Craig Anderson can't stand writing about himself in the third person. I’m a Brit that lives in Canada, and I moved here via Australia, so no matter where I go people hear my bizarre accent and ask me where I’m from. I have a beautiful wife, two rambunctious kids, a cat called Sydney, and a Sheepadoodle puppy.
I love to write humour (yes that is how they spell it where I am from!) with just a touch of depth. If I can make you laugh and then make you think, I’m on the right track. I have a soft spot for characters with hidden strength, the types that no-one thinks will amount to anything. Give me a nun-chuck wielding elf or a granny hacker any day of the week.
People typing away on PC keyboards while staring at monitors should be boring, right?
Well in cyber thriller TROJAN, things move at a slightly faster pace.
The story of anti-hacking agency, Tempest, and the hacker that wants to piss them off, TROJAN manages to come across a little like 90's Trek where jargon and techno-babble are thrown about with wild abandon, making the 'action' of hacking come across more exciting than it should. With fast cars, guns, and explosions chucked in, it's got quiet the cinematic feel to it.
The plot moves at a nice pace, with twists and turn a plenty. There are, however, a few things holding the book back.
It's confusing who the main character is as several characters all have their point of view. Sometimes this even occurs mid chapter. There are also a few things that get explained in too much detail, instead of letting the reader work things out. And two characters early on lay down an info dump each way as they ask each other about their backgrounds, where looser, more relaxed dialogue would have been better.
But these are technical errors, and the story itself has me wanting to know what happens next (this being book one in THE TEMPEST FILES). As the story was wrapped up, and the loose ends were passed before the reader as a reminder that there's more to come, I could almost here the closing credits music stir.
This was a great book to read, a very different look at hacking, hackers and how those who try to stop them work. It kept me reading non stop from start to finish. Filled with plenty of plot twists that kept me turning the pages and a revelation that brought a number of things together at the end of the book and also made for a great launch to the next book. I can't wait for the next book to come out, I look forward to seeing how the story continues because there is obviously still a lot to come.
This book was a great read! I picked it up after having read a few longer books that were slow burns to get through, and after having read most of Craig Andersons other books this was just what I hoped it was. From the first few chapters I was all in and plowing through the pages. The story itself was gripping with some turns along the way, and in the end the book was far from what I expected it to be, but absolutely in a good way. I would absolutely recommend this book if you'd like a quick paced cyber thriller that grabs hold from the beginning. Great job Craig!
This book was great! It grabbed me in the first chapter and didn't let go until the end. It was intriguing and mysterious, which kept me reading late into the night. I found that it was not hard to keep up with, being that there was a lot of computer jargon, which pleased me. I cannot wait for the next one in the series.
Another excellent book from Mr Anderson . This is the 3rd book of his that I have read and it's another winner. I don't normally leave reviews of books as most of the authors I read are a bit more well know. Hopefully my review can help new readers to discover Craig's excellent books
This book started out slow but once it got going it became a real page turner.I liked the little twist at the end.No, I won't reveal it as I don't believe in spoilers.Quite enjoyed this book.
Interesting plot; believable characters. Mostly plausible development. Nice twist at the end. I recommend this book to computer oriented, thriller genre folks.
