finance if she dates his son. layla is shocked , she doesnt want to do it but her dad manipulates her into it. Tyler is on his way to Layla, he followed her home bc he wants her and even got a bar-tending job at the mansion. the night of the festivities, layla sees tyler and is dumbfounded that he is there. the next thing she knows mr davenport is announcing her engagement to his son...she just met the man and is just freshly divorced. layla is pissed beyond belief that not only does she have to pretend to date grant now she has to fake being engaged to him. her heart wants tyler but she doesnt know what he wants. layla decides to help out at the mansion with events and things are adding up...money is missing, secrets are being kept and nothing is as it seems. what will layla do? will tyler finally tell layla how he feels about her?
Upon reading its abstract, Kiss Me in The Rain may appear to be just another “fake fiancée” story. The first few chapters might be misleading as well. But as the story develops, Ms. Armstrong’s witty, energetic, absolutely peculiar writing style takes over, and the reader is captivated by the fast paced, light hearted narration, with just the right amount of unpredictability and suspence. The two protagonists are young, sensitive, intelligent individuals. They don’t stand out for being incredibly gifted, but rather because of the way they deal with the events they have to face. Layla and Tyler slowly overcome their doubts and fears and find the courage to confront a life altering situation, building a future according to their own aspirations and dreams. They make the reader sympathise with them, avidly turning page after page to find out how their story develops. Some of the secondary characters deserve to be mentioned as well, both for the delectable cameo appearances of the protagonists of Kiss Me in the Moonlight, and because others, like Layla’s fake fiancé, may be worth a full story in the future. Overall, Kiss Me in The Rain is a clean, fast paced, entertaining novel that will surely please Ms. Armstrong’s many enthusiastic readers, and is strongly recommended for those who would like to discover a new, very talented author.
A sweet, clean romance with a mystery to solve, Kiss Me in the Rain is about love lost and new possibilities. When Layla returns home after a stint in Europe where she worked together with Tyler, her heart is aching for the man who couldn't commit and she takes the rejection badly. However, returning home doesn't bring the healing she needs as she finds that there are more problems awaiting her than she thought possible. Before Layla realises it, she is engaged to a man she doesn't know when Tyler arrives on the scene to work at her family's estate. As Layla tries to unravel some of the family's financial woes, she opens a Pandora’s box and when she tries to find answers to the riddles, she is stonewalled at every turn. I loved both Layla and Tyler, and Grant is also a good guy. However, the parents involved could have taken some pointers from their children. This book is well written and although we met these characters in Kiss Me in the Moonlight, it is nevertheless a standalone and ends on a satisfactory note. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Such a great book! In the morning I thought I would just read a little of the first chapter but after the first couple of pages I was hooked and couldn't put the book down! So my family had to bear with me as I read this in one sitting. I didn't read the previous book in the series but I wasn’t at a loss for what was happening since each book is stand alone. Although having read this now makes me want to learn more about these characters in the other books.
I love the scenes in the rain. They created such beautiful imagery that I could imagine I was there seeing it with my own eyes. I liked that in their hearts they already knew what they wanted, it was just making the circumstances change to their favor. Of course like all good books, this had a happy ending. It was a clean sweet romance and I would definitely recommend it. I am curious about Grant, I would love to read a book with his HEA.
I received a copy of this book from the publishers but this is a voluntary honest review.
I wondered what happened with Layla and Tyler from Kiss Me in the Moonlight. Layla returns from Europe to a family crisis and with a broken heart. As she is asked to do the unthinkable by her father she must also deal with her strong feelings, which she believe are not reciprocated by Tyler. Tyler decides he was an idiot for not believing in Layla and her feelings for him. His parents relationship has completely jaded him. When he moves to South Carolina to be with Layla he is surprised to find her engaged. Layla and Tyler are two characters whose lives are influenced by their parents mistakes in ways they don;t even realize. As Layla tries to do right by her family and by her heart she fears all she is doing is pushing Tyler away. Tyler is trying to put his feelings for Layla in the back of his mind and start his renovation company. You'll love this story of young love that is meant to be and will succeed even with all the obstacles that are put in their way. I was given this book and am giving an honest voluntary review.
