I tend to avoid poetry because there is a intimacy within poetry that makes me feel as if I'm peering through a window at the poet, unbeknownst to them. As if I am reading between the lines even before the ink has set. It's haunting, I tell you!
But the day my copy of 'Deja Vu' arrived in the mail I flipped through the pages until my thumb landed firmly on a poem titled 'Sometimes I Pray that You Won't Talk to Me' - and I knew that this little book and I would get along just fine.
