The Amado Lopez Saga Begins The outlaws who raided the little Sonoran town and killed nearly everyone in it, had no fear of retribution. They were fifteen strong and they were all killers. They feared no man. Among those killed in the massacre were the wife and sons of a young man named Amado Lopez. Lopez was no ordinary man. He had been taught the skills of hunting and war by his Yaqui grandfather and his father, who was a career soldier and cavalry officer. Lopez would soon teach the brutal outlaws who had killed his family, the real meaning of fear. Night Wind is the first in a novella series that follows a young Amado Lopez, who was first introduced in the best selling novel Return of the Outlaw.
C. M. Curtis brings a background of diverse experience to his writing. He grew up in a small western community in cattle ranching country. His paternal grandfather was a wild horse hunter in his youth and his maternal grandfather is said to have actually met Butch Cassidy. Curtis' first paying job, at twelve years of age, was in a slaughter house. He later became a construction worker, a truck driver, a structural steel welder, a coal miner and a licensed building contractor.
In what he calls his second life, he has been a chiropractic physician, a radio talk show host, a newspaper columnist and, of course, a writer.
Everyone who reads this short novella, will not be disappointed. Intriguing analysis of a man who lost his family to a bunch of cutthroats. Who did nothing but plunder poor Mexican villages, killing and raping there weren't regret in their minds of what they inflicted on their own people. This is a vendetta for the deaths of Diego Zammora and his gang. There's a snippet of history about the Jesuits of Mexico who were exiled, excommunicated from their homeland, Spain. So they headed to Mexico to live as ghosts in the mountains of Mexico. Readers will enjoy this saga of man who wants peace, but knows deep down that it won't happen. Lots of action and drama throughout this book.
This was a very good (but short) introduction to Amado Lopez, a character we again meet many years later in another book (Return of the Outlaw). He may appear in other C.M. Curtis books as well, but I know he is in Return of the Outlaw.
What a great story. I am glad the little girl was returned to someone who loves her.i really hope there will be more stories on Amado Lopez. Thank you C. M. Curtis for a great read.
