this volume being called “talent and instinct”..... [rest] i can’t properly articulate what the quote “talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish” means to me just know i am once again in shambles. and having to witness iwaizumi doubting himself as the ace once again? that’s on me for watching both the eps and reading this. but god overall what a satisfying match.
both daichi and hinata learned how to receive by being ball boys. i am so proud of them. <3 SEASON 3 HAS BEGIN PLIS ITS MY FAV SEASON<3 AKITERU TSUKKISHIMA IS HERE AND HE WILL RULE YOUR ASSES
This counts as my review for the whole Haikyuu!! manga
”You don’t win alone. That’s just how it is.”
READ FOR: best character developments and themes that I have ever encountered READING LEVEL: Level 1-3 out of 5
*All of my reviews are as spoiler-free as possible unless stated otherwise*
I don’t think I’ll ever have enough words to express how much I love this manga and anime series but I’ll try anyway. But I just need to make it known that this has changed my view in anime and manga forever. I caught up with this manga in the last 30 or so chapters but I won’t say much to avoid spoilers... but it was crazy.
It made me laugh, cry, fall in love, think, and honestly... what else do you need in a series? I can keep going on and on about this series but honestly I think you should just read it for yourself. I really don't think you'll regret it.
When someone asks me what the plot is, honestly, all I can say is “they play volleyball” HAHAHA… but it’s so much more than that.
PLOT: ★★★★★ The plot was so well thought of from the very beginning and when I re-read the manga I can’t believe the amount of foreshadowing Furudate actually placed. My mind was so blown… I just. No words. I am seriously in love.
ART STYLE: ★★★★★ The art style… *chef’s kiss* especially in the later arcs. There were so many matches but even then Furudate never failed to leave me breathless at each one.
CHARACTERS: ★★★★★ The character development here is THE BEST. HANDS DOWN. that I have ever come across. I fell in love with the so many characters in this series that I did not even think that was possible.
The character relationships... the character dynamics... their mindsets... they are all so perfectly well done and realistic GAHHHH I've said this so many time throughout this review BUT THEY JUST MADE ME FALL IN LOVE SO EASILY. I can't pick my favourite one but hinata and kageyama just hold a special place in my heart.
This connects to the themes but my favourite thing that was done with the characters here was that each one of them embodied a theme or a message that the author wanted to get across. Those are spoilers so I won’t really talk about it but just know that it was one of the main reasons that made me go so crazy about this series.
*cough* hinata kageyama atsumu sakusa bokuto kita noya ushijima tendou tsukki suga kenma kuroo *cough* +++
Note: if you think this series is focused on only 1 team... you're in it for A RIDEEEEEE
I'm getting chills just looking at and remembering these panels ^^
THEMES: ★★★★★ Honestly I basically thought the themes were just gonna be “teamwork” and “friendship”… while it is all that, Furudate sensei was able to make it even deeper.
I think the one that was focused on the most was “It’s not always about winning, it’s about growth”. But there were also so many smaller things that lead up to that bigger point: (1) we get our strength from others, (2) but you also need to make yourself dependable, (3) there is always room for improvement, (4) working hard is good but overworking yourself isn’t, (5) you are built on the small things you do everyday, (6) an ace's back should be an inspiration to your teammates (hi bokuto), (7)+++
The way I wrote it was very straight to the point but I was amazed at how Furudate tackled the so many messages that I received from this series.
PACING: ★★★★★ THE TIMING. OF EVERYTHING. JUST MAKES SENSE.
It’s so realistic that I want to cry. (I actually already did… a lot of times.)
PAGE TURNER: ★★★★★
You should understand that I made this review weeks after I finally calmed down about this series cuz I was really going crazy about it HAHAHA if you have finished this series too or met me while I was reading this, you know what I’m talking about ;)
I'll keep this series close to my heart until the grave. You cannot convince me otherwise.
I realized I was putting off starting this volume because I knew what was coming and if it's one thing I've learned reading the manga, its that I get wayyyyy more emotional reading Haikyu!! then watching it.
It's proven true over and over again, but this volume went above and beyond proving it. I had goosebumps the entire first two chapters and tears trying to come out my eyes because how can you cheer so much for one team but see the devastation of loss to the other team?
Granted, I don't love every single team (though I have liked all of them thus far!), but this was such an emotional win and loss that it was hard not to want to cry. Though even with that said, after another case of goosebumps on the final two pages of the actual story, those feels and tears came back SUPER strong for the bonus story.
Brace yourself for this volume. Have your tissues ready and a rising eagerness when the sadness has dimmed to see a new foe that is even more fierce then previous challengers.
Also, can we take a moment to admire this cover? I absolutely fell head over heels for this team, especially the third years! I'm really having to fight to not want to buy all the merchandise of them! LOL!
Another incredible volume in this fantastic series!
وقتی ایوا-چان داره گریه میکنه که what kind of ace am I؟ )):
اونجایی که اوشیجیما به اویکاوا میگه اشتباه کردی و به خاطر غرور مسخرهت نیومدی شیراتوریزاوا: "I have never once thought that I made the wrong choice. My volleyball career is far from over. The "INSIGNIFICANT PRIDE" OF MINE, YOU BETTER REMEMBER IT!"
Este tomo alegra tu corazón y a la vez lo destroza. Mágicamente pasa eso en unas.m 200 páginas? No sé cuánto tiene el tomo. No me fijé 😂
En fin. Siento que ya se cómo va a terminar esto pero de todas formas quiero tener un rayito de luz que ilumine la historia y me demuestre que estoy equivocada. Porfi?
E così siamo giunti all'ultimo set contro l'Aobajosai... una partita combattutissima, letteralmente all'ultima schiacciata.
surprising we didn’t get the panel of oikawa crashing into the bench and popping back up but geez... hands eating worthy anxiety i had when reading the seijoh karasuno match. i love both teams so much hsiejsjjdjsns
Even after putting up a commendable fight, Aoba Johsai got eliminated in the end. That was a close one! In the finals, however, Karasuno are getting crushed in the very first set by the prefecture's perennial champions 'Shiratorizawa.'
YOU KNOW I COULD EASILY SKIP LIKE 3 VOLUMES AND GO STRAIGHT TO THAT NEW CONTENT BUT I'M NOT GOING TO BECAUSE SEEING OIKAWA LOSE IS JUST SO SATISFYING AND THE MATCH AGAINST SHIRATORIZAWA IS SO EPIC, I JUST HAVE TO EXPERIENCE IT AGAIN (while listening to the season 3 ost of course). also. that one panel. where nishinoya is just so focused and determined aND BEAUTIFUL. YEAH THAT. THAT MIGHT BE MY FAVOURITE PANEL FROM ANY MANGA EVER. AAAAAAAAAAAAH i might be crying i love him so much. i love the fact that he doesn't back down from a challenge, instead it just gets him more fired up, and him being excited somehow lifts the entire team's morale :')))).