Besides the beautiful landscape with its traditional surroundings, the story is absolutely pure and sweet. Layla comes back home to find out that her parents are on the verge of an economic breakdown that will actually force her to be the fake fiancé of a rich man in order to save their business. Unfortunately she is already in love with a man she met during summer break and even worst he follows her back home to be near her only to find out that she is already promised to another man. Things seem to go better when the engagement is announced but Layla isn’t prepared to discover the news that will question her loyalty towards her parents…. The book is beautiful, the story is filled with a lot of mystery and suspense but mostly the main character that is Layla is the perfect example of a person who is willing to sacrifice her happiness to save her loved ones. An enjoyable read, I warmly recommend it.
I'm so glad that Tyler and Layla have their own story. I liked them as secondary characters in 'Kiss Me in the Moonlight' and love them as the hero/heroine in this story. Of course, it doesn't go well for them at first. They learn the meaning of - timing is everything.
The drama of the story is not only if Tyler and Layla will get their happily ever after, it is also about how can Layla's family plantation and business be in jeopardy. Where is all the money going? It is a really good storyline that keeps you invested. My only negative is a personal preference one. I am not a fan of family members especially parents manipulating and using guilt against other family members and children. I found it upsetting but, in the context of the story it makes perfect sense and the HEA makes up for it in the end.
I recommend this book and look forward to the others in this new series.
This story is about Layla and Tyler. They both played a supporting role in Kiss Me In The Moonlight. Now they’re the lead.
This book is full of old-world charm; you can just imagine yourself actually being in South Carolina admiring the beautiful old houses. Those houses are full of character and so is Layla. I liked Layla. And I really liked Tyler too. I found myself rooting for them, wishing everything would turn out just fine. And while I knew this would be the sort of book to have a HEA, I found myself wondering HOW? The story was charming and sweet but not overly sweet. And the whole sinister/suspicious ledgers thing gives it another dimension. Oh, it was such a good book! Real good. I just couldn’t stop reading. The pages turned themselves :)
Would the next book be about Cosette? I hope!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
Kiss Me in the Rain is probably my favorite book by Ms. Armstrong to date. In it Antoinette returns from a trip to Europe to discover that her family home and business are at risk of being lost in bankruptcy. It is a total shock to her, as is the deal her father had made with a potential investor to try to save the family legacy. She quickly finds herself agreeing to help him, but when the boy she fell in love with in Europe shows up in Cypress Grove she finds herself trapped in a web of deceit. Tyler is upset and bewildered by events that Antoinette can't explain. He's unable to resist helping her, however, when she asks for his aid in untangling the mess that has become her life. Can they solve the mystery of the money loss and discover a future together in the process? This is a clean romantic suspense.I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration by Karly Hutchins was very good and her voice fit Antoinette perfectly!
When I started Tyler and Layla's story I only expected a second chance romance. What I found was so much more. I felt the betrayal and anger but also the love. Not just the love Layla had for Tyler but love of family and home. Which made the betrayal so much worse. This story has mystery and suspense to keep you turning the pages just to find out exactly what will Layla do for love and which of her loves will win; her family, her home or Tyler. Look forward to reading the rest of series.
Note: I believe that this series may need to be read in order to better understand friendship and connections with other couples. I personally haven't read anything else in series but just one section made me want to read previous book because the story around another couple sounded interesting.
I loved this story! I could just picture Cypress Grove with its luxury and southern charm. Layla and Tyler's romance started in a fun way with working together in Europe. When he was too shy to show his feelings for Layla, she came home to South Carolina heartbroken. Then financial problems with her family's business distracted her, and she quickly got involved with trying to fix things. It was devastating when she realized what she needed to do to save her family home and business...she was expected to marry the son of an wealthy investor, so her father could make things financially stable. It becomes even more stomach-churning when Tyler comes to town looking for a job, but mainly looking for her. It's a crazy, tumultuous story with a beautiful romance at the center. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
Kiss Me in the Rain is a must read to find out if Layla and Tyler's relationship would evolve from Kiss Me in the Moonlight. It is also the perfect sequel to Kiss Me in the Moonlight. I also love the cameo appearance of Paige and Nick and that they remain friends with Layla and Tyler from their European job. Readers will love to know that it is all well with Paige and Nick.
Just like Kiss Me in the Moonlight, there is mystery of missing money and Cypress Grove going under, Blackmailing, and the denial of the truth especially when one's is staring the truth in the face. Kiss Me in the Rain is not as exciting as Kiss Me in the Moonlight especially when the first book has so much at stakes tinged with so much dangers. These are characters which readers will remember.
