Wizard scouts are the most advanced recon forces in the galaxy. When the Intergalactic Empire has a tough mission, they send in a wizard scout. When they have an impossible mission, they send in Wizard Scout Trinity Delgado.
The planet Cavos is on the verge of civil war. Only an outmanned, outgunned force of Empire peacekeepers prevent an outbreak of bloodshed on a global scale. When the peacekeepers’ commander requests an armored regiment as reinforcements, the Imperial High Command sends him Wizard Scout Trinity instead.
With only a fresh out of the university grad student and a half-crazy old pilot as allies, Trinity has to find the source of Cavos’s troubles before the Empire becomes part of a disaster far greater than a mere local civil war.
Caught between the peacekeepers’ resentful commander and suspicious local government officials, Trinity and her battle computer, Jennifer, have their work cut out for them. Together they must weave their way through one mystery after another leaving a trail of bloody bodies along the way until they find the answer. That is, if they can remain alive long enough to find it.

It was a really nice read... until she was utterly in love with a guy she literally just met. It just felt so unrealistic. I wish their relationship grew more and made more sense. They just feel like complete strangers. I wish that part was written better. It just felt... forced, and like it came from nowhere.

Good start to a series, but needs more development
Straightforward story, with characters that are still a little two dimensional. The world building isn't as developed as many books I read. But, this one has a lot of promise! The magic system looks like it will be pretty interesting but still feels underdeveloped. All in all, a good start... just needs a little more work!
The story was pretty predictable and characters need to develop. I think it'll be pretty good, once that happens. Thanks for an intro to a new world! I think your headed the right direction, just needs to be developed.
For parents and kids, story does not have a bunch of explicit sex or profanity. There is one 'romantic' scene, but tastefully handled, without the graphic detail found in too many sci-fi/fantasy books. It's certainly got more class, and fewer faults, than the average teen tv series. I hope to read more!
The positive of the book: a good narrator of the audiobook version, some good action scenes, real stakes that built some tension, magic+tech executed well. It's a spinoff, but I didn't feel like I needed to have read the first series to understand things. The story is far from perfect but good enough for me.
So this book is mostly good, but still only gets an "it was ok" two-star rating from me. That is because of the "instalove" romance that ruined it for me.
Not sure if this one is a 3.5 or a 4 but I liked it and it is pretty good and worth the read. If you liked this one I recommend Wizard Defiant (Intergalactic Wizard Scout Chronicles, #1) very smilar story and in the same world but with a male as the main character.
Had potential. Needed an editor. The AI needed to have all versions of "I calculate" removed from her dialog. Otherwise it was VERY GOOD. If you can ignore an author telling instead of showing it's absolutely worth the read.
