She’s always ready for an adventure. She lives in northern Michigan where she loves to hike in the woods with her rescue dog, Josee, share a bottle of wine with good friends, or sail Lake Michigan with her husband on their boat, Priorities. (You gotta have your priorities!) Kimberli also co-writes the Charity Styles Caribbean Thriller series with Best-selling author, Wayne Stinnett. She loves sharing her passion for adventure and wildlife with her readers and happily gives away some of her award-winning wildlife photos. Aaaaand the love triangle is back. Safety Other than that, the plot of this book was completely annoying. The gay bestie was a jerk and unreasonable, the h felt guilty for everything, even things that weren't her fault, and trouble followed the h wherever she went. It was annoying and frustrating. Plus the H didn't appear until near the end of the book so there wasn't much development in that department. Plus, reference the safety spoiler above.
I admired the h for being tough and having developed into a slightly less impulsive character, but she wasn't enough to save this book. Resolution of the love triangle was appreciated, but this one ends in another cliffy like ending. I will read book five and see if this series is worth continuing. It's a good thing all the stories are so short.
Another exotic locale and serious animal rights/protection issue make this a compelling read along with the fast pace and gritty young heroine whose attempts to save endangered animals at all costs gets her into life-or-death jams with a neverending supply of bad guys.
This adventure suffered from a predictable plot (If I can figure out who the traitor is, I'm sure many other readers found the outcome a bit obvious too). Poppy's best friend, Chris, gets in the way more than he should have since he'd been portrayed as a trustworthy, reasonable, dependable friend in previous books. But love does have a way of blinding even the strongest of characters and makes them think and act irrationally during a crisis. After his initial emotional outburst after his fiance` was kidnapped, I would have preferred him to get a grip and try to contribute to Doug's rescue rather than constantly blame Poppy for not doing enough and doing it "immediately."
I got a feeling of repetition and rehash of the story crises and character emotions that slowed down the otherwise rapid pace. Overall an enjoyable read but the first three books in this series were stronger.
Can't wait till the next series comes out in April .enjoyed the characters of poppy mcvie and garret Dalton both agents for wildlife and games but they are special ops ,they both been assigned to work now higher up in the gov't,but in the meantime are on vacation until the next assignment.the vacation turns out anything but a vacation poppy and her best friend Chris finds themselves deep in trouble with cartel down Mexico way with Noah a mystery man who wants to be more than a friend to poppy then throw in poppy partner Dalton who finds himself neck deep involved with poppy problems who also has deep feelings for her and you got yourself a good story you can't stop reading . Love love this author style of writing, you get to see mystery and crime from wildlife and games point of view .
Poppy is in constant turmoil over what other's think, her new job, partner, her best friend. She takes wild chances, risky actions, because of this pire pressure. Mind you the feedback she gets from the "Fed's" just sucks, and impossible to follow surrounded by "these friends". Chris does not come out well in the story at all. He has some serious mending to do., that level of drama is after spending a full 6 months together. Not a max of 2 weeks. Talk about screwing over your best friend in the whole world, forcing her to put her life on the line repeatedly. Luck he still has a straight nose.
Book Four in the Poppy McVie series features Poppy and her handsome ex-seal partner Dalton. Poppy is vacationing in rural Mexico where she joins old friends trying to stop poachers of baby sea turtles. When Poppy and her friends are thrown in jail by corrupt policemen, one of her friends calls Dalton to come save them. Poppy is kidnapped and it takes Dalton and Poppy working together to escape and help the turtle babies safe from their predictors. In reading these books one gains valuable knowledge about both the service and the problems brought on by the poachers. It's exciting, well written and engaging.
As Poppy is trying to process everything that has happen to her and what her future holds, she thought meeting up with her best friend would be a nice change of pace...as usual, nothing is ever easy for Poppy.
Great story written as a nice continuation of the series. Kimberli does a wonderful job setting the scene and leaving you on the edge of your seat. I was very anxious to see the trouble Poppy could get into and how she would get out of it.
This is by far the best novel/cliffhanger in Poppy's adventures so far. Maybe not that much about animal conservation , but by far the best mystery/thriller. Very well written, good plot, suspense & a surprise ending. I really did not see it coming. Cudo's for Kimberly !!
Ms Bindschatel does her homework before writing each book. She pulls entertaining and informative stories from real-world crises to educate without lecturing. At the end of each book she writes a synopsis of what she’s learned and how it turned int a story.
Enjoy reading one book after another with the same characters and different story lines. This author interweaves previous stories and characters for the reader's benefit. Also like the fact that the character, Poppy, is not afraid to take risk; she's deeply loyal to her friends; and has a passion for animals and their safety. Looking forward to the next read.
I LOVED this book! I recommend thisvfast paced, enthralling series to everyone that loves great world building, and a strong elateable female character!
Another Unpredictable Adventure Just read this book. Better yet, read the series. The adventures of Poppy McVie are always fun reading, always unpredictable and in exotic locations around the globe. If you care for animals, these books are an added bonus. I definitely recommend these novels.
This story is very adventurous. Poppy goes to a Mexican beach to take a vacation, but her time in Mexico turns out to be an adventure she didn’t expect. She volunteered to help try to save the turtles who nest on the beach, but finds trouble with a killing group of poachers instead.
Poppy McVie is at it again. She was supposed to be on vacation, but as luck would have it, she’s involved in another poaching fiasco. I loved the interaction with the turtles. Overall it wasn’t my favorite of the four books in this series, but I’m still rooting for Poppy & Dalton.
I enjoy these stories...yes, read them in order. Full of action, tense moments, chases, a little romance, but conservation themes...all in all, really good story telling.
Another good fun adventure! Love how u learn about poaching and yet get a great story at the same time. And of course Poppy's and Dalton's love connection always keeps me keen on to know what will happen next between them. Always love reading Poppy's adventures!
Throughly enjoyed Poppy going out to rescue once again although its ment to be a relaxing break for Poppy and her best friend, it's anything but. Dalton manages to drop everything and help get Poppy - won't say more as dont want to spoil it.
Wow! What a wild ride this was! Poppy McVie attracts danger like a magnet! Very educational and interesting learning about the poaching of turtles. Cannot wait for the next installment.
This story didn't feel as though it was written by a seasoned author but it had decent bones for the mystery. Part of my problem was with the emotional outbursts attempted through stunted dialogue.
I enjoyed this character a lot. Poppy McVie is to animal rescue as Stephanie Plum is to bondsmen. So if you enjoy Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum you will enjoy Poppy McVie.
Just finished Turtle Ransom, I enjoyed these characters and appreciated the information on such beautiful locations. Especially when it's 3 degrees here.
This was an intriguing read for me. I never imagined that poaching was a prevalent problem, especially with turtles. This has been an enlightening series for me.
'Operation Turtle Ransom' pulled me in from the beginning and didn't let go. I knew Poppy would land in the middle of a pile of trouble, which is what makes the story great. She has a knack for finding the weirdest situations. I love her sense of humor. She never quite gives up, which makes her a real spitfire. Chris is pushed far with his emotions and I feel for him. I love his loving nature and his love for life. A great add to your tbr list.