i will honestly never recover from this seijoh era ever i can’t even remember or imagine what it might feel like to have a stable relationship with my emotjons very rad. feeling completely leveled by that iwaoi epilogue but what’s new. they’re literally soulmates your honor
bUT OKAY the FIRST OF TENDOU CRUMBS my chicken soul is happy to peck hello
I'm continually amazed that I keep find myself enjoying a book about volleyball even though I never watch sports, only having a passing familiarity with volleyball from high school gym class, and the series takes multiple volumes just to get through a single round of the current tournament. The semi-final round finally concludes, and I'm actually interested to see what happens next. Crazy.
- Iwaizumi being on the cover page of this volume🥰 - OIKAWA’S LONG SET TO IWAIZUMI!!!!!! Also, the fact that it was the last set of his high school career💔 - Aaaaaa I’m so torn!! I’m happy Karasuno won, but why did Aoba Johsai have to lose 😭😭😭 - The growth between the last match and this match!! The parallel of Hinata hitting into a triple block to end the last match and him surpassing a triple block to win this match!!! - Iwaizumi patting Kageyama on the back💗 - SEEING THEM CRY💔💔💔 - ALL THE THIRD YEARS COMFORTING IWAIZUMI🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭 - Slay Oikawa!!! You tell Ushijima!!!! - “Y’know there’s a reason a flock of crows is called a murder. Together, they could even take down a great white eagle.” FUCK YES!!!! Oikawa dropping the hardest line of the series!!!!! - Omg the ball-boy arc foreshadowing!! - Hinata’s middle school friends coming to support him💗💗💗 - USHIJIMA HAVING “NONE” AS HIS CURRENT WORRY💀 - OIKAWA CRYING IN THE BONUS CHAPTER😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 - “You’re the greatest partner I’ve ever had…and the greatest setter I’ve ever known. Even if we’re never on the same team again…that will never change” SHUT UP!!!! IM CRYING!!!😭😭😭😭 THEY’RE THE GOLD STANDARD!!!!

That Aoba Johsai match really dragged, but this new match got me all hyped up again. Winning against Shiratorizawa is obviously no walk in the park, but I didn't expect it to be so brutal.
This one marks the end of the second season and the beginning of the the third. I think Seijoh might be my least favorite team (of the like "main" teams), but wow did that bonus story make me feel emotional. I haven't seen season three so starting with this one everything is new to me and I'm so NERVOUS. (But also super excited to finally meet Tendo)
this volume was BEAUTIFUL. my heart HURTS. seijoh’s loss. “thank you for the last three years.” “you’re the greatest partner i’ve ever had... and the greatest setter i’ve ever known. even if we’re never on the same team again... that will never change.” i’m excited for the shiratorizawa match though! shiiiiiratorizawa bam bam bam bam bam!

Really, the match against Aoba Josai remains one of closest game and a stressful one too ! It’s really standing out in the animated series but the book manages to write this excitement !! I can’t tell the winner now (to make a free-spoilers review) but i can’t wait fot the next Karasuno game after this score !
unpopular opinion but i don’t think oikawa is all that and this game lowkey dragged on for me for some reason?? it might be because i didn’t really connect with the players of aoba johsai…. anyways heres to the next game!!!!!
