A wonderful sampler of John Clarke's early writing and a vivid example of his 'voice' (it's hard to not imagine his insouciant tone playfully narrating all his turns of phrase).. most of the book, being a product of its time, are very political in-the-moment (who today would understand a reference to the Nugan Hand bank, for instance), but I don't see it as detracting from the work, instead making it a unique time capsule of John's earlier writing. Later in the book (and more thoroughly in its sequel Daggshead Revisited) the topics become less political and more general which many will find easily accessible.
